About

Sandi is an excellent teacher and a talented guitarist. I haven't taken music lessons since I was a kid, and her approach to teaching music is drastically different from what I remember. She keeps me interested, challenged, and enjoying playing more than I have in a long time.

About

WHAT DO YOU LEARN IN YOUR LESSONS? That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach. All lessons are custom tailored to each student. A seven year old having their first voice lesson will have very different needs than a fifty seven year old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child. The main reason to choose the Academy as your lesson provider, is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual. If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever aspirations you have for yourself or your child. ARE WE THE RIGHT PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY FOR YOU? New Haven Academy of Performing Arts is the only Performing Arts Academy in the state of Connecticut with teachers certified in Mix Voice Technique and has the ability to offer Voice, Instruments , Stage Performance, Dance(in collaboration with Broadway Dance) Classes. We are able to provide you with a full package to prepare you for any performance. 3 Benefits of becoming an Academy Student are: 1. The benefit of learning how to sing with the Mix Technique is the ability to master many styles of music and have a full range with no breaks. From Opera to Rock, our students are able to train their vocal chords to perform in a healthy and versatile way in order to tackle whatever style of music the would like to sing. 2. Month to Month lessons The Academy does not require semester minimums for lessons. Every student here is on a month-to-month basis. If you are ready to start, you have nothing to lose as we only want students who truly want to be here and we will NOT commit you to a long term contract. 3. A proven track record of excellence. Visit our testimonial page to see what our students are saying. Every year, aspiring music teachers start their own studio, and a year or two later it's closed. The Academy has a proven track record for offering performing arts lessons year round. **************AS SEEN ON CHANNEL 8's CT STYLE***************** Sing with the vocal technique recommended most often by the music industry's most successful producers - the technique recommended by the producers of American Idol, Glee, The X-Factor, Made, and The Voice! Whether you are a novice or a professional, We can help you reach your goals. About

My 2 children (ages 9 and 7) have been taking piano lessons from Laura for the past 8 months now and she is wonderful! My children have very different musical preferences and she is very accommodating to both. She makes the lessons fun and they always look forward to lesson days. My children are very eager to practice and learn new songs (which she provides them) and they have made leaps and bounds since Laura has become their teacher. We are very thankful to have found such a wonderful and knowledgeable teacher. I would highly recommend her!

Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.

About

I am a professional singer who loves to help other singers expand their talents. I offer a service I like to call "holistic vocal coaching." Definition of Holistic 1. Characterized by comprehension of the parts of something as intimately interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole. 2. Characterized by the treatment of the whole person, taking into account mental and social factors, rather than just the physical. The voice is the unexplainable language of the spirit, expressed through sound. To uncover the artistry and texture of the singer, one must probe into the inner spirit. My approach is holistic, meditative, and spiritual. Connectedness between the mind and body is essential. I can help singers of all levels find or fine-tune their voices. I start by having my students sing two contrasting songs of their choice a cappella. The lessons are always recorded for the student's reference, as well as mine. I address strong points and we make a plan for improvement. This plan will include breathing techniques, warming up, learning how to take care of the voice and body, and self-discovery as an artist.

About

I started lessons with Kelliann about to years ago when I decided I wanted to take vocal lessons to help progress my role as a secondary vocalist for my band. Her way of teaching is very unique (to me anyways) because she can clearly explain what I can do to improve and learn. She is also very attentive and always has input after every exercise and always provides help when I feel like there is something I'm doing that challenges me. She is the only vocal teacher that I've had but I plan on being a student for as long as I possibly can.

About

I took voice lessons with Jamie Petrone for about four and a half years (all throughout high school and for a bit of time after). I have also participated in every one of her Mastering the Audition workshops. Jamie is an exceptional teacher. Not only did my voice greatly improve during my time with her, but my confidence did as well. When I started lessons with Jamie, I would barely sing in front of anyone. By the end of my first year with Jamie I was singing in front of crowds without any problem in school musicals and Jamie's voice recitals and workshops. You can learn so much from Jamie. She has a huge amount of talent and experience to share and she has the ability to turn anyone into a performer. I've seen her inspire confidence and stage presence into so many kids. Additionally, she really cares about each one of her students and has a unique relationship with every one of them. I can't recommend Jamie highly enough, taking lessons with her truly changed my life!

Ivan Hunter started his musical career at the age of 7, singing in the Friendly Road Choir which presented weekly radio broadcasts and regular concerts. He started on the cornet and quickly progressed to be cornet soloist in the National Youth Brass Band, and later principal trumpet in the National Youth Orchestra. He was appointed to the National Band of New Zealand in 1967 under K G L Smith, and then as a solo cornet in the World Champion National Band in 1970 under Elgar Clayton. This band also played under Harry Mortimer in England. Ivan’s early teachers included W Les Francis and Lloyd Thorne.
