Javier was amazing! We will use him all the time for our repair needs. We had a washer and dryer on the fritz and he fixed both of them for a very very reasonable price. He is our new handyman for our home. So happy we found him. I recommend him to anyone!

Nick responded quickly to my initial request and arrived on time the following morning. He quoted me $35 charge over the phone but more than quadrupled his quote after a 20 minute repair. He simply re-screwed the hinge back into the top of the fridge. The entire effort took 20 minutes for which he tried to bill me $154. I told him that he'd been here less than 1/2 hour and supplied no materials. I offered him $100, he countered with $120. I told him $100 or nothing and he accepted. $154 for screwing in one screw is highway robbery. His work was adequate but not worth the his outrageous charge.

Hector made several electrical and plumbing repairs/installations at our home (inside and out), which included rewiring the recessed lights in the ceiling (which were flickering) and related drywall repair as well as repairing a leaking toilet. He also fixed a short in our bathroom light fixture, replaced a sprinkler valve and installed a new shut-off valve on an exterior copper pipe leading to the sprinkler valve. Additionally, Hector kindly offered to replace an electrical outlet and fix loose electrical outlet boxes for only the cost of parts. Hector is respectful and a mild-mannered professional. We have several other home improvement projects in mind and look forward to working with him again in the near future. Honest + Reasonable Prices + Quality Work = Highly Recommended!

It took two visits to fix my problem but the repair was finished and my dryer works great. The repair man was polite and worked hard to get the old part off so it could be replaced. The price was very reasonable. While setting up my appointments their response was very quick.

I contacted thumtack early sunday morning. Phil was of the respondents from my query. I got a hold of him around mid day. He was very courteous and very knowledgeable on refridgerator repair. He used to work for sears but is on his own now. I was scheduled for service on monday afternoon. But since he was nearby he responded to the call at 6:30p that same day. Needless to say he was able to diagnose my issue (ice maker tray was cracked), and installed a replacement in about 45 mins. Exteremly happy with his response and service. Keep up the good work Phil!

I had him come to remove a ceiling fan and install a new ceiling fan and wall switch. Because did such a nice job, I had him remove and install two bath faucets one of which needed more repair than I thought. He also repaired my tub faucet which I knew needed lots of work. If I need anymore repairs, I will definitely call him.

OC Appliance Masters absolutely amazing!!! Our experience could not have been better. Here's the long and short of it: 1. LESS THAN 24 HRS - called in the afternoon, arrived by next morning, repaired that day 2. RESPECTFUL -not condescending when we explained that we thought the draining problem might be the safety switch, reassured it wasn't our fault, these things break with normal use 3. KNOWLEDGEABLE - explained our laundry center was older, but built well and repairable 4. TRUSTWORTHY - price based on model, part, and labor service - not a number out of a hat 5. PREPARED - had the correct part stocked in his service vehicle 6. FAST - knew what he was doing, executed the repair with speed and accuracy 7. CLEAN - minimal mess during the repair, spotless after 8. PRIDE - toolbox was organized immaculately, obviously takes pride in everything 9. EXPERT - advice if we buy new appliances, such as which brands are the best for each 10. ATTENTIVE - noticed and made sure he didn't take our pen accidentally. On top of it all Isco was really nice.....will definitely use him again. We highly recommend Isco as the go to person for all appliance repairs !!!

I was in search of a handyman for myriad of repairs for my rental property back in August of 2010. I ended up doing a serach on Yellow Pages and came across Mark's advertisement. Mark provided an oustanding service. He was even able to meet me at the rental property on the same day that I contacted him even though it was a little late in the evening. All his work was exceptionally well done. We had a really old bathroom exhaust fan that needed repair. Instead of recommending a new one he was able to find the part to repair it and save us a lot of money. He also did lots of cosmetic work for our walls also. We also had him hook up the new tenants icemaker to the plumbing and he got that done very well. His prices are very reasonable also. I would not hesitate recommending Mark to friends and family.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
