Math tutoring for a third grade student who is 6 months below grade level. We have had 5 sessions and he is already doing better. The tutor works with my grandson 2 times per week 1 hour each. She is excellent!
John Linneball helped me with SAT tutoring, especially in the math sections. The sessions took place at my house every week, but if ever there was a problem, communication was made easy through email. He really helped me and we clocked in many hours of math exercises. Not to mention, he gave me suggestions on what I should work on during my alone time.
Met with John once or twice a week over the course of several months during my GMAT preparation. I started out with a 13th percentile quantitative score. After working with him I was able score in the 73rd percentile on my first official GMAT, exceeded my initial goal by scoring ABOVE a 700. I had no formal quantitative training or experience prior to studying; the last math class I took was as a sophomore in high school (a decade ago). Each time I met with John, he was able to go beyond simply correcting my mistakes. He clearly explained the overarching reasoning, strategy and logic behind a certain problem. This is something the video explanations in GMAT curriculum do not do as thoroughly as John. If you're looking for someone to discuss GMAT concepts with in a clear and intelligent way, I highly recommend him. I also studied using curriculum like Target Test Prep, but John helped me tremendously by working through the problems I struggled with step by step and identifying any weak spots in my quant skills. He understands the GMAT and is able to identify the kinds of questions that likely would or would not appear on the exam. Finally, John served as a strong source of moral support throughout a challenging three months of study atop a full time job. When I wanted to try a new curriculum or ask him about tricky questions via email, he would always offer thoughtful feedback in response. His responses were especially helpful when I scored low on practice exams; John's feedback always helped me put things in perspective and helped me get back up and try again. He was very flexible and willing to work with my schedule and make time when needed, often on short notice. In short, I couldn't have done it without him!
I contracted with Lorraine to work with my Seventh grader who skills in math are at a third grade level. In 3 sessions (6 hrs) she has increased his self confidence, and his math skills are now at a 4 grade level. Needless to say we will continue to utilize her services for the rest of the summer and during the school year.
Mrs Johnston taught high school math to my son over three years. At first he needed a specific type of support because we had just moved to California from UK and there were gaps/differences in what he had previously learnt. Mrs Johnston had to find out what my son knew and where the gaps were. As things progressed she found out that my son was learning more if he had to do more of the talking and not just listening to her. My son always found the tuition sessions useful. Mrs Johnston was flexible on lesson scheduling and her rates are reasonable.
Minok is an excellent math tutor for my daughter. Beginning of the school year my daughter has had some difficulties with her trig-algebra 2 class. She would like to improve her grade and prepare for finals. Minok came in fully prepared. I really appreciate that she genuinely cares about the student and she spent a lot of time preparing her class ahead of the time. Usually she will check with my daughter with what is on going in her class, and by time of tutoring she came with extra materials and practice to help the kids. By doing tutorial with her once a week, She was able to help my daughter improve her grade from B to an A and so far in the new trimester my daughter has been getting all As in her math test. We are very happy with her and will highly recommend her to all my friends.
Had Mr. Wekselgreen as my algebra teacher in high school. He is very passionate about math and teaching. Best math teacher I've ever had. Math is not my strong suit and I really struggled. He was always willing to repeat himself and break it down for me OVER AND OVER again. Never lost patience which is unbelievable considering how often I needed help. He has such a great approach and a great sense of humor. I highly recommend him for all your teaching/tutoring needs.
Anish did a great job in helping me learn Math by properly giving me the instruction and practice I needed. I saw results soon after our tutoring sessions!
Mrs. Smith has been a very helpful and fun teacher at Armijo High School and considerably one of my favorite teachers. She has helped students and I focus with math lessons that are very thorough and well thought out.
Angela does the best job of explaining concepts for AP/SAT if you are trying to learn something outside of school. We did our tutoring over the computer, but I actually found it more engaging than in person. For example, I was confused about cos (180degrees), because I hadn't learned about it in school yet. Angela's explanation also made 10x more sense than what my math teacher would say. Now I FINALLY understand how to find cos (180degrees)!
Pio is very good at catering the lesson to my needs - where I am at in the learning curve, and helping fill in any gaps in my knowledge of mathematics. He also helps create a plan and gives homework to accomplish my goal.
My High School child is taking Math tutoring class with Namita for the past few months. She is Very dedicated to her students and explain the concepts to them very well. She is extremely helpful whenever my child is stuck with any problem in math other than tutoring time. She gets back to her the same day explaining the concepts. If you are looking for math tutor, I would strongly recommend Namita.
Libby was truly a great find as a math tutor for our 8th grade daughter. After screening at least a dozen tutors and interviewing a handful of them, Libby proved to have the best combination of math experience (we needed her strong foundation in algebra and geometry) and more generally tutoring experience (broad not only in terms of years but also the many subjects she is qualified to tutor). Our daughter added that Libby's teaching style combines innovative learning techniques with an enjoyment of both the subject matter and her students. As a result, our daughter scored higher than expected on the math sections of her ISEE, and received a full letter grade higher than expected in her 8th math class. Perhaps most importantly, Libby made a difference in our daughter's confidence level and enjoyment of math. Finally, beyond her tutoring, we were so appreciative of the fact that Libby is punctual and very reasonably priced. So our only reservation in writing this review is that we hope Libby will again be available when our daughter starts high school in the fall! Thank you Libby.
