I've only been working with Maria for about 2 weeks (twice a week). Not very long, I know but long enough to feel comfortable recommending her to anyone who is serious about learning to speak Spanish. She doesn't get off track and tries hard to make the hour as productive as possible. Call will learn.

I am certainly pleased to write this review on my Spanish learning experience. Knowing that I would move to Mexico I began to look for the best option I could find to learn Spanish. I tryed two different alternatives, but as time passed I could not really perceived the advance I thought I really needed. Knowing that time was running I became kind of anxious and stressed. Fortunatelly enough a good friend recommended me EZSpanish and after having a thorough talk with Carolina I realized this was what I may very well needed to recover the lost time and get what by then I was desperately needing. After a couple or three weeks I knew I was on the right track. Nowadays I can honestly say that after some time I was impressed with my advance acquiring the language which has given me the ability and ease to freely move and interact in this beautiful country that I now have as home. Carolina, gracias por todo el apoyo y ayuda que recibí de ti en el aprendizaje de este maravilloso idioma. Thank you very much, I will never forget what you did for me.

Dee has been an excellent Spanish teacher who has helped me refresh my Beginning and Intermediate Spanish. I needed a customized lesson plan that focused on my weakness in the language instead of a broad generalized lesson, and Dee was able to hone in on the aspects I needed to improve upon - primarily listening to and writing in Spanish. I fully recommend Dee Iverson as a Spanish tutor!

I am a teacher with music degree in Chile. I can make you pay service center for guitar lessons, piano, drums, music reading and Spanish in your home.

My services stand out because I am very passionate about kids in general. I have a lot of patience and can teach at any learning pace. I undersrand that some kids may need 180 minutes a week or more and some kids only need only as little as 90-minutes a week. I am also very reasonable in my rates and hour/session. I enjoy being able to start the foundation of a child's succes by teaching structures, diction, and vocabulary that are the difference between success and failure with a foreign language.I also love what I do just because of the so simple fact that I enjoy working with kids and I'm good at it.

I won't test you or give you quizzes. The best way to learn a language is to speak it! That's what I will help you do!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
