How can I find a good voice teacher?

Use Thumbtack to find a good, top-rated voice teacher near you. With Thumbtack, you can view the teachers’ profiles, read their client testimonials and check their ratings. To ensure you hire the best instructor, ask them questions about their credentials and success with other students. What is a good age to start vocal lessons?

Whether you’re a novice or experienced singer, it’s never too late to start taking vocal lessons.

If you’re thinking about signing up your child for voice lessons, keep in mind that some instructors recommend waiting until their voice settles after puberty. Talk to voice coaches near you to find out if now's the time for you (or your child) to start taking lessons.

What are singing lessons like?

Every voice coach may have a different style of teaching, but here are a few things you'll likely experience during a singing lesson:

  • Explaining to the instructor what you want to improve on.
  • Going through a few breathing and riff exercises.
  • Receiving constructive feedback and criticism from the instructor.

Before your first voice lesson, you can ask your instructor what you should expect and how to prepare.

Reviews for Denver voice instructors
Ana I.
After a month of having Jen as a teacher, my friends have noticed a difference in my voice. She has showed me my vocal range, voice type, and demonstrated a lot of patience in our lessons. I’ve been singing 10+ yrs in a worship team and doing voices that I shouldn’t, but thanks to Jen I am now comfortable in knowing where I am vocally. I highly recommend her as a teacher if you seek to better your instrument.

Melody is teaching my 8 year old daughter piano and voice. She is very calm, patient, and encouraging and my daughter looks forward to her lessons. I was worried that a 45 min. lesson would be too long for a child, but Melody does a great job of alternating singing with piano and basic musical instruction to keep it interesting. She is very knowledgeable about music and has a comfortable studio in her apartment. We enjoy visting with her friendly labradoodle too! I'd definitely recommend her to anyone interested in piano, voice, or a combination of both.
