Clearlight Video has provided me with EXCELLENT wedding photography services! I am SO glad that I found them before my wedding day, I was above and beyond satisfied with their performance and quality. If they lived closer to my area I would hire them again. Lawrence and Ian did everything to make my wedding day special. They even made me feel good about myself with the compliment's that they gave after they shot a photo. They derserve a large book of business if they don't already have it. In my opinion, they derserve a 5 star rating! I can't thank them enough for the amazing job and gorgeous photo's that they shot! I will always keep them in mind if I ever need photography services in CA again! Sincerely, Carissa Simmons

Michael was great to work with. I could tell he knew how to capture our day. He comes with a lot of experience from non wedding photography which we liked. I never got to meet him until the wedding day so I guess my only critique would be a little more communication leading up to the wedding such us check ins maybe the months out and one month out.

Thomas did a great job capturing our wedding at Wine & Roses in Lodi! Very professional and friendly person. He was never in the way or distracting like I have seen with other wedding photographers and yet he was still able to take so many amazing and memorable photos. Thank you!

Finding wedding photography and videography was so hard and not to mention expensive. A friend told me about thumbtack, so I figured I'll give it a try and am sure glad I did. Shelia was so helpful and very informative about everything. She is so professional at all times . I told her my budget and she stuck rite to it and threw in some extra things for me. She offers beautiful engagement photos which turned out beautiful. We went to the Japanese Tea Garden in Harward , CA, and it was absloutely beautiful. On the day Of our wedding Shelia and Pam Were there early. They got pictures of the wedding set up, tables , flowers, cake, etc.. Shelia got pictures of everything I asked for. From the beginning to the end. And the most important she got some great shots of all the kids before they got all dirty it was beautiful. After the wedding Shelia got back to me in a week with all the pictures we had to pick threw, once we made our choices she put them in a beautiful album and sent them rite out us. I would recommend Shelia services to anyone looking for a professional and hard working photographer who takes pride in her work and making sure your needs are met on your special day. Thanks Shelia It turly was a pleasure! Sincerely Mr. & Mrs. De'Monta & Yolanda Hichks

Stavan and his team are professional. He has very artistic eyes. He is extremely patience and care about the quality of photos that he took. The first time my husband and me met him and talked about the business, we knew we had the right photography for our wedding. I have no regrets and I think I made the best decision to choose Vision Infinite Photography. Highly Recommended!!!

Where to begin with Adam and Hanna. Go ahead and hire them. Don't second guess yourself. I wish I could put into words how grateful I am to this couple for making our engagement shoot memorable and actually enjoyable for a reluctant photo shoot groom. Booking them was easy. And Adam was extremely patient with me as I changed the location the day of the shoot. We live in San Francisco,on the morning of the shoot I realized the fog was in for the day. After emailing Adam in a panic he suggested a beautiful park down in Los Gatos. It was everything I wanted for the pictures and more . Ada and Hannah were very calm, friendly and good fun to be around it actually was very enjoyable. If our wedding was not A destination wedding I would hire him and Hanna again for my wedding photography. We even received some unedited pics the night of the shoot.they were amazing. He is awesome with the camera. They took their time. Never glanced at the watch and actually went over the time frame we had booked them for. Excited to see the final pictures. Adam and Hanna....thank you both so so much. Lynne and Ken

I got my sister an engagement style shoot in sanfrancisco as a part of her wedding present. I wasn't sure if she would like it (she isnt really that into pictures) but I am so happy that I did. They said that they had an absolutely amazing experience and that Andrea is literally the nicest most awesome photographer in the world. She brought champagne made the experience special, hung out with them, made them feel relaxed, took 2 hours of amazing photos at multiple locations, and then even gave them a lovely restaurant recommendation and then checked in after to see if they liked with. She was easy to work with, super helpful in arranging and planning everything, and a very fair price. Thanks Andrea!

Patrick was our wedding photographer, and he went above and beyond for us in too many ways to list. He was professional, hardworking and thoughtful in every way, disappearing into the background yet catching so many amazing moments throughout the evening. Patrick is not your traditional wedding photographer, but that was not what we were looking for. His work speaks for itself, and we recommend him highly.

We used LuvlyProduction for our wedding photobooth in May 2018. I was impressed by their responsiveness and their desire to make sure we had a good experience working with them. Our guests really enjoyed the props and enclosed photobooth!!! I had no complaints from our coordinator about setup or teardown. Would not hesitate to book again :)

I've hired many photographers in the past for various events such as wedding, corporate parties and other events and William J Simpson trumps all of them by far! I knew I would enjoy his artistic take on photography and I love his eye for great moments and angles. Who knew it would take a first birthday party to finally find the right photographer! :) He was very punctual, responded quickly to my emails, and such a joy to work with during the event. Professional and personal at the same time. You won't regret hiring him for your next project or event. I know I'll be coming back to him for future events!

I hired Usman for my wedding photography for two wedding functions plus two couples/family shoots, I did not have wedding videos done by him so I can't comment on it. Usman was very comfortable to work with, and quite flexible and helpful as well (I even got a ride from him to my own reception). He's of a friendly disposition, easy going, and easy to get along with. We were quite happy with our pictures, he has a sharp eye for good framing and did some very good impromptu shots on our couples shoot. I don't think there were any important moments that he didn't catch with great shots. I would certainly recommend him for your wedding.

We had TwinSpin for our wedding, and we're super satisfied with his service. Before the wedding, he spent time to learn my needs and address my concerns. His price was competitive; he worked with me on prices and threw in couple extras. His equipment was professional and as described, and everyone could hear in our outdoor wedding. At the reception, he was energetic and was able to engage the crowd without any directions from me. Overall, better than expected. You can hire him with confidence.

Labra photography captured our wedding in Oct 2014. They are a mother/daughter photography team and are both very talented. I felt they went above and beyond in the level of service they provided. Everything was handled so professional and they had a fast turn around on the photos. We had a tight budget for our wedding and found them to be very affordable in comparison to other quotes we got. It was also awesome how they were able to get so many different angles of our special moments being that you have 2 photographers capturing your day. We were  so happy with the photos they took of our wedding! Edeelin and Jasmin do such an amazing job!

Rich Jarvis was the photographer for our wedding, and I couldn't be happier with his thorough documentation of our big day. Rich has a great eye and gives good direction. He listened to what we wanted too. He got pictures of all major objects and our guests, plus awe inspiring shots of us. He's equally skilled at candid shots, picking touching and funny moments. He also has a very calming presence which is so important on such a nerve racking day. I highly recommend hiring him.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
