Pete gave us a great starting point to start training our dog with behavioral problems. We started working on impulse control, feeding rituals, and commanding her attention in a stressful environment for our dog.
Courtney is fantastic. I appreciated how she inquired after both me and my dog during our training sessions. It helped further cement the relationship between dog, owner, and trainer.
Tammy is a joy to work with. She not only teaches your dog, but she takes the time to teach you as well. I highly recommend her if you have a dog that needs to learn some manners.
I recently adopted two mature, medium-sized dogs from Southern California. After hearing lots of horror stories from the previous owner regarding how they behaved, I was nervous about them being a good fit. After a chance meeting with Les in a parking lot, I called to see if he would help me with assessing their behavior and work on socializing them with other dogs. I couldn't be happier with the results. His guidance lead ME to higher levels of confidence which has lead to our being relaxed and confident with having them out in public settings as well as with the neighborhood dogs and children.
Rusty at Pawgress dog training has been an absolutely amazing trainer for our reactive cattle dog/ border collie mix. He has really given us so much information and shined light on some new techniques and strategies! We have found it so useful to have our dog practice with his dogs and we love the feedback and guidance! His PDFs have helped us to be able to practice and apply at home in between trainings as well! We can’t thank Rusty enough for the work this far! We look forward to training every week as we see our dog (and us!) make strides!
Debbie DeMello has helped me a lot in dealing with behavioral issues I was having with my dog. She is caring, direct, and knows what makes dogs tick! She helped me with practical suggestions, training tips, and follow-up. She also teaches small classes which I am continuing to attend with my dog. Great trainer!
Maj is a fantastic trainer. She is kind and patient with me, which makes me much more comfortable doing the things I need to do with my dog. She is wonderful with my dog and models the behavior I need to have with him so I learn even when she’s not teaching that specific skill. My dog is much better behaved and, while he’s always been a happy dog, he’s even happier now. He is definitely calmer. Thank you Maj!
We adopted a 6 month old Great Pyrenees mix that had terrible socialization problems. She was scared of the littlest thing, except people! We couldn't go out in public without her fawning over everyone and then in the blink of an eye, be terrified because a cart rolled past her. Did helped us round out her socialization with a training program that we could actually adhere to. She listened to what our lifestyle entails and what we were capable of doing at the time. It made us feel like we could actually help as opposed to all the other trainers who made us feel like we just couldn't do enough. Thank you California Canine for giving our puppy a new sense of confidence to enjoy the world with!
We have been utilizing Puppy Love Camp for our 6 month old labradoodle Bacon for the past 2 months and have been very happy. Emily is extremely diligent in working with Bacon on commands (sit, down, roll over, waiting before actions, returning to her while at the park, etc.) and thus we have seen great improvement. As they say a tired puppy is the best puppy and Bacon comes home exhausted each day from camp which really helps us out as we come home exhausted from work. We love receiving pictures and snapchats throughout the day to see Bacon playing with the dog pack at the park and socializing with dogs of all sizes and breeds. Emily is very flexible in pick up and drop off times which is a big help especially when having to head into work early or leave late. I would recommend Puppy Love Camp for any doggy parent who is looking to ensure their dog is getting the exercise and training they need.
This was the most relaxed non stressful training. Shauna was amazing extremely patient and my dog took to her immediately. I highly recommend any of the Wagging Tails Training Classes for your baby. Your fur baby will look forward to it and so will you.
Tricia knows her dogs. I took my dog through 3 courses with her and I saw her working with all types of dogs; aggressive, timid, hyper, etc. She tailored her classes to the dogs that were in attendance, and was able to work with dogs at different levels of training simultaneously. She kept it fun, but also kept things moving. I will definitely take my next dog through her classes, and my just bring my current dog back. I've been slacking on my maintenance training.
