Mike is an amazing instructor. He teaches me songs I want to learn based on my skill level. This makes me really look forward to our lessons because I'm learning stuff I want to. I am an adult learning guitar and I have been given the same amount of encouragement that he would his other "younger" students :) I highly recommend the guitar lessons at Sollohub.
Melody is currently giving me piano lessons at her home and I have had a great experience so far! She is very friendly and a great teacher. The lessons are valuable and I feel that I am learning a lot!
Mary is awesome because she is very patient and thorough. I look forward to many more lessons..
Both my son and I take lessons from Jerimiah. I was hesitant to start after a 20 year hiatus from playing. Jerimiah is one of the kindest, most understanding, and most accommodating people I've ever met. My son, who is a very rambunctious child, can sit through a 45 minute lesson with ease. I have noticed my playing improved dramatically in a little over six weeks. I highly recommend him :)
My kid is starting piano lessons for the first time and Brooke inspires her to learn how to play and to improve.
My son was hesitant to start his guitar lessons, and if he didn’t like it, it would be a major ordeal to get him in the car to go. I work like everyone and have zero time left. The fact that Tess comes to the house to teach - while I prepare dinner - is freaking awesome. What a time saver. And shes made it a great experience by offering tons of encouragement and lots of laughter wrapped up in a neat 30 min session. Highly recommend.
I have had a great experience working with Tanya. The lessons are tailored to the student and what they are trying to achieve,as well as learning how to read music & understanding music theory. Most of all it is FUN !! Everyone I meet at the studio is smiling and enjoying themselves. Try it you will like it too!
I am so grateful for the vocal training that I have received from Karen. A year ago I started taking lessons from Karen hoping that I would be able to sing again. I grew up singing in high school choir, college choir, church, and weddings and I loved it! Shortly after college I stopped singing all together as I pursued other interests. I noticed in my late 30's that my voice changed and I noticed that my throat hurt after speaking or singing. It was sad to think that my once effortless voice was possibly gone. In order to seek help I searched for a vocal coach and made a goal to sing Handel's Messiah. Thanks to Karen's techniques and coaching my voice is back and even better than before! She really has the heart of a teacher and cares that I succeed in my goals and has been such an encourager to me through this journey! I'm looking forward to singing Handel's Messiah!
Catherine is such a beautiful person who made me feel so welcome and comfortable taking voice lessons for the first time. She is very knowledgable about her craft, and helped me gain the confidence and skills to break out of my comfort zone and sing with other musicians :) I would highly recommend Catherine especially if you are interested in exploring jazz, an area in which she has a lot of experience to offer.
This is my first experience with private lessons, but so far so good! Gene is easy to talk to and has a wealth of knowledge to share. Very comfortable practice space and fully equipped. If I had one complaint, it would be that as a beginner alot of his extensive knowledge goes over my head and I could use a more dumb downed explanation. Having said that, for those of you wanting a more in depth intermediate / advanced learning experience, Gene Crout has what your looking for! (Just being honest!) Thanx
Dave really helped me develop my technique and gave me solid information on theory. His approach was outstanding and I feel like his lessons are a great value.
We are very happy with the piano lessons Genevieve provides to our 9 year old son and our 7 year old daughter. They enjoy learning from her and they're given lots of choices for what they want to play. She's also very flexible with rearranging lesson times if we have to miss. The recitals and sectionals have been fun and helpful too, and we are looking forward to the summer camp if it works with our schedule. :)
Calee is an amazing teacher! She teaches in a way that everyone can understand and she’s really good at making sure each student feels confident and comfortable in what they’re doing. Calee is also just an extremely nice person and is really easy to talk to which makes the learning process easier. I would highly recommend Calee for lessons of all kinds!!
When I started having lessons with Leandro Lacava, I had no clue how to sing. I had never really sung before, my voice was pretty tense, and basically I just pushed a lot. My lessons with Leandro were almost like vocal therapy; there was a solid foundation in terms of the muscles involved in singing, and I felt like I was learning to use my voice in the best possible way. He made my voice do things I never thought it could do! He used very practical exercises and a clear method to give my voice more body, help me stop forcing, and more than that, he made me believe that I actually could sing! And you don't have to be born knowing how; you really can build your voice! Today I divide my singing experience into Pre-Leandro Lacava and Post-Leandro Lacava; that's how big the change in my voice was! And not only that, he's just a great person!
Egemen is an exceptional instructor / private tutor that builds the class based on the particular needs of each pupil. He meets with each individual to define goals for the class. Then, in order to reach these goals, he identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the pupil, and prepares the contents of the class accordingly. He never hesitates to take the extra step to come up with material that best suits the capabilities of the particular individual. No matter if you're interested in music theory, music composition, electronic music, or piano, Egemen is an inexhaustible resource that will keep you impatient for the next lesson.
Mrs. Fraser is a great teacher! My daughter had taken lessons with her for years now. It has always been a wonderful experience. My daughter has learned so much about the piano and music theory. She really cares about each student and their families. We always look forward to the piano recitals for her students each year. It is a wonderful showcase of each student and where they are at in their skills. Not to mention what an excellent piano performer she is as well! Thank you Mrs. Fraser for your dedication and talent!
I sing on a regular basis for work, but was looking to take my voice to the next level. I am only 2 lessons in with Meghan, but she has already shown me how to do things with my voice that I didn't know I could do. She has just been wonderful. I am SO happy that I found her!
I found Jenna to be a superb teacher. I've been her student now for a couple of months in weekly lessons. I plan to continue. I have been playing music as an instrumentalist and recently , as a singer. I love to sing, and i want to grow in this regard, but lack not only technique , but also the skills to have confidence and command when i sing. Jenna has begun to help me change in this regard. She has also made me more thoughtful about how to tell a story and grab the listener when singing. Jenna has taught me techniques to improve and color my tone, an to project. Jenna is focused, professional , articulate, and intuitive, has a sense of humor and sensitivity, yet is not only one who can sing, but can teach! She is technically qualified, and, punctual and reliable. I have learned physical and mental techniques to improve my breath control, phrasing, range and dynamics. And I have had fun. Perhaps most amazing is how quickly Jenna can identify and correct "issues". I find myself completely at ease and uninhibited with her.
Great teachers, and easy to coordinate lessons! All around awesome experience in advancing my piano skills.
I came to Carol Joy Evans with a "mental block" about singing in general, but especially in front of another person. In addition, my voice was persistently hoarse due to tight, clenched muscles. All this was exacerbated by an absolute lack of understanding about how to use the voice to make music. Her knowledge, insight, patience, and encouragement guided me onto a path of recovery and discovery that is remarkable, considering where I started. Outside of private lessons, she offers a variety of formal and informal opportunities appropriate for singers of any level: master classes, group sings, recitals, and musical socials. Her newsletters promote individuals as well as musical events of general interest.
Lyza is able to connect with young children and adapt to different learners. She started with our son when he was 3.5 and he was very interested in actually playing Instruments. Most folks just turned us down and told us to take one of those toddler group classes as he was too young for real lessons. The classes were all nice but not all that interesting to him. We tried several different places. All with great reviews like swallow hill and such. Lyza has a great balance of structure, free form, global exploration with the various instruments she brings with her, focus on specifics of an instrument and learning to read music. She is also a really intelligent, kind and fun person who you can completely trust with your child. Value - she comes to your home for 45 per hour. And it's a full hour. Often a bit longer. That is an amazing value. At |15-30 for various 45 minute group classes you are better off doing lessons with lyza every other week.
