I have been working with Casey for about a month now. I have always been an active person, but I wasn’t doing the right things and Casey has been so helpful to get me to where I need to be to achieve my fitness goals. Her experience and knowledge of both fitness and nutrition has extremely successful so far, and I can’t wait to see more results as we continue to work together! Thank you Casey!

Would highly recommend Andrew. The combination of dietician and nutritional knowledge is perfect for dealing with health issues, weight management and fitness needs. The fact that he is also a chef allows clients to have unique and enjoyable meals prepared for them if they choose. I have used all of his skill sets and the service has been excellent.

Chef Brando: (1) he has changed my life, (2) holy cow, this man can cook! Let me explain. My children both have an autoimmune disorder and their doctor has put them on a really, really, really restrictive diet. I really like my career, but in the past year, I’ve had to take a leave of absence because I have to spend around 6-7 hours a day cooking! We found Chef Brando a couple of months ago, and he has really turned things around for us. Chef Brando does his own research, he plans and plans, and he works so hard for us. The end result is that Chef Brando takes this ridiculously restrictive food plan, and makes the most delicious amazing food ever. Did I mention that Chef Brando also makes the meals nutritionally complete? My son tells me that Chef Brando’s food is “to die for.” (I agree). Now I actually have time to spend with my family! And my kids look forward to Chef Brando’s food every week. We are truly grateful to Chef Brando.

First and foremost Luke is a very genuine person and 100% committed to helping people reach their independent goals. He is a holistic thinker and very educated and experienced in personal training, nutrition, and tailoring fitness plans to individual needs. I have learned the value weight training, stretching, eating enough and the right nutrients for MY unique needs and how to efficiently burn fat. There were never any judgements and I quickly became comfortable doing something I couldn’t do for 30 some years. Luke is a big part of the confidence I have today.

Jennie responded to my request for help immediately. She has been very hands on, and readily accessible for any questions or requests. I thought it would take a long time to overcome my sugar addiction, and associated lethargy, but I am delighted with how quickly I experienced a difference by following Jennie's nutrition plan. And the bonus is the increased energy to follow the workout routine. I am on my way to better health and a stronger body.

Christine is amazing and I can't recommend her highly enough. I came to Christine exhausted from overwork and eating badly--living off of baked goods and coffee and feeling tired all the time because of a lack of nutrition. Christine took the time to understand exactly what I could handle, she has given me amazing advice on how to eat well under time constraints, and has given me the most delicious recipes I have ever had. She also taught me how to make foods I never thought about making myself (kimchee, kefir, kombucha...). My body was clearly craving this change. Now I wake up every morning singing a little happy song to my delicious morning bone broth (seriously my favorite thing ever) and I have at least twice as much energy as sad-overcaffeinated me had before. If you care about feeling good in your skin, run to Christine.

Tessa has worked with me for quite some time. I credit her with helping me on several fronts. She has helped with chronic pain in my neck, shoulders, hips, and lower back. Her advice on nutrition and work out regimen has increased my overall well being and , specifically, my heart health. Her obvious interest in proper technique and discipline stand out and get very solid and lasting results. I value her advice as it is evident that it is based on knowledge and experience and caring.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
