"I get it! I know what it’s like - I jumped on my diet roller coaster at the age of 12 I hated my body, I knew I didn't look like the girls on television or in the magazines so I started to diet. Alongside feeling deprived of the foods I loved, I also looked to satiate my emotional stressors that the sugary foods relieved. I would "white knuckle it" until I would simply lose control and eat something I wasn't supposed to. I figured I “blew it anyway” so I would eat even more. Then, I would beat myself up mentally, I was ashamed that I was a failure at that diet so I would look for another one and the cycle would begin again. I lived that for 18 years! After some serious trial and error, I figured out the way to break free from this yo-yo diet cycle and have been free for over 16 years! Not only have I helped myself out of this shameful cycle but I've helped hundreds of others just like you break free as well. You see, it's not about the food. or the diet. It's about getting to the heart of why we turn to food to help us "feel good" which causes us to overeat. What makes me different, is that I help you do that. Through my process, I can guide you to release those unhealthy eating patterns and replace them with healthy ones, alleviating over-eating altogether. Dieting becomes obsolete, and the extra weight falls off. This is what creates long-term success. I get excited for my clients as I see them transforming their bodies, reaching their goals, and gaining confidence as they do so. From there, I stay in touch with my clients- making sure they are doing their best throughout the week. I also take my time with each client to ensure that they understand what they are doing and why. I will coach them how to breathe while they exercise. I help to transform them not just physically but mentally and emotionally. I enjoy working with beginner and intermediate physical level folks. At first, they start out not so confident and say things like "I will never be able to do that" or "I cant do that". Then I teach them how to achieve whatever that is with progressions over time. Those "AhHa" moments are very important and the best to watch! I also specialize in working with overweight/obese individuals and people over 50. I have studied with the Functional Aging Institute. What do you love about your job?
I really love helping people. I spent a good part of my life trying to figure out how I could best help others. Eventually, I found that I love exercise and what it has done for me. I want to share that with as many people as I can find. I love helping clients meet their goals, as well as attain a healthier lifestyle. The connections I make with people are another benefits of my job even if it's just long enough to get someone started or to have a long-term friendship.
Who or what inspired you to start your business?
I was inspired to become a personal trainer by the changes I made in my own life using safe exercise and proper nutrition. I previously weighed about 115 lbs., but through attaining my fitness goals, I am now a healthy 180 lbs. I knew that if I could do this, then anyone could. I have become even more inspired by the changes I see in my clients and the excitement they have in reaching their goals. The knowledge that the quality of their lives is increasing gives me pride in what I do.
