Paul Grether is a very talented musician and teacher and a great person. He is wonderful with kids. He is sweet, smart, motivational, caring and funny. My 9 year old son loves him and loves his guitar lessons. He gave up tennis to have two guitar lessons a week. Paul is so affordable to top it off that we are able to afford two one hour lessons a week. I am thrilled to pieces. Anyone would be lucky to have guitar lessons with Paul.
Great Teacher! His playing demonstrates a profound knowledge of his instrument. Whether hes teaching you new techniques, chords and inversions, different styles of playing, or the basics of music theory, the lessons are presented in a way tangible to the student. He is better than any guitar player I've seen, so he can take you to the next level if you are already good, or he can help you as a beginner like me.
I decided to take guitar lessons 2 years ago after trying to learn on my own with limited success. I tried group lessons and got a little better but was limited by other students who didn't practice. I was fortunate to find Paul after talking with several teachers. Paul was willing to teach what I wanted to learn and push me to get better. Paul has exceeded my expectations. I'm better and having more fun playing guitar than I ever hoped. I highly recommend Paul for anyone wanting to learn guitar.
We decided to chose Brian for my teenage daughter's beginning guitar lessons due to his willingness to teach her the type of songs that she wanted. Right away he connected with her and her music. He taught her the theory behind playing guitar as well as teaching her the tricks and skills of how to play the guitar. His practices were enjoyable and not just rote. She learned very quickly and therefore stayed excited about learning. Brian was always very complementary and encouraging. Brian also helped us buy useful equipment like a tuner, etc. She always felt safe and comfortable. We would highly recommend Brian as a guitar teacher.
Beginner electric bass guitar lessons, 1 hour per week, at Rancho Canyon Music. I have been taking lessons with Lou for two months. Lou is an experienced, knowledgeable, and patient instructor. Additionally, he is personable and has a good sense of humor which makes the lessons fun. Lou finds ways to easily relate a theory or technique to you in everyday terms. He is a formally trained musician who performs regularly for audiences. His training and regular performing, coupled with his teaching techniques makes him my first choice for music instruction. Lou arrives on time and is ready begin working with you, evidence he values your time as well. Lou goes above and beyond for his students by providing in class resources, useful online content, and instructional online videos. All of which I have found helpful and not readily found in other music instructors. Lou can quickly analyze what is happening and provide you with helpful input to help you understand and improve. It is clear to me Lou understands the teaching process. He explains things in a logical order, using building blocks of learning. I would highly recommend Lou to all of my family and friends. An hour lesson is filled with easily digestible information and practical application. My understanding and enjoyment of playing my bass guitar has been energized working with Lou.
I am 57 years old (no Spring chicken) and came to Thomas for tenor sax lessons. My purpose is to perform and record sax solos for classic rock and blues. Thomas does a great job with understanding my goals and giving me a road map to achieve them. Very patient and intuitive.
Chris is a skillful instructor who will help you develop guitar techniques in the first lesson. I needed help with the basics and he helped me improve on the fundamentals and groundwork of the guitar. Highly recommend!
Omar was great at helping me understand music theory. Being a beginner, he showed me how to break down strumming patterns and chords so that it would be easier for me to practice and progress.
I have been taking guitar lessons from Kimberly via Skype for about six years. I really like her teaching style which is systematic and focused. She tailors her lessons to my goals and time. Her teaching method is to help you gain insight and skill through patient practice of gradually changing exercises. She doesn't snow you with theory, but presents it to you in digestible amounts just when it will make sense. She welcomes questions and I always learn from our discussions. She has led me to learn techniques on the guitar that I was absolutely sure I could never learn. For something to seem impossible at the start, to seem possible a week later and to be routine a month later is amazingly uplifting. Kimberly's background was first a life of teaching herself and playing gigs with all kinds of bands in all kinds of places. She has also deepened and strengthened her knowledge by gaining academic degrees in guitar and jazz and also by studying under masters. This gives her an incredibly deep understanding of learning and teaching music, an immense skill in playing guitar, and an appreciation for the challenges of playing with other people. I especially love her continued enthusiasm for guitar and that she really enjoys teaching. I have found in Kimberly the best of teachers and highly recommend her without reservation.