I absolutely endorse Lauren Flato and Sit Stay Wag Dog Training. First, Lauren is a vet; she knows when a problem is behavioral and when it should be checked by your veterinarian. Second, she specializes in animal behavior. This is not just an interest of hers, it is something that she has studied. Third Lauren simply "gets" animals. And more importantly, Lauren "gets" owners. My husband, our pup Abby and I are living proof. My husband and I were brand new dog owners of an adorable, but very scared ~2 year old rescue that spent 7 weeks in the Oakland pound - a kill shelter filled primarily with Pit Bulls and aggressive Chiuauas. Although Abby - a 14 lb Maltipoo mix has always been a little snuggle bug with us, she was snippy, barky and unpredictable with anyone else. We went to other trainers who told us that our dog was aggressive, dangerous and "needs to be reprimanded and know she is not the alpha in your house." Although we didn't know anything about dogs, this intuitively just didn't seem right. In utter desperation after several missteps with other trainers I found the website for American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior which led me to Lauren. From the first home visit, I knew we were in the right hands. Lauren provided clear information and explanations about what was happening. She provided simple homework assignments and shared the importance of confidence, consistency and patience. No matter how much or how little Abby seemed progressed from visit to visit, Lauren always found something positive about Abby's behavior - or ours! Today Abby is an entirely different dog. She no longer cowers when we call her; she happily accepts petting from our friends and can walk down the street without barking at every single person she passes. She's not perfect and neither are we, but we continue to work and improve. We're currently practicing the skills and lessons that Lauren taught us and will continue to consult with her for refreshers or additional advice as the need arises. If you have a dog with problems - or you are a new pet-owner without past experience - do yourself and your dog a favor and call Lauren. There is only upside to working with Sit Stay Wag Dog Training!
Phoebe is an animal behavior miracle worker and the best in the industry as far as I m concerned! I cannot say enough good things about working with her! In fact, I don t think words could do justice to how highly I regard her and how positively impact she has been to my life and my family (dog-children included, of course!)! I have two German Shepherd Dogs who are the loves of my life, but they can certainly be a handful without proper training, reinforcement and care. When I first met Phoebe, I only had my female GSD, Ranger, who was about 1yr old at the time and she owned me , so to speak (completely my fault). Thankfully, Phoebe was able to correct some of Ranger s bad behavior s (again, my fault), train me on being a good leader, and get her basic obedience in check, all while maintaining Ranger s personality and attitude . Soon after Phoebe began working with Ranger, my family decided to get a second GSD, Stryker. This time, we worked with Phoebe throughout the entire process of obtaining a new dog, i.e., selecting the right breeder; puppy testing to choose a puppy with the best temperament for my family; selecting a great veterinarian; proper nutrition and supplements; preventing injuries; choosing safe toys; socializing the new puppy; and, introducing the new puppy to the family and to my other dog, Ranger. Once Stryker was old enough, Phoebe trained him extensively and he is now just about the perfect dog, a gentle giant! I now get compliments almost daily on the behavior of my dogs during walks, but to be completely honest, if my dogs were not as well-trained, I probably wouldn't be able to walk them at all. Finally, to top it all off, Phoebe is just a great human being with a work ethic like no other. She has stayed in my home several times with my dogs for extended periods of time and not only have I always returned to clean, better-behaved dogs, but also to an immaculate house! I could go on forever. If anyone is on the fence about hiring her, feel free to call or email me. Choosing Phoebe to work with your beloved dogs will be one of the wisest decisions you make for both your dogs and your family!
John is fantastic. Our dog is a 62 lb 1 year old male, very energetic and rambunctious. When we got him, he needed not only exercise, but also training and socialization. John provides it all! He takes our dog for 90 - 120 min hikes in Funston 3/wk. John makes sure our dog is well matched with the others in the group, so they all get along and get enough exercise and positive play. Our dog is always calm and content after his walks. John also sends up pictures so we can see how much fun (and sprinting) our dog is having. Plus we've noticed a marked improvement in our dog's recall, leash training, and how well he plays with other dog since being with John. I highly recommend John and ABC Dogs!
It is an honor to recommend Robyn Potts as your pet companion / house sitter. It is because of her that we are finally able to take worry-free vacations after adopting a mother-daughter dog duo three years ago. I cant say enough good things about Robyn. As a dog sitter, she was willing to treat our (spoiled) dogs the way we do: many kisses and cuddles and letting them sleep with her. As a matter of fact, after keeping them the first time, she returned to our house for a social visit, and I got a little jealous! My usually reluctant canines were ecstatic to see her, running circles around her, wanting to be held, sitting by her on the sofa (rather than me unheard of!) and wanting to follow her out. I knew then Robyn was a find! As a house sitter, I am always completely comfortable with Robyn. Shes neat and tidy, confident about taking care of any problems that might arise [we live on a floating home], and totally trustworthy! I almost hesitate to recommend her because it creates competition for her time :-), but as a pet family, I know that its difficult to find sitters who are honest, capable, and warm so I feel I must share.
