John tutored my son in 9th grade math during the summer and fall. He was engaging with his student and flexible with his schedule, which really helped me out. My son's math ability certainly improved a lot, both from the actual instruction and from the work habits/procedures John helped imbue in him. I recommend John highly as a professional and reliable tutor who gets along well with students and motivates them.

Professional, on time. John is tutoring my 10 year old son in math, specifically, common core math. John is very patient which is what my son needs. I try to help him but I lose my patience which frustrates both of us. I am glad John is able to help and I hope my son will improve his math skills. John has tutored Christopher twice only so I hope this review is helpful. So far, I would recommend John.

John Linneball helped me with SAT tutoring, especially in the math sections. The sessions took place at my house every week, but if ever there was a problem, communication was made easy through email. He really helped me and we clocked in many hours of math exercises. Not to mention, he gave me suggestions on what I should work on during my alone time.

Michael is currently helping me get ready for my general contractors license test. With Michaels help in just one tutor session helped me refreshed my mathematics and helped me understand math problems by going over formulas. I look forward working with Michael until I pass the math section of my test.

Michael is currently tutoring me for a big statistics final. He literally broke down half the content in an hour and a half (and explained it in a way that made sense). I only wish I had met these guys earlier in my coursework! I will updat after I pass my final this weekend :)

Met with John once or twice a week over the course of several months during my GMAT preparation. I started out with a 13th percentile quantitative score. After working with him I was able score in the 73rd percentile on my first official GMAT, exceeded my initial goal by scoring ABOVE a 700. I had no formal quantitative training or experience prior to studying; the last math class I took was as a sophomore in high school (a decade ago). Each time I met with John, he was able to go beyond simply correcting my mistakes. He clearly explained the overarching reasoning, strategy and logic behind a certain problem. This is something the video explanations in GMAT curriculum do not do as thoroughly as John. If you're looking for someone to discuss GMAT concepts with in a clear and intelligent way, I highly recommend him. I also studied using curriculum like Target Test Prep, but John helped me tremendously by working through the problems I struggled with step by step and identifying any weak spots in my quant skills. He understands the GMAT and is able to identify the kinds of questions that likely would or would not appear on the exam. Finally, John served as a strong source of moral support throughout a challenging three months of study atop a full time job. When I wanted to try a new curriculum or ask him about tricky questions via email, he would always offer thoughtful feedback in response. His responses were especially helpful when I scored low on practice exams; John's feedback always helped me put things in perspective and helped me get back up and try again. He was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule and make time when needed, often on short notice. In short, I couldn't have done it without him!

John Bertinetti helped me study for the GMAT exam over the summer of 2017 with concentrated sessions to review GMAT Quant. John got me started on a study path by sharing info about the best study resources for my problem areas, and would meet with me once or twice a week to go over key Quant problems that I needed help solving. John is an ideal tutor for students who are good at keeping themselves on track without a structured curriculum. Great value, flexible scheduling, and clear explanations of problems are all huge wins with him. About halfway through the summer, I realized that I needed a structured class and more discipline to keep myself on schedule, so I supplemented my study sessions with John with an independent online class with a live teacher. Key lessons w/John: John is all about understanding the concepts behind a problem before sharing tricks; his method is great for learners like me who need to understand the math conceptually and don't want to just memorize formulas. We did a lot of work on combinatorics and probability, which were my challenge areas. He was a great and affordable supplemental resource for me beyond the class. Results: I went from a 580 on my Manhattan GMAT diagnostic to a 730 score on the actual GMAT after 3 months of light study followed by 2 months of intense study.

Minok is an excellent math tutor for my daughter. Beginning of the school year my daughter has had some difficulties with her trig-algebra 2 class. She would like to improve her grade and prepare for finals. Minok came in fully prepared. I really appreciate that she genuinely cares about the student and she spent a lot of time preparing her class ahead of the time. Usually she will check with my daughter with what is on going in her class, and by time of tutoring she came with extra materials and practice to help the kids. By doing tutorial with her once a week, She was able to help my daughter improve her grade from B to an A and so far in the new trimester my daughter has been getting all As in her math test. We are very happy with her and will highly recommend her to all my friends.

