Jeff is very nice, humorous and friendly. He is my english tutor right now who is extremely patient on me and pointed out those mistakes I made on grammars while I was speaking. In addition, he is quiet knowledgeable and good at speaking Chinese which is very helpful for me as a Chinese student. I really appreciate that I could found Jeff as my tutor on Thumbtack! Tim helped my wife with the basic English for about a month. I liked his approach, he is very patient and dedicated . He was always on time, he had a lot of prepared material, and he was well organized. Compared to other professors that we were in contact I believe that his dedication and effort is very price sensitive. Overall it was very good experience.

Scott really helps me to improve my pronunciation and my understanding of English. He works with me to fix my pronunciation mistakes. Now I’m more confident while I’m speaking, whereas before I used to be very anxious about speaking English. In addition, I enjoy meeting with Scott because we talk about various topics like travelling, movies, nature, culture, and so on. That makes English practice more enjoyable. Scott is very enthusiastic about learning languages and he has strong experience. Thanks to that, he provides great advice to progress. Together, during our lessons, we practice pronunciation, we review some grammar rules, and we practice English like in real life so he can point out mistakes.

She's always very helpful and provides you with good advices if you are new in town. She loves teaching and that increases the quality of the service she provides and the relationship she develops with her students. I consider myself lucky for having met Linda. Darya tutored and advised me throughout my senior year of high school and my first year at college. Having Darya by my side throughout the stress of a year and a half journey has had a significant impact in my life. Although Darya's main responsibility was to tutor me for my Advanced Placement (AP) Literature class, she went above and beyond to what I expected of an English tutor. She helped me find my inner voice as a writer through tutoring me about grammar, organization, and vocabulary. She also helped boost my confidence as an underprivileged Latina studying in the STEM field as a computer science major at the University of California: Santa Cruz. I passed both my AP Government and AP Literature classes and tests which is significant because both required a heavy amount of analytical writing; I graduated high school with honors and with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA), 3.7, at any time of my academic career. One week before I was going to take my SAT for the third time, I mentioned to Darya that I was struggling understanding a large portion of the Math section of the test. To my surprise, she was thoroughly capable skilled in tutoring me in math, along with English. In less than seven days, Darya was able to successfully prepare me for my last SAT test; subsequently, my SAT score improved by more than 100 points. If we had more time to go through the preparation book, I could have further surpassed this amazing progress. Another aspect in which Darya supported me in my college application and preparation process was in guiding me to refine my college essays for both private and public universities: as a result, I was accepted to more than half of the colleges that I applied to. Finally, I am most grateful for Darya and her efforts towards my success because of the high number of scholarships that I received in the second semester of my senior year in high school. Through Darya’s excellent editing and writing abilities, I was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in scholarship rewards from four different organizations. I could never have imagined this much triumph before meeting Darya; without these scholarship awards, I would have been forced to work during my breaks and during school to afford a college education. Now, all that I have to worry about is learning as much as I can while I am at UCSC. On account of my strong achievements in less than a year with Darya, I still utilize the many tips and lessons that she has instilled in me. As a result of this, I excelled in my classes at UCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Because of my outstanding academic success in the first quarter of college, I was exclusively invited by the university to apply to the College Scholars Program; this two-year program selects 20 students out of about 200 students applying from each college at UCSC to help give them meaningful academic challenges. Not only do I recognize Darya as one of the most significant people in my life because of my solid academic accomplishments, but also due to the genuine passion she holds to be sure that her tutees succeed. As her tutee, she constantly reminded me of my own abilities to encourage my confidence. We are still in contact today which further demonstrates her enthusiasm for her tutees. She is evidently benevolent, motivated, and intelligent, and I highly recommend her tutoring and guidance talents to any student who is fortunate enough to be her tutee.

About

Because we are small, we are able to offer a far more personalized approach than many large tutoring houses. Yet, we have the tools, training, and know-how of a large academic institution. For each student, we systematically work to identify problems, and then collaboratively create a plan to solve them using innovative curriculum design. Above all else, we are passionate about what we do! We care about genuine knowledge and understanding: we look beyond the numbers. We teach students to set their own goals, not merely jump through the hoops in front of them. We strongly believe that any student can succeed with the right combination of guidance, enthusiasm, and challenge.
