Grace is a patient, fun, and dedicated tutor. My two girls enjoy their lessons with Grace. Grace has made it fun for them to learn. They originally started with after-school Chinese lessons at a learning center. Because of the larger classroom size, my kids were not corrected and only learned to copy really well. Grace has corrected their stroke order and established a strong foundation in their reading and writing. We don't speak Mandarin at home so next she will work on their conversation. I am so glad and fortunate to have found Grace!
Angela is an amazing teacher! She shows how much she cares for your learning in her expressions and interest in your progress. I enjoyed the way she taught by incorporating culture and humor into the lessons. This made learning Chinese more fun than I could have ever imagined. If you are looking for a teacher that can make the language fun and more memorable, look no further! After all the language classes I have taken, Angela's is the only one were I have retained the language. You will truly learn with her guidance.
I'm a beginner and Lillian works at a good pace. I travel a lot to China Lillian has provided me with useful everyday phrases to use.
Isabel Wei has been teaching me professional and business-level Chinese for the past year and a half. We have lessons 1-2X per week for 2 hours per lesson. Isabel Wei is an exceptional teacher of the Chinese language. When we started our lessons, I had no knowledge of Chinese. Due to Isabel Wei’s effective teaching style, I feel very confident that I can reach conversational fluency (w/ proficient writing skills) within 2 years. Professor Wei has a strong work ethic and is flexible to all of my professional demands. She is highly recommended.
Teacher Wan Wan comes prepared and knows the material to teach my son, and knows how to test him back to see if he absorbs the Chinese lesson well.
I met up with Johnny for my first lesson yesterday evening. It went even better than I expected. Here's my assessment. Administrative Style Johnny has been very professional and prompt. Johnny was the first to respond to my request for a quote. There were a total of 3 other quotes, but I value promptness so I went with him. He also continued to communicate quickly to setup what type of lessons I wanted, time, and location. He arrived early for the first lesson. Teaching Style Johnny asks me questions in a very polite way to understand what level of Chinese I am comfortable with. Then he starts the lesson. While observing my reaction to questions and my answers he tries to correct me where he can, but not in a stern or disruptive way. That helps us to continue with the lesson and progress. Towards the end of the lesson, he remembers all the details that I stumbled on and review them. That was a pleasant surprise. It shows how caring he is about what I need to improve on. Personality Johnny seems like a very professional and smart guy. However, he doesn't act arrogant or stern. I'm not sure how old he is, but he seems much more mature and experienced than his bio on Thumbtack might seem at first glance. I think I made a great choice with going with Johnny.
Very polite, flexible and professional. Goes above and beyond what is expected. Would highly recommend to anyone. Nice and a pleasure to learn from. Patient and encouraging even to the earliest of beginners.
I ordered translation of my birth certificate for the USCIS through the Bay Area International Translation Services, and they were responsive, quick and professional - and yet highly cost efficient. I really liked how the account manager kept me updated at every step of the process and always asked for clarification when needed in order to provide a better translation. I greatly appreciate all their help and I hope to work with them again in the future.
Jocelin is a great teacher and very patience with helping a beginner with learning Chinese (Mandarin). I am very excited about each class and feel like I am making progress after each class. I would recommend Jocelin to anyone that is interested in learning Chinese (Mandarin).
Anna provided me a good base of practical Chinese skills that I used successfully in my business travel and meetings. I'm certainly not anywhere close to fluent, but I can exchange polite greetings and order meals, and that was my goal. My Chinese counterparts appreciated my efforts with their language. I'm also considering having Anna tutor my middle school boy who has recently started Chinese at his school
I’ve been studying Mandarin with Amy Ding for three months. Under her tutelage, I’ve made rapid progress in all areas. Patient and experienced, Amy uses a diverse collection of teaching strategies to demystify a language that often feels complex and intimidating. With Amy’s help, I’ve expanded my vocabulary and improved my articulation (a critical component of learning a tonal language). Though I came to her as a beginner, we’re already having simple conversations. I’m also reading and writing short essays in both pinyin and characters. She has warmly welcomed me into her home and goes above and beyond to ensure I understand the material. She incorporates cooking and Chinese cuisine into our lessons, and has taught me so much about Chinese history and culture. I highly recommend Amy as a teacher. Erica

I am a trained mandarin teacher offering mandarin tutoring session either one-on-one or in a small group. The lesson would be tailored according to students' need and interest based on the age and language level. I had worked at Sihai Confucius Academy in Beijing and also Mandarin after school programs in the Bay Area. I would like to make more friends with the kids or adults who would like to learn the Chinese culture and language.
She was a very experienced and creative Mandarin tutor. I was very bored of reading textbooks from my old Chinese schools. She created her own lessons that are way more fun and effective than textbooks.
Xieyu was very professional and thorough. We first discussed a lesson plan and she laid out some suggestions of how the lessons would go before meeting. During the lesson, she was very clear in pronunciation and patient. Highly recommended.
I am a Chinese language tutor with experience tutoring university students. I grew up in a Chinese speaking country and also studied the language in university, graduating magna cum laude. Since graduating, I have been working in Shanghai and Singapore in dual-language jobs. Having worked as an au pair twice during university, I am also very good with kids. I am a big believer in teaching two different learning styles. I believe in getting to know my students, learning their passions and strengths. I try to shape my teaching style to work with those strengths and carry students' passions over to the Chinese language. I focus on teaching in an approachable way that makes a language as challenging as Mandarin, easy and fun to learn! I love teaching. I'm patient and passionate about my subject. If you've been thinking of learning or want to further improve your Mandarin, contact me, and let's see if it's a good match!
I'd like to work with you to set up your learning objectives, select your preferred learning materials, and make the learning schedule that works best for you. The ultimate goal is to improve your Chinese in the most efficient way that works for you.
I've been in teaching environments in America and in China that have given me the experience I need to give each individual a tailored made lesson just for them.