Minok is the most amazing tutor I’ve ever met. I was looking for a tutor for several weeks, until I found Minok. She knew exactly what my misconceptions were and helped me solve my weaknesses in Math. Each session, she would bring advanced problems related to the previous lesson. That gave me so much challenge, but I had the motivation to solve them. She also gave me some extra problems when needed. As a result, I improved my grades and became good in Math. Minok is a very dedicated teacher. She really knows how to make me interested in Math. She’s also kind, and brings joy and enthusiasm when she teaches. I highly recommend teacher Minok.

Our family has worked with One-to-One Tutoring for over three years in providing tutoring for my high-school daughter in mathematics, and for a short period, in chemistry. We have worked with the same math tutor which has proven to be an excellent relationship that has served my child well. The administration services have also been excellent, with prompt and accurate billing. If our tutor needs to be away for vacations or other reasons, we are always offered a substitute so that coverage is not missed. I appreciate the flexibility, accessibility and high caliber of professional people involved in this agency.

John-Michael is the professional tutor I needed in my life. Math was such a dull subject and he brings it to life with his enthusiasm and curiosity. I genuinely fell in love with math! Yevgeny helped me with business calculus class. This class was extremely important for me to pass as most 4 year colleges I was trying to get into wanted me to take it. During the 16 week semester, Yevgeny would come twice a week to help me with my homework and go over each chapter in depth. We would spend almost two hours each session on different problems and he would show me how to do each one. However, he doesn't do each problem for you but instead would have me do the problem on my own and give me help if I needed it. He made sure I understood each chapter we would go over before going onto the next. Yevgeny is a great person who really cares about the success of those he is tutoring. He understands many different math courses and is really smart. Without his help I wouldn't have passed my class and gone on to transfer to my 4 year college. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of help in any math course.

Yevgeny tutored my son in Calculus and we are very happy with the results. My son didn't even like the idea of getting tutored; After I convinced him that he needs to get some help, he tried a couple of other tutors; Yevgeny was the first one he was happy with; Yevgeny is a no-nonsense type of person; He is knowledgeable and focused on getting the student to understand the concepts; I would highly recommend him.

Yevgeny tutored my son for about 6 month to prepare him for SAT Subject test Math 2 and the Math portion of SAT. I strongly recommend Yevgeny as Math tutor.

My son Tristan has always had a little bit of trouble adjusting to the learning pace in a classroom environment, but he is more than able to excel above and beyond what is expected of his age group. We signed up for AP calc last year and had a lot of trouble in our first couple months. Tristan began falling behind and dropping down in test scores because he was unable to grasp the methods that the teacher divulged in the short 50 minutes that were allotted for the advanced course. We signed Tristan up in the academic resource center at school with a classmate tutor, but his peers could only reiterate what they had learned from the same set of teachers. When he told me he wanted to drop down to the pre-calc class, which is considered the “standard” level for seniors, I realized we had to get serious about devoting some time outside of PALY to get him the help he really needed. He only wanted the AP course on his transcript if it made him more appealing to colleges, and not if it were simply going to weigh down his GPA. We found Misha online, and things started getting easier after Tristan’s first session. He noted that Misha was able to teach him the same problems with a completely different approach that seemed to just click for him. I was worried that this was going to be a problem with testing because teachers like to see a certain type of work on the paper that corresponds to what is taught in the classroom; the standardized way to solve an equation. I brought this up with Misha and he was very receptive to my concerns. He took the time to explain to my why Tristan benefitted from the style of solving that he was teaching him, which is something that no teacher has taken the time to do with me before. Every kid’s mind works differently, and therefore some concepts that are received well by one student, may be very difficult to grasp for another. There are different ways to visualize problems and Misha was teaching a personalized curriculum to each of his clients; something else that teachers with 30 students don’t seem to be doing. I still wanted Tristan to be able to work the problem in the way that his textbook described, so Misha assured me that he would be able to get there with Tristan. Tristan used the methods that Misha was teaching to conceptually understand the math that he was learning. Misha also taught him how to apply that method that they worked on to what his teacher was using with all of the students. This is really what helped Tristan to keep up in class, and brought value to the time that he spent there as well, instead of just wasting time, confused, until he could get the one-on-one attention that he needed. Tristan can now look at an equation both ways, and choose which path is the most relevant to solve the problem with. This really gave him confidence and the actual drive to sit down and go through with a difficult problem, start to finish; a place I never thought we could reach at the beginning of the year. I cannot say enough positive praise about Misha. He has worked my son through the most difficult points of his education, and doesn’t leave without giving me a snapshot of their progress for the day. Tristan also really seemed to look up to Misha and turned to him for help with college applications, which he was more than happy to help out with. Tristan is off at Santa Clara now, and told me that he still reaches out to Misha when is he is stuck on a problem!! I have Misha’s personal number, and so does Tristan… that’s just the type of tutor he is. Needless to say, I will be sending this tutor a little something extra for Christmas this year.