Michael, from my first lesson was so attentive to what I wanted to learn. Kind of in passing, I told him that I loved to sing but was afraid to so he really coaxed me to sing along to all the guitar songs I was learning (I really do not think that any other guitar teacher would have bothered...like "not my job". But, not Michael, he took that on as his job because he recognized that it was important to me). Likewise, when I would show an interest in a particular type of music (i.e. I like acoustic and more mellow, verging on country even), he found songs like that for me and he taught me my songs I had picked even though I doubt that they would have been his picks. In summary, he wanted me to relate to and enjoy the music; the lessons are all about what I want to get out of them...with professional guidance along the way as well. The other thing I want to definitely mention is that, Michael is top-knotch, professional and KNOWS music. He encouraged me to not only learn songs to play but to understand the theory of the music in those songs. I feel very proficient in music theory after taking classes with Michael. I not only play the stuff but I "get it." I understand the technical theory involved. I really think that this is something not every guitar teacher brings to the table or encourages. Many just do not know it! With Michael, we can move from guitar to piano so that he can illustrate something about chords in a key or the difference between major, minor, dominant and diminished chords. Bottom line, I have fun during my lesson but I learn so much more than memorizing chord shapes on the guitar. And, when I play and sing a song...well, it really feels great! Honestly, he is the BEST! He just cares so much about you learning all you can regarding music and he knows how to teach it so that you get to understand what can at first seem so unfamiliar. Michael has the holistic approach. He makes music familiar, logical, relatable and, most of all, Enjoyable. As his student, thumbs-up!
My 8 year old son just started taking piano lessons a little over a month ago. He LOVES it!! Mark is an amazing teacher who arrives to our house on time every time! He works around our schedule. My son askes a ton of questions during the lesson and Mark answers all of them with patience, understanding, and professionalism. I never have to ask my son to practice the piano because he truly enjoys playing and looks forward to his lessons each week. This love of leaning the piano truly came from Mark. So thank you for making this such a fun positive adventure for my son!!
I am taking private lesson with Mike Smith. He is a very talented and patience guitar instructor.I am very happy with the quality of guitar lessons I have received from him so far. I highly recommend him to anybody who would like to take guitar lessons.
I'm super happy with my guitar lessons. Kellen has really focused the lessons on what I talked about wanting to work on. He's a great teacher and he's been very patient, it's been a very rewarding experience.
Without a doubt, David Hilton is one of the most accomplished bass players in the area and lucky for the rest of us, he is also a fantastic bass teacher. To the first time student, his musical knowledge may come across as overwhelming, but don't worry, David is adept at finding where the student "is" and then getting the student to progress quickly. David is adept at teaching many styles, but his roots lie in the Jazz genre, so if you are at all interested in mastering harmony theory and improvisation on the bass (including and particularly, the fretless bass) from any level, David is the man to see. You won't be dissapointed.
Linda has been my son's private cello teacher for many years. With her help he jumped straight into the advanced chamber orchestra at high school as a freshman. We recently added music theory to his regular weekly lessons and as a result his grade for his AP music theory class at the high school is a 99.5%. Here's hoping for a 5 on his AP test!
I am what you would call a beginner+ when it comes to piano. I had taken lessons in middle school and stopped because I couldn't sit still. I bought a small electronic keyboard after college and would hit the keys here and there when I wanted to learn some pop song or something that caught my ear on the radio. I knew I lacked a good foundation and never really get to the next level without solid instruction. What I found in Kevin King outdid all of my expectations. From the start you can tell that he is passionate about what he does and when he plays the piano it's difficult not to become totally entranced. I was one of his few students that was not trying to play professionally so he had to significantly tone down his piano vocabulary but once he figured out my level he was able to keep me right in the pocket of always feeling challenged while not ever making me feel discouraged. He has a process that he has honed over the years and if you want to learn how to play the piano the right way he is the one to go to. You will learn the fundamentals of the instrument and how to create the building blocks of scales, chord progressions, tempo, and dabble in all the different musical styles. If you are looking just to learn specific songs he incorporates that as well - will provide you sheet music, instruct you how to play the piece dynamically and add a wonderful array of extra bells and whistles that you can incorporate into the song and wow those around you. Sign up and learn from Kevin...you will not be disappointed.
Base is reliable, punctual, and jumps right in when he arrives! He is focused on the student and pushes them (even if shy) with kindness and humor to grow and learn. My daughter is 12 and really enjoying her vocal lessons with him. We think he's great!!
The first time I got guitar lessons from Michael I learned the beginner guitar chords right away and he knew what pace to go at. He knows where your weaknesses and strengths are and teaches in a way that doesn't feel rushed. He's been my teacher for a few months now and it's always a blast!
Davey is a great teacher! He really got to know our daughter and tailors her lessons to best suit her. He teaches her how to read music while also giving her a chance to have fun with her guitar. Her lesson is the perfect balance of reading music and practicing from her book along with fun jam sessions with Davey.
Juan is awesome and really seems to love the art of teaching. He can explain a technique and then play examples on his guitar. Just my first lesson but I really am looking forward to the next one !!!
Roman really knows his craft but he is also a really fun and patient teacher. He has helped me a lot with music theory and improvisation.