I can’t say thank you enough to Kisha and the staff at Moore 4 Moore Tutoring. Since middle school I’ve struggled to fully grasp the concept of math. Initially I was embarrassed admitting that I needed a tutor, however, I can proudly say that M4M has continued to help me throughout high school and college career. I don’t know where I’d be without them!
My son has been going to Dhivya for math tutoring for about 6 months for 1.5 hours per week. During this time, he has gained a lot of confidence in his math abilities. His math grades at school have greatly improved. Dhivya knows how to teach the math so that he understands it, and she is patient with him. I highly recommend her as a tutor.
Sylvia is tutoring my daughters in Spanish. They never had Spanish before, and when they moved to a new school, the level of Spanish is very advance for someone who never had the lessons. Sylvia works with them in getting them up to speed. In a short time, both my children had become comfortable in following the lesson at school, and I have noticed that both of them have made quite significant improvements. My oldest daughter tells me that once she is comfortable with her Spanish, she wants to start French with Sylvia. I am sure that if either of my kids need tutoring in Math, Sylvia would be the one we go to. If your child or children need extra help in academic, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call Sylvia. My children are very happy with how she teaches. Sylvia is also opens to different approaches in teaching. If my kids want more challenge, all they have to do is tell Sylvia and she will give them challenging lessons.
My grades drastically improved as a result of studying with Susanna. I would give her more than 5 stars if I could, she's an amazing tutor. Susanna expertly tutored me in math starting with middle school algebra and continuing all the way through college calculus. She was a valuable partner for the majority of my math education. She is especially skilled at helping you master mathematical concepts by distilling complex ideas into easy to understand examples.
Viktor is an excellent math tutor. I came to him having not seen any math for eight years, and having not actually learned much of the math I had taken in high school. He started at the beginning and patiently made his way through all of the material I had to cover. Even though I started my tutoring really late in the game for the my test date, he made a big effort to meet with me as often as I needed to and tried to teach me as much as possible in time for my test date. He is really patient and very encouraging, and does an excellent job of explaining concepts that are confusing to people. I have had a lot of math tutors over the years, and Viktor is by far the best one. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Darya tutored and advised me throughout my senior year of high school and my first year at college. Having Darya by my side throughout the stress of a year and a half journey has had a significant impact in my life. Although Darya's main responsibility was to tutor me for my Advanced Placement (AP) Literature class, she went above and beyond to what I expected of an English tutor. She helped me find my inner voice as a writer through tutoring me about grammar, organization, and vocabulary. She also helped boost my confidence as an underprivileged Latina studying in the STEM field as a computer science major at the University of California: Santa Cruz. I passed both my AP Government and AP Literature classes and tests which is significant because both required a heavy amount of analytical writing; I graduated high school with honors and with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA), 3.7, at any time of my academic career. One week before I was going to take my SAT for the third time, I mentioned to Darya that I was struggling understanding a large portion of the Math section of the test. To my surprise, she was thoroughly capable skilled in tutoring me in math, along with English. In less than seven days, Darya was able to successfully prepare me for my last SAT test; subsequently, my SAT score improved by more than 100 points. If we had more time to go through the preparation book, I could have further surpassed this amazing progress. Another aspect in which Darya supported me in my college application and preparation process was in guiding me to refine my college essays for both private and public universities: as a result, I was accepted to more than half of the colleges that I applied to. Finally, I am most grateful for Darya and her efforts towards my success because of the high number of scholarships that I received in the second semester of my senior year in high school. Through Darya’s excellent editing and writing abilities, I was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in scholarship rewards from four different organizations. I could never have imagined this much triumph before meeting Darya; without these scholarship awards, I would have been forced to work during my breaks and during school to afford a college education. Now, all that I have to worry about is learning as much as I can while I am at UCSC. On account of my strong achievements in less than a year with Darya, I still utilize the many tips and lessons that she has instilled in me. As a result of this, I excelled in my classes at UCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Because of my outstanding academic success in the first quarter of college, I was exclusively invited by the university to apply to the College Scholars Program; this two-year program selects 20 students out of about 200 students applying from each college at UCSC to help give them meaningful academic challenges. Not only do I recognize Darya as one of the most significant people in my life because of my solid academic accomplishments, but also due to the genuine passion she holds to be sure that her tutees succeed. As her tutee, she constantly reminded me of my own abilities to encourage my confidence. We are still in contact today which further demonstrates her enthusiasm for her tutees. She is evidently benevolent, motivated, and intelligent, and I highly recommend her tutoring and guidance talents to any student who is fortunate enough to be her tutee.
Dylan has been a great tutor and has gone the extra mile to develop new innovative techniques/language to help our son blossom. Specifically he has helped overcome challenges with math, word problems, handwriting and multi-step problems. Dylan also communicates regularly with our son's school teacher which is invaluable. Finally as a family with two working parents who travel a great deal he is totally reliable, a great communicator and flexible.
Ayesha was great tutor for me. She really helped me understand my math lesson and explained things more than one way. She was very helpful by reviewing some stuff from previous lessons that we had gone over. She also gave me some tips to remember the steps for some equations. I am thankful for the time she gave up to help me.