Sheila is awesome! She has worked and connected well with my rescue puppy Marley. We worked on obedience with Marley and Sheila was very knowledgeable and gave us many tools to work with our pup. She truly loves and cares for animals and that's very important to have in a dog trainer. She has also promoted my dog bandana business and I thought that was so nice of her. She truly is a honest and amazing dog trainer and I recommend to anyone! Thanks Sheila!!
Gloria has been our dog walker/pet sitter for about 9 months now. She is the BEST!!! My husband and I both work full time and hate to leave our sweet little pup for so many hours each day. We feel so reassured knowing that Gloria is there to take care of him while we are away. We use Gloria 3 days a week, she comes midday to take our dog out for a long hour walk. She is so sweet and loving towards our dog, he gets soooo excited to see her! She will often times go longer than the scheduled hour walk on a day she feels our dog has a lot of pent up energy. She will spend time playing with him and likes to walk him to a dog park near our home where he can get some socialization with other dogs in addition to his walk. She always makes sure to fill his water bowl with fresh cold water and get him situated at home before leaving. Whenever we leave town we use Gloria as our pet sitter, she does such a wonderful job caring for our dog, she is great about sending pictures and updates to let us know how our boy is doing. She is available on short notice, and she was even kind enough to watch our dog over Thanksgivng. She takes great care of our home and will even bring in the mail and water our plants. Gloria is extremely responsible, and truly cares about the wellbeing of our dog. She helped care for him after he was neutered and I felt totally confident leaving him in her care. Our dog had an eye infection recently while we were out of town and Gloria was so good about giving him his eye drops twice a day, which is not an easy thing to do with our wiggly puppy. We love Gloria, she is so reliable and has never called in sick or missed a single walk. We feel so lucky to have found her, and appreciate all that she does for our little family. We reccomend her to anyone who is in need of a dog walker or pet sitter!
I have two Labradors with very different personalities. I joined a group class that Teri was leading with the hopes of getting help with specific issues with my lively dogs. What I got was a great deal more. Yes my questions were answered but what I really came away with was an approach to dog training, a way of thinking about interacting with dogs in a positive way to get the most out of them and my relationship to them. Teri really know what she is doing and can help you work out a way to resolve any issues you are having with your dog.
We have a black lab who we got when he was 7 weeks old. When we got him, we were told that he had a mellow personality and that he would be calm. This was not true. Our puppy was a handful, high energy, and out of control. We tried classes, and a trainer, and things did not improve. We found Juniper, and she turned the situation around. She is excellent with dogs and puppies. She was able to provide the right training for our dog, which included positive reinforcement, and proper exercise and diet. Juniper also gave us a lot of pointers about how to interact with our dog. One of our challenges was that our dog had no attention span. Juniper taught us how to do mental training exercises with our dog that enabled him to increase his attention span. And he really enjoyed these too. Theo is still a high energy dog, but he is also obedient and fun to be around. Juniper found a dog park nearby, and we take him every week for a vigorous game of fetch, which he loves. We now live in the house in a more harmonious way and we are very grateful. It took a lot of human and dog social skills to transform our complicated situation into something that works. Juniper has what it takes to understand both your dog and you.
I have a French Bulldog, I have learned how to train my dog with out forcing him and he did not respond to being forced . Thank you Connie for teaching me a better way, My dog likes to learn now and we have a good time. I have been able to teach him many tricks and also obedience skills . This class has made it possible for me to start Therapy dog testing . Gizmo and I are Grateful
We adopted a border collie/pit bull mix when she was about 6 months old. At about one year old, she started having some less than desirable behaviors. She would bark and pull while she was on the leash at joggers, bikers, motorcycles and other dogs. We were reaching the end of our rope, having tried a choke chain, a prong collar, even a backpack! We had gone to other dog training classes, nothing seemed to be helping. We called the PoochCoach and from our first lesson there has been nothing but improvement from her. Walking was almost a night and day difference right from the start, she taught us exactly how to communicate what we want from her so she knows what is expected from her. The Pooch Coach is always available for us to reach out to if we ever have any questions which is amazing. You never have to wonder if youre doing it correctly until the next appointment because you can always call to ask! The methods she uses makes the training fun for us and our dog which helps to turn practicing with her from a chore into bonding time that we are all excited about. We cant wait to see what else we can learn!
