10. Functional Movement Therapy
"I can honestly say that Beth Downey has single-handedly changed my views on working out, staying healthy, and has basically changed my life. I can honestly say that I'm in the best shape of my life and doing things I never thought possible.
For years, I would join the gym, be excited for a few months and excercise faithfully. Then I would slow down, then quit altogether because I had no direction and routine was boring. Personal trainers were too expensive.
I met Beth in the Fall of 2010 when I attended one of the free Gauntlet sessions offered by the local gym. After the second session, I joined the gym that day! This was my first experience with functional training, and I LOVED it immediately. For the next 2 years, I attended faithfully at least twice/week and sometimes up to 5 times in one week! That was the longest I'd ever stayed connected to a gym - ever!
Beth's classes are addicting; they are fun, they provide a social atmosphere, and they are far from routine. Everyday is different, and there is never the same workout twice. Barbells, boxes, and sledgehammers aren't scary to me anymore; tires aren't just for tractors, they're made for flipping and provide a base for beating the sledgehammers. I can't find one bad thing about the Gauntlet's functional training methods ... Oh wait! Burpees, I still HATE them, but not enough to quit.
And finally (yes, almost done), Beth is an AMAZING, AMAZING person. She is patient, and funny, and smart, and truly cares about the well-being of her clients - definitely not your stereotypical meathead trainer. She goes above and beyond what is necessary to make her clients happy. She 'tortured' us even when she's wasn't there. Yet, I still showed up for the best hour of my day!
So if you're looking for a great trainer, therapist, and friend all in one, look no further than Functional Movement Therapy. You will NOT be disappointed! This will make you more healthy and make your life easier."
