Wonderful trainer! As a former cyclist who has a long-term mobility disability and chronic pain due to a spine injury, looking for a personal trainer who can hold me to high standards for physical performance while also avoiding triggering any injuries that would require yet another surgery is a really hard task. Michael is the first person I have worked with who is able to negotiate both. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in neurological injuries with his background in spine physical therapy rehab and also an expert eye in detecting issues in form that have translated into better gains in physical strength and performance for me on a weekly basis. Michael has such a deep knowledge of different modalities of exercise that we can consistently change up workouts and cycles to focus on different outcomes (e.g., stamina, raw strength, etc.), keep things interesting, and still not need to dive into any of the activities placed off-limits by my surgeon. In addition, Michael is also well-versed in working with people of different bodies, as well as different identities and backgrounds; as a disabled queer person with a non-US background, I would whole-heartedly recommend him as a qualified and much-more than competent trainer to work supportively folks of different identities and background (which, if this applies to you, you know is not true of many trainers in the Denver-area!). And, although it's not exactly in the job description, I must mention that he's also a great, empathic, and funny person that you will not mind spending time with. If you're looking for a trainer, and especially if you might have different needs from someone in this space, I would strongly recommend giving Michael a chance.

There are so many great things I can say about Michael to name a few he’s punctual, professional and very knowledgeable. He is quite possibly the best trainer I’ve ever had. Michael offers a complete program that not only focuses on exercise but also nutrition. With regard to nutrition, Michael will ask you to track all of your food. I was provided with nutrient goals and ideas for meals and snacks. There is no strict diet regiment. If you eat it you track it. With Michael the focus is learning to make healthy eating decisions. This will not happen overnight and it’s not always easy. Michael is a wealth of information. I’ve gone from eating fast food, to not eating much at all almost daily, to preparing healthy meals ahead of time for my busy workweeks. When it comes time to working out with Michael you will never know what he has up his sleeve. He constantly varies exercises and switches up workouts. I’ve learned how to properly use weights and exercise equipment and how to improvise if something I need isn’t available. I’ve also learned the modifications for exercises that may be too hard or not hard enough. He also has caters to my injuries! Sometimes I couldn’t work out because I had some old injury. He helped me work around that. Don’t forget though, you will get out what you put in. Michael will be there to give you tools, knowledge and motivation to succeed. It’s up to you to use them to their fullest. Without hesitation I would recommend Michael to anyone looking for a personal trainer.

After years of neglecting my physical and nutritional health, I decided to take a leap of faith and hire a Personal Trainer. I had gained over 50lbs in 5 years, ending up a very out of shape 60+ year old woman. My search for an educated, personal trainer was meet when I hired Michael @ MJ Studios. Michael's degree in Biomedicine, nutrition with certifications in personal training, along with his personal journey gaining and losing 50lbs resonated with me. Within hours Michael and I made an agreement to meet the following week. On that day, there I was with my shoulders bent forward, dragging my feet and butt to our meet-up. Michael was standing outside watching me stumble forward. He immediately put me at ease. We discussed my goals, what, why and how he could help me accomplish these. Michael then asked me to walk on a treadmill, a test of sorts to see where I was and where he needed to start. Observing me trying to navigate the correct way to walk on the treadmill, Michael immediately recognized that my stride, gait and balance were not there. I, of course was oblivious. Who can't walk on a treadmill. Michael did'nt know about the broken foot i had walked on for over a year, nor comments regarding my "limping", tripping over things was an issue. I had'nt put two and two together. There could be no way I would fully benefit from an intense excercise program until I had corrected my gait, balance and form. Within two months, I learned through Michael's gait and balance excercises to walk correctly and balance. I know without a doubt, if I had hired a random Personal Trainer without Michael's knowledge and expertise, I would have not followed through, quitting or worse injuring myself. With excercise and nutrition I have lost 15 lbs. I now know the importance of eating a balanced diet, along with performing excercises correctly. My physical endurance has increased two-fold. What was once difficult is now an automatic response to the gait, balance and excercise training. Sleeping at night is now normal. I have energy which dramatically improved after 6 weeks. With this increase in excercise and nutrition, I tapered a medication giving my brain what it required naturally. I am grateful and thankful for the expertise, knowledge and commitment Michael has inspired in me. To go above and beyond what I thought I could do to being able to achieve the most I can do on this journey to excellant health.

I've been working with Michael for 8 months now and am very satisfied with the sessions I've had with him. He has been in this field for a number of years and has given me a good variety of exercise and stretching routines to work on as well as good advice on proper nutrition. I highly recommend Michael as a choice for personal trainer.

Michael is the BEST! He is so knowledgeable about nutrition, creative workouts, and how the muscles and body movement work best for your workout. He focuses a lot on safety and will tweak workouts if needed. He is always on time and is very fun to workout with. I dropped two sizes in less than 6 months by working out with him 2 times a week. All my clothes fit better and I feel healthier and happier. I highly recommend him as a trainer!
