Joyee Lin of Thinque has been nothing short of amazing. Professional with results to show. My daughter started working with Joyee a couple of months ago. Within six lessons, my daughter's composite ACT score went from a 28 prior to working with Joyee to a 32. Amazingly, her science score went from a 25 to a 32. Those numbers are the end result of Joyee's professional approach to teaching. During the lesson, Joyee utilizes a number of methods to present the material. It must be said that my daughter took his instruction seriously and worked hard on the material which was provided to her. The result was a good example of team work in which my daughter could receive, in addition to immediate instruction, quick review and understanding after working through the material. Joyee makes it easy to work around a busy lifestyle as he schedules and responds to correspondence promptly. We can't offer him enough praise. Joyee is offering an amazing service and we were so glad to have been referred to him.

I started my first spanish class with Elida. She is very sweet, knowledgeable and organized . She knows what she is doing, very patient, organized and motivated. She is always prepared for the class and on time. She customized my classses based on my need and at the same time practice basic grammer, vocabulary and conversation. She provides all the materials I need and even homework. I wish I would have started learning Spanish earlier with her. Strongly recommend her if you want to learn Spanish. She is great .

I do not have enough kind words to say about Elsa! She is truly phenomenal in every way -- from her kindness and caring demeanor, to her sincere dedication and commitment to helping me learn Spanish. Right from the start, I knew that Elsa was the right fit: she was, of course, a native Spanish speaker with a wealth of cultural and linguistic knowledge, but more than that, she had clear plans of the best approach to teach me Spanish based on my prior knowledge level (which was very basic). She always gives extra time to her clients, and thus is extremely generous with her time, hosting us in her home and not stopping until we finish the lesson at hand. Unlike my previous schooling experiences learning Spanish, Elsa personalizes each lesson based on our progress and in ways that are conducive to learning Spanish in everyday life. Her experience teaching Spanish truly shows in each lesson. While there are certainly many Spanish instructors to learn from, Elsa has to be one of the best -- I really recommend choosing her in your journey to learn Spanish. Besides being an excellent teacher, she is truly just a wonderful person -- she is caring, genuine, and altogether an extraordinary teacher to learn Spanish from, with a positive and encouraging attitude at an excellent value. I am grateful for her help so far and look forward to many future lessons with her in the future.

Mr Canepa has been great. We do a bilingual class Spanish-French once a week. He's also very punctual and is never late. Our class is mostly conversational and he corrects my french as we go, which I love. I recommend him.

    About

    About

I tutor all levels of Spanish and English. In addition, I work with junior high students and high school students in what they need assistance with.

    About

I teach Spanish to children and adults looking to forward their bilingual grammar with reading, writing and speaking exercises, in order to forward communication skills in the Spanish tongue. I also teach definitions and how to translate Spanish to English or vice versa.

    About

Few teachers can say that they have managed to have a 100% passing rate for 8 years in the AP Spanish Language exam. I am glad I can say that. I am looking forward to helping more students pass the AP test and earn college credits while in High School.

    About

I am able to translate any subject matter, including such services as proofreading, editing, marketing tools, legal documents, etc. I work mainly with e-documents. My price for services will be determined by availability and complexity of the project. Rates are on U.S. cents per word of the final computer word count of the finished translation or, according to the project, based on an hourly rate. Editing and proofreading rates are estimated by page or by the hour.

    About

If you want to learn Spanish, you must get a native speaker. Si quieres aprender español hazlo con Un hablante nativo.

    About

I offer Hebrew lessons. I am a PhD student in Claremont. I am fluent in modern Hebrew, and I have a teaching certificate from Israel.

    About

Since I am not a native speaker in the Spanish language, I emphasize practicing all the grammar rules and sentence structure. I have taken Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and AP.

    About

My goal as a linguistics major is to provide either Spanish or English learners with a personalized learning plan to best help them develop on the desired language. Whether the student is advanced, beginning, young or mature is of no issue. As a teacher for the past 6 years to children from 2-6 grade and high school level tutor, I have gained experience with many different types of learners.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
