Sedat is a very patient teacher. He is enjoyable to work with. He is great at teaching no matter how much experience you have. He has great teaching skills and is incredibly talented. I have only taken 3 bass lessons and I have learned so much and can't wait to learn more. I highly recommend Sedat for anyone who wants to learn guitar.
I purchased bass guitar lessons for my Dad with Dylan. Dylan was very thoughtful and responsive. My Dad has had 3 lessons so far and loves it. He had been learning on his own and says things make sense now and he also appreciates the music theory that Dylan incorporates into the lessons. He and I recommend Dylan.
Private lessons are the most direct / proven method of learning to play / master a musical instrument. Mark's education and long time teaching background gives him an advantage in helping students progress. I'm coming up on 3 years studying under Mark and I am very happy with the results. He helps you practice, which he does a nice job of emphasizing, by keeping assignments fun yet focusing on good fundamentals - which are key long term improvement.
About Jerry: Jerry knows bass. He knows technique, he knows theory, he knows gear, he knows music history (past and present). Most importantly, he knows how students learn bass and thus he is able to tell you what you need to know and what to practice in oder to improve. My Experience: Jerry immediately found the holes in my technique and gave me a few lessons in bass theory that I hadn't already figured out by trial-and-error and applying theory from other instruments. He gave me exercises to work on to improve my chops and get my playing to a higher technical level. He taught me about the intricacies of the bass instrument and the gear associated in creating bass tone. He gave me songs and bass players to listen to and play along to in order to get the basslines I wrote sounding more mature and appropriate for the style/genre of their songs. And all the while he would immerse me in the culture of bass. Turning me on to the history of the instrument, the evolution of how it has been played through the years, the different styles of playing and how they fit into each genre, and of course the great players of the past and present. His body of knowledge around bass is just staggering. About Me: I'd been playing bass for fun for about 10 years at jams and also for about 6 months in an americana band. I'm also a serious keys player and know my music theory solid. Then I started playing bass in a funk/soul band with more technical players and realized I needed to develop some serious chops to keep up. I chose Jerry because he wasn't a guitar-player teaching bass, he's a died-in-the-wool bass player who had been teaching for years. I wanted a specialist, not someone who was going to teach me basic theory.
I am a bass player who has always played guitar here and there but nothing too serious, and about a year ago decided I really want to know the fundשmentals of guitar. A friend recommended Jacob Light, whom I've heard play before in local bands, and I decided to take the chance. I wasn't dissapointed to say the least. Jacob is a really down to earth guy who immediately understood my musical style and focused mainly on what I wanted to know, unlike other teachers I've had experience with. Even so, he knew what subjects to insist I learn, like improvisation. and scales. all this was done in a friendly, calm, cool yet persistent atmosphere which is just the right blend for learning, in my opinion.Soon enough I started feeling I really understand guitar, and this new kno'ledge even helped me with my bass guitar playing. Ive been taking guitar lessons with Jacon for 6 months and the only downdise I can think of is the fact he moved to California, otherwise I would have still take lessons from him, without a doubt.
Great bass lessons, wonderful teacher for my son!
I learned more about playing the bass in one hour with Dave then years of playing around with a guitar. extremely professional and a wonderful teacher I highly recommend lessons with Dave.
My daughter takes bass lessons from him and she seems to enjoy it quite a bit and that's saying a lot. She's an awkward turtle at best and the fact that she continues to willingly take lessons from him means that she's actually comfortable enough around him to productively learn. That's also a testament to his patience, since knowing my own daughter, she can be difficult to get through to at times. She's learned a lot in the short time that she's taken lessons from him and she tells me that he explains concepts in a way that makes it easy to understand and grasp. I plan to have her continue taking lessons from him throughout high school.
He gave me lessons on how to better myself as a bass player. I've shown a significant improvement since he started working with me. His friendly attitude always made for a comfortable learning environment. I've had many bass tutors in my life, but he was by far the best.
I've really enjoyed drum lessons with Gavin. He is a great drummer and funny guy! I don't have a drum kit and he is still able to give me assignments that help me progress each week. He is very clear and lessons have been focused. He teaches out of a space that has two drum kits which is really helpful since we can both play at the same time. I'm learning a lot!
Steven Husted is teaching me how to play the electric bass. I am learning from Steven at a good pace and enjoying it. He has vast musical knowledge and skill with the bass and really knows how to convey what's essential at my skill level. [Note: My 6th lesson with Steven is next week; I plan to take as many lessons with him as it takes to attain competence through, at least, Hal Leonard's Bass Method Book 2.]

My teenage son has been taking bass lessons (upright and electric) with Schuyler for the past 3 months. Schuyler is an enthusiastic instructor who has tailored the lessons to fit what my son needs, choosing songs to practice that he connects with. Schuyler has been flexible with lesson days and times to fit our busy schedule. Very happy with the lessons!
Fabulous teacher! Since the last time I had any instrumental lessons were back in elementary school, I was a bit nervous about learning how to play an instrument, but that nervous all disappeared because of Simon's very accommodating, welcoming, friendly teaching style. He accommodates to your current skills and have taught me numerous songs and drills to help me become more agile with the guitar. Being a beginner (2 months since I first started playing), I always can't wait to learn new songs and drills in my weekly private lessons. To any beginners out there wanting to learn how to play the guitar, I DEFINITELY recommend you to him. You won't regret it!!
