I needed someone to move some TVs and art around to redecorate and refresh our office conference room, reception area and some of our executives' offices. Kerry was punctual and he did a great job. I chose him over several other highly rated providers because of his interior design and organization background and I am so glad I did. He enhanced the plans I started with and the project areas look better than I imagined. Kerry is a patient perfectionist!

Megan and her team go above and beyond to create a unique and personal experience for they clients. I have seen them in action on multiple occasions, and they do FAR MORE than just floral design. They are able to offer complete event coordination, wait staff, all sorts of goodies. They are prompt, courteous, efficient, and tireless in their efforts. They are unwavering in their commitment to excellence and work with a gracious, upbeat, and professional demeanor. As a business owner myself, I've worked with hundreds of planners and florists (never the two in one though!), and can honestly say I would hire Megan for my own events, IN A HEARTBEAT. Do not hesitate. If you found her, hire her! You're in INCREDIBLE hands!

Our first florist choice fell through and in less than a week, she was able to pull off 12 centerpieces for a gala for a corporate conference as well as another piece for our registration table. The centerpieces were what we wanted and folks at the end of the night wanted to take them home to their family, friends, wives, girlfriends, etc.! Shelly is extremely accommodating and provided us quality work for our event! She's very communicative and detailed in her questions to ensure the client received exactly what they requested, and then some! I recommend phone contact vs. email, but she is responsive either way. She's also great about offering her creative input to guide the client toward a final product as we are not all experts in the floral and centerpiece department. Would recommend and use her again if the opportunity presented itself!

It was a beautiful baby shower decoration. Alexia made the decoration looks stunning! I received so many compliments about the decor. Our backdrop is lovely and more than I had ever envisioned myself. She definitely exceeded my expectations. Our tables, balloons were also way more beautiful than I would ever have thought. You truly get so much from working with Alexia and her partner. I really just showed her some pictures, gave her my vision, and she executed flawlessly. 100% Recommend.

Yes, some would think that one wood blind is the same as any wood blind. I regretfully found out that this is not true. I thought I would save time and just purchase the builders window blinds package that was offered when I was selecting the options for my new home. Well, after only six months of living in my home the wood blinds started to warp and crack. They made my brand new home look terrible. It was a terrible investment. I found Made in the Shade Blinds & More and they were able to schedule an appointment with me the following day. They came and educated me on the fact that all wood blinds are not alike and I just wasted a lot of money. They were able to show me wood blinds samples, explain and show me the difference between the wood blinds they offer and the ones installed in my house. All of the window treatments they offer come with a limited life-time warranty. The kicker is - I paid just a little bit more than I did when I purchased the builder package. Made in the Shade Blinds & More is an excellent company and I highly highly recommend them.

Sandi has been great with helping us plan our living room remodel. She came to our house to take pictures and then created visual designs to help us see her ideas for our room. She has also provided references to general contractors as well as electricians for our lighting needs. We went with one of her referrals to install recessed LED lights for our hallway and bedrooms. She helped us set up the appointment, arranged the pricing, and then followed up to see if we were satisfied with the work. Although we still haven't moved forward with our living room remodel yet, she is continuing to work with us to make this room happen. Sandi is friendly, professional, and talented - we highly recommend working with Sandi for your interior design needs.

I needed help choosing paint colors for the the walls and what color flooring I should use that would match the furniture I have and the rest of my decor. She also helped choose the type and color of carpet for my stairs. Cheryl has a good eye for color and new how colors will change once I had painted and the floors were installed. Everything worked out great. She also had some good suppliers to refer me to.

AMAZINGGGG!! I absolutely loved everything they made at my bridal shower in February! I wasn't sure exactly what i wanted, but gave them a few ideas and they made them come to life! The team was so so nice and very accommodating! The florist's 20+ experience is very obvious in his work. He's truly talented! I was more than happy to write them a review when they asked. I would 100% reccomend to all my friends and family!

I needed a Wedding Coordinator to decorate the reception venue on the day of the wedding since I wasn’t going to have time to do so, Valentina contacted me and from her initial email I knew she was perfect! Her email stood out from others due to her professionalism and well thought out questions, she came off as someone that knew what the job entailed and asked all the right questions. The wedding was 5 months away Valentina kept in touch and as the date draw closer scheduled a meeting to go over the details meeting her in person just solidified my decision. Throughout the months Valentina made sure to very politely keep in touch with me always offering to help in anything needed despite the fact that I had only hired her for the day of. In the few days before the wedding she contacted me to check on last details, 3 days before the wedding I had to completely change the lay-out and was in constant communication with her for the next 2 days. Valentina went above and beyond to make our day perfect, I really never did worry about the reception decoration because she was in charge she gave me such peace of mind it was really great to be able to trust someone so much and not have to worry. The day came and she did an absolutely great job, she got to the venue early, set up the tables, décor, managed the florist and arrangements, deliveries, picked up a cake, greeted our guests and announced our entrance. Valentina was absolutely amazing and wedding coordination is really her calling, she had great taste decorating the cake table, gift table, everything looked beautiful. She added a few flowers to the cake and sent me a picture for approval it was so classy and beautiful and something I hadn’t thought of. Valentina was a joy to work with, always professional, kind and willing to do a great job she was my best vendor and I’m so grateful for her she saved me a lot of stress and did a great job my guests were blown way and are still talking about how beautiful the reception was. I’m a Project Planner by profession and looked forward to planning my own wedding which was fun, but I would not hesitate to hire Valentina and just let her plan and execute the entire event, in fact had I known her earlier I probably would just have hired and let her design and manage it. We are having a backyard wedding this weekend and needed a spa and garage door concealed with drapery. The owner of Infuse Designs, Luis, came over last night and put up the pipe and drapes and did the lighting and it looks AMAZING. I was worried about it and he far exceeded my expectations. Not only does he do fantastic work but he's just a really nice person. Highly recommend him for wedding drapery and lighting.

Working with Amanda was a great experience. She has help me pick out carpet, chairs and an area rug to match my decor. She really wanted to help me find exactly what I wanted. She was very patient. It took about 2 months for me to decide on the dining room chairs. Amanda has excellent taste. I look forward to working with her on future projects.

Laura was great to work with! At first I wasn't sure that I was going to add a day-of wedding coordinator to my budget but after my first phone call with Laura, I knew it was essential. She's an expert about event set-up, timelines and catering so I immediately felt at ease and knew that if I hired her I could relax and enjoy my wedding day instead of worrying about the details. Laura and her assistant Jody were essential at our wedding - they gracefully handled everything behind the scenes and made sure it was a perfect day for my husband and I and our guests. My friends and family commented on how great Laura was at pushing everything along throughout the day, and troubleshooting when necessary. Laura's day-of coordination service might just be the most important service that I purchase for my wedding day!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

  • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
  • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
  • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

  • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
  • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
  • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
  • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
