As an adult who never had piano lessons and doesn't play any instruments (so far) I think Broderson Music Studios provides excellent instruction. I am still early in the process, but have found Gary to be very encouraging and patient. He is able to answer questions in a way that is clear and understandable without ever feeling "dumbed down". I look forward to learning more!
I have been taking guitar lessons from Pete for about 5 years now. The 5 years that I have been getting lessons have been a really good and I have learned so much about the guitar. Firstly, when I first started I was starting from scratch and had absolutely no idea on how to play. But now im able to play with pretty good speed and keep up with the fast songs. His teaching style I believe is very good and easy to understand, helping you excell in whatever you are doing. And it' not boring at all. Each lesson I have had, I have at least laughed a couple of times. So overall he is a great teacher who I would recommend to anyone if they were looking to learn the guitar or any other instrument he teaches.
Barbara is an excellent music instructor. I have had 3 sessions so far and feel like I have learned so much from her. I can't wait to see how much more I will improve in the next 3 sessions. I'm glad I signed up for singing lessons at the Alexander Music Studio!
I have gone to pat for 7 years and he has taught me countless songs, riffs, scales, techniques, and chords and even taught me the bass guitar. He never makes you do anything you don't want so you can learn whatever you want to learn. He's a great guy and I look forward to going to his lessons every week.
Tim came recommended from a friend. I had been playing guitar and bass for close to 20 years, without ever taking a single lesson. I'd been focusing on bass for the last 10 years, and decided that I wanted to take my bass playing to the next level - theory, reading music, etc. Fast forward a year later, and I'm reading and learning music not only from sheet music, but from jazz charts - something I hadn't even imagined going in. I've gained a new appreciation for the music as a result. Everyone that knows me well has commented on the improvement in my overall bass playing, from the wife to people who I've spent years jamming with. In short, if you're looking to expand your abilities, you can't go wrong with Tim.
Tommy has been an amazing guitar, bass, and audio engineering teacher. Recently, we've been working together on some college auditions involving jazz bass, which I knew little of in terms of techniques and terminology. With Tommy's help, I've learned what would have taken me forever, and I feel a lot better about the audition process.
Over the coarse of 6 or so years Chris Schreiner has given me countless one on one bass lessons. Not only is he a personable guy, he always finds inventive ways to help a student succeed; Professionalism (on time, proper equipment, and real life experience), clear articulation (Terminology and Explanations), and positive attitude will not only encourage you but motivate you to do well. His versatility is also a plus. He has no problem catering to peoples musical needs no matter how far out it may be. All in all, great guy, great teacher!
Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.
Great guitar teacher - my 16 year old son likes him and is enjoying learning to play the guitar (two big wins!). Focuses on getting the child 'making music' right from the start so that they start having fun right away and stay thus engaged and interested. Really flexible with scheduling lessons for those of us who are 'calendar-challenged'. I'd highly recommend Joey to others.
Sherstudios is a one stop shop for either the budding musician to the gigging professional. It is owned and operated by Jamie Sherwood who is the consummate professional in both music instruction and production/recording. I have been taking lessons (guitar/bass) with Jamie since high school and I can attest that he is the real deal and gives his all to every student and client at any skill level, beginner to professional. Be it jazz, classical finger style, rock, blues, etc... Mr. Sherwood is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist that will help you to transcend into the musical plane and have you sounding like a pro in no time (as long as you put in the effort too)!!! If you're looking to embark on a musical journey there is no better place to start than Sherstudios. A comfortable, safe, and pleasant environment where your musical aspirations can begin to take flight. You couldn't ask for a better mentor, trust me!!!
Bob is an excellent teacher! I have been taking bass guitar lessons with him for the past 4 months. As an adult just beginning to learn the bass, I am very happy that Bob tailors the lessons for me and my interests. From the beginning, we played songs from musicians that I enjoy (Black Sabbath, The Kinks, The White Stripes) and not the simplistic Mary Had a Little Lamb stuff you find in most beginning guitar books. Bob also incorporates music theory into our lessons in a fun and interesting way. For example, we'll be working on a Black Sabbath riff and he'll use it to demonstrate the pentatonic scale. Bob is kind, friendly, and professional. Our lessons start on time and he uses every minute of the lesson to its max. I am always excited to go to each lesson. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone looking to learn the guitar or bass guitar!
I've been working with Andy for over a year. He's tried to work with my strengths on bass guitar and provide me with ways to overcome my weaknesses. He teaches in a way that's clear and not overwhelming and what I learn leads somewhere. I would especially recommend Andy for adults because of his patience and willingness to adapt his lessons to me, the person that he's teaching. I'm so looking forward to learning more and playing live.
Ben is quite an intuitive musician and instructor. His knowledge dives deeper than technique. With Ben you'll hone style, taste, and become a sharper musician. He has a lot to offer any level of musician; beginners to professionals alike. Plus, he is a fun and inspirational gent to work with.
Kevin is a terrific guitar teacher. He's very knowledgable (classically trained but knows a lot about different musical genres), comes to lessons prepared, and is very conscientious about teaching what I want to learn. I would definitely recommend him to anyone at the beginner / intermediate level.

I know chords, can read music, and can teach guitar and bass. You can bring your book and I can show you how to play it, or I have various books you can look at and decide what you want to learn.
I have always believed that the pursuit of any discipline in the arts stimulates the imagination, fine tunes motor skills, and is generally good for the soul. Learning a musical instrument can be a wonderfully rewarding experience, regardless of the style of music you pursue. I have been playing guitar for 41 years since I was a lad of 10, and I have been teaching for the last 31 years, offering private lessons at a very affordable price. Now, at age 51, I still genuinely love my craft and enjoy interacting with students of all ages and levels! Lessons are given in the comfort of my home studio. You will learn to read music notation, guitar notation, and tablature. I shall teach you the benefits of music theory, improvisation, and good technique. As you progress, I will help you with learning to master the songs that you want to play.
30 years experience and a passion for all musical styles. Being able to deliver exactly what a student wants (on the spot) while also provide important insights geared towards teaching one "how to fish" (long term self-sufficiency) as opposed to only "receiving a fish" (short term gratification).
I am a seasoned musician playing live for over 40 years. My first instrument is bass, but I can also teach beginner guitar, keyboards or how to write your own music on computer using M.I.D.I. (musical instrument digital interface). Do not be fooled by my years, I still play in an extremely high-end rock band, and can play all styles of bass playing. I am patient, friendly, I have a good sense of humor, and I get results. I am a good communicator and I have a method of how to look at your instrument without it intimidating you. Each student has different goals, each one wants to play different music, if you have the desire and willingness to practice, you will see steady progress.
My name is John. I'm new to Thumbtack, but I'm 22, and I've been playing electric bass for nine years. I've always loved giving lessons. When I first started playing, taking lessons really helped me to appreciate and learn about bass and music in general, and I'd like to help foster that in others who would like to start learning about music. My hours and rates are flexible depending on your situation, so just get in touch with me, and we'll take it from there!
The lessons are all custom made for the individual who is learning so you don't have a class of ten people or a pre-written lesson plan. Everyone has different interest.
