Introduction: I know what it's like firsthand to struggle with anxiety in social settings, but especially in gyms. I get it -- it can be sensory overload, it's new territory, the equipment can be intimidating, and there are often a lot of people. It can be nerve-wracking! My mission is to make everyone feel confident and comfortable in (and out!) of the gym. With me, you don't just get a training session and that's it. You receive access to my private app that includes the following: - Nutrition guidance (food photo journal or macro tracking - ask me about this!) - Bespoke workout program. Maybe you only come to me 1-2x/week but want to workout an additional 1-2 times throughout the week! I provide a plan that you can log your workouts in the app so I can overview it each week. - Weekly check-ins where we discuss what went well, what we could improve on, and discuss the week as a whole. - Habit tracking, which can be anything from making sure to eat 3 meals per day for my clients who tend to skip meals, to going for a 15-minute walk -- or any other habits we deem useful that we can implement. - Access to me 24/5 for any questions or things you want to discuss. We will leave no stone unturned. My job is to take the guesswork out of fitness and health for you. You'll still have to put in the work, of course, but I'll be in your corner cheering you on and pushing you. After 10 years of coaching experience and continued education, I've learned what works really well and what doesn't. One of the things that works well? Minimum effective dose training -- your training should fit YOUR schedule and lifestyle, not the other way around. If you're a busy person, programming five 1.5-hour long sessions every week is setting you up for frustration and disappointment. If we can make amazing progress with only three 45-60 minute sessions per week, then why not? Maybe you’re not a gym fanatic and you don’t get excited to go workout -- at least we can make training effective so it allows you to be your best self. Whether that’s carrying all of the groceries in one trip, picking up your kids, being able to do yard work, improving stability and mobility, or simply liking the way you look and feel — we’ll work together to create a plan that gets you there. As your coach, I value your mental and emotional well-being. As with any healthy relationship, coaching requires honesty, communication, respect, and support. We’ll work through obstacles together instead of you feeling as though you’ll be punished for those moments you go off plan (and they WILL happen!) You’re investing in your health and I take that very seriously. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. No more guessing what you should be doing in the gym. No need to try yet another overly restrictive diet that leaves you feeling weak and shaky all of the time. No more wasting money on supplements that don’t do anything. Together, we will build habits that will last you a lifetime — and have a little fun in the meantime! Working with Emi has been a total game changer for my workout routine and goals! Years of working out on my own using apps and seeing little/slow improvement I went to Emi for my coaching and in 6-7 months I’ve seen a huge improvement that I never saw with years of using apps. Been bugging her about how much definition I have in my arms in such a short time is amazing. Can’t wait to see what the next few years bring! She’s very responsive whenever I have questions and quick to make changes if equipment isn’t available/or injury. Highly recommend - will definitely be keeping her as my coach.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We'll start with a conversation so I can learn more about you. For in-person clients, this will be at Q&A Fitness so you can get an idea of what the gym is like (hint: it's awesome). We'll go through some staple movement patterns so I can get an idea of how your body moves to ensure that I program exercises that match your fitness level. I start all new clients on a food photo journal so I can get an idea of what your nutrition looks like throughout the day and offer suggestions. We can discuss diving into tracking macros using MacrosFirst in order to learn more about nutrition and how to be able to take a balanced approach when it comes to your food. I'll then create a program that is tailored to your needs and preferences -- all you need to do is show up!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

The person I was dating at the time signed me up for the gym on my 20th birthday because I wanted to work out with them. Turns out, I really liked getting stronger and seeing my muscles! From there, I dove deep into researching all things fitness and started working at the gym. In 2013 I got my Personal Trainer certification through NASM and have continued to learn and grow over the last decade.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I relate strongly to fellow neurodivergent people and those who are LGBTQ+. I know what it's like to feel as though you're a round peg trying to fit in a square hole -- the systems in place that work for most people often don't end up applying to us. The majority of my client base has been those who feel misunderstood and a little lost. I take immense pride in being a part of their journey!