Laura has tutored my two boys writing/reading in the summer and during the school year for about 3 yrs now. She's a wonderful tutor; always on time, organized, very patient and attentive with the students, and most importantly, knowledgeable in her subjects. She shows up with teaching materials, gives them lessons and corrects their work. Periodically she gives me feedback on their progress. My boys have done very well in school, and enjoy writing. One additional note, my boys tell me that her phone never rings during lesson, she turns it off so there'll be no interruption during lesson. That impresses me.

If Math is a challenge for you, and your hair stands up on the back of your neck at the thought of a Math exam, then Diego is your man. When I contacted Diego, I was at my wits end, defeated and overwhelmed on the verge of dropping out of my very much required math class. Diego was very calm and reassuring during our first meeting. He was able to immediately assess were I had missed some essential foundations and was able to guide me in the right direction. Together we came up with a schedule that worked for both of us. Diego is very accommodating with his scheduling hours, sometimes we met very early in the morning and at other times very late in the evening, (which worked great due to my crazy school schedule). I would highly recommend Diego, and you can feel that he becomes invested in your success. He created some presentations that were a great addition to my class instruction. Needless to say, my tears of frustration turned to tears of joy as I received a final grade of an A all due to his help.

Viktor is an excellent math tutor. I came to him having not seen any math for eight years, and having not actually learned much of the math I had taken in high school. He started at the beginning and patiently made his way through all of the material I had to cover. Even though I started my tutoring really late in the game for the my test date, he made a big effort to meet with me as often as I needed to and tried to teach me as much as possible in time for my test date. He is really patient and very encouraging, and does an excellent job of explaining concepts that are confusing to people. I have had a lot of math tutors over the years, and Viktor is by far the best one. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

MathExpert is always consistent with answering the questions and making sure that the material is understood. He teaches the importance of neatness when solving problems and that is not about how quickly you learn a subject but how much you've learned. He approaches the lessons very pragmatically; helps to connect theory to the practical aspects of execution so that you are actually learning the 'why' behind the work. A big /welcoming smile, patience and professionalism.

The best part of working with Angela is that she is very careful about teaching you in the simplest way possible. As an International student junior in computer science classes in college, I had a hard time understanding the lectures in class, so i would get weekly tutoring from Angela. She is not like an irresponsible tutor who will just tell you how to solve your homework and be done. Instead, she asks you a lot of questions and leads you to think until you get the right answer. It is really awesome. Also, Angela's bilingual teaching is great. She is very fluent in Chinese and we mostly used Chinese in class because I am a Chinese international student.

Angela does the best job of explaining concepts for AP/SAT if you are trying to learn something outside of school. We did our tutoring over the computer, but I actually found it more engaging than in person. For example, I was confused about cos (180degrees), because I hadn't learned about it in school yet. Angela's explanation also made 10x more sense than what my math teacher would say. Now I FINALLY understand how to find cos (180degrees)!

I am an elementary school teacher with over seven years of experience teaching all grade levels and subjects. I earned my California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (K-12) and will have completed my Master of Arts Degree in Teaching this fall.

About

I am a mathematics tutor well versed in and focusing on Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus, working with students from Grade 6 through high school. I can coach you with your homework or help you prepare for those all-important exams, or if you just want to gain some insights into various fine points of the process. Having difficulty making sense of math, do you have math anxiety, do the symbols swim in your head? I can help! I can work with you or your student in your home, library or most any place of your choosing. Still not on board? Let me prove my self. My first session is always free so that if you're not impressed with my tutoring you will have no dues to me. So hop on board and let me find your inner math wiz in you.
