Joseph is super responsive with an emphasis put on customer service. He helped me with a dishwasher repair job that other installers refused to do. I was very satisfied with his work, communication, and availability. He is now my go to for anything having to do with my apartment!

Roosevelt is a great service professional. He was prompt and polite throughout my sub zero refrigerator repair. When he had to revisit the problem (through no fault of his own), Roosevelt returned free of charge to help me assess the situation and repair the refrigerator again. I highly recommend him.

I couldn't figure out why I could get the lever to flush the toilet. Jason came and figured it out immediately and volunteered to walk to Home Depot to get the parts that were needed. A part in the level had broken. So he walked the 20 blocks to get the part and fixed it. I am very grateful to him. He literally went the extra mile for the job. He was very nice as a person and had made a career out of toilet and faucet repair, so he is very knowledgeable. I would hire him again and I would immediately recommend him to a friend.

Sonny did a great job installing a new ceiling fan / light fixture that had an unusual connection. My house has some poor wiring and Sonny's insistence on doing things correctly makes me confident that my house is now a safer place. He also added a new outlet and repaired another outlet that was old and wobbly.

First time hiring on Thumbtack. Rose was quick to respond, and also patient enough to wait for me to make my decision. The repairman, John, was a nice guy. He confirmed the cost to repair the dishwasher would be more than it’s worth and suggested I just buy a new one. The only reason I’m not giving a 5 star review is because he was here for 15 minutes, and only spent about 8-9 minutes actually doing something to my dishwasher. The rest of the time we just talked about pets. Not that I minded the conversation, but I would have been happier if he didn’t charge me the whole $75 for small talk. Bringing it down to $60 would have been more acceptable for what this visit was worth. That said, I will still most likely hire them again for appliance repairs in the future. =)

Waldy did a great job on my total renovation, everything from floors to wall repair, kitchen cabinets, appliances, molding, electrical, plumbing, you name it. He maintains high standards and is very understanding, always working with a customer to make changes and achieve the desired result. Couldn't give a higher recommendation, have already and will continue to refer friends and family to him.

Rohan (the owner) and his helper were super nice and very helpful. I needed to have my refridgerator serviced, but didn't even know enough about it to answer some of his basic questions, such as whether it had a filter. (It did not.) He told me (over the phone) not to worry about it; he'd take a look and tell me what it needed, which was exactly what I needed! I know enough to know what I don't know, which is nothing in this area. I need someone to show up and help me out, which is exactly what he did! Super nice, super trustworthy, and cleaned up the muck from behind the appliance as they pulled it out. Thank you, G's Service & Repairs!

Luis was a pleasure to work with. He fixed our refrigerator for a very fair price. He had to come back the following day as he did not have the part on hand, and did not increase the quote even though it turned into a two day job. He even gave me a warranty in the event any issues were to re-arise. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Joshua was fantastic to work with overall. We needed some work in our kitchen done ASAP after things fell through with our previous contractor. He was able to get started right away, gave us a reasonable price, did great work, was always on time & reachable by phone, email or text. I would recommend him to anyone and look forward to working with him in the future on any work we need done. He is a self proclaimed perfectionist and it shows in his fantastic work.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    Who fixes refrigerators?

Typically, appliance repair technicians who offer refrigeration repair also work with washers, dryers, dishwashers and other household appliances. While there is no formal training required to be an appliance repair technician, consider certification requirements, as the technician should know how to safely work with refrigerants (the chemical that keeps your fridge cold) and substitute refrigerants such as HFCs. You should also read reviews to get a sense of the pro’s experience and reputation. The appliance repair pro will come to your home, bringing all the necessary tools for diagnosis. They may need to order parts to complete the job, but all the work will take place in your home. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
