Jessica has been amazing for me. First off, she has a very pleasant personality---which is always helpful. I contacted Jessica because I have sleep apnea and read that singing lessons could be helpful in building up the throat muscles and developing better breathing. I have also wanted to take voice lessons so it was two birds with one stone for me. I have been taking weekly lessons for about a month now and am already seeing improvement in both my voice and, more importantly, in my sleep quality. Jessica has gone the extra mile for me in finding voice exercises which will assist in my apnea. She has been doing some online researches and has even ordered a book on the subject. She is fun to work with and it is obvious that this is less about money than it is about her passion for music. Her rates are extremely reasonable and she is generous with her time. I look forward to many more lessons with her and cannot recommend her highly enough. Jessica is a true professional. If you have ever thought about voice lessons you cannot go wrong giving her a call.
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
I have taken guitar lessons from Alan Donati for a number of years in order to better understand music. Being a weathered rock/blues drummer myself, I can attest that Alan is a very accomplished musician and seasoned music teacher who learned his craft via years of playing in rock, blues and jazz bands as well as attending Berklee as a solid foundation. Alan can teach a number of instruments well such as guitar, bass and piano alongside incorporating music theory with the practical applications. He is very adapt with technology as well as “old school”. I have seen Alan teach many students with great patience with tailored attention to the particular student’s interest. Some veteran musicians can only play well but not teach. However, Alan can obviously do both. And so I am giving Alan an outstanding review and rating.
I have been taking lessons at the Alliance Francaise for over 4 years now. I have greatly enjoyed the quality of the classes and the people I have met. The teachers are very enthusiastic, talented and make learning fun, especially on an adult level. Additionally, there is a weekly conversation class which is a great opportunity to put your skill set to use while discussing an interesting topic over a glass of wine. My weekly classes are a highlight- transporting me back to France for a few hours - Cest manifique!
I began taking piano lessons at 70 yrs of age and Barbara has been very patient and helpful in my learning process. I'm delighted to be able to read and play comfortably and continue to learn new things in spite of previous instrumental experience.
After taking piano lessons from a traditional piano teacher for 6 years, I needed a change. Steve was the perfect choice. He played at a local piano bar at the time, and I wanted to hone my skills so I could play in bands, too. I assumed he would teach me the ins and outs of chords and then send me off to conquer the music scene, but it turned out he had a real mastery of musical theory, and he held it to a very high importance. He began each of our lessons with music theory - all the basics that make a solid foundation for any musician. Then, he introduced a new concept to something I had been doing all along. He gave me sheet music to learn - tough teaching songs - then after a time, began blocking my view of my hands with paper while playing. Eventually, he'd block my hands and take away the music, teaching me a very important part of playing anything in front of people. You have to know the music inside and out. You can't rely on the sheets in front of you. That's the only way you can truly immerse yourself in the song and let your fingers do the playing. His fees were reasonable and the time was very well-spent. You have to do the work between lessons to get the most out of them. Steve has a true mastery of live performance on every level, and it would behoove any musician, young or old, beginner or skilled, to spend a year in his teaching. We can all benefit from it. I certainly did. I've been in various bands, ever since, and I haven't looked back except to remember who helped me get here.
I was a bit nervous starting piano lessons in my 70s but Jonathan has given me such encouragement and praise that I am eager to take on increasingly challenging pieces. He is very attentive both to my strengths and to things I need to work on. Lessons are stimulating and very rewarding. I have seen him perform in groups and solo piano - he is superb!
Tim did a great job taking me from someone who had rarely sung to someone who then became very comfortable singing along with my part time profession of playing piano and keyboard. I was happy with my progress after working with Tim and him giving me the necessary coaching I needed.
Personalized, high-quality instruction from a professional-level player and experienced teacher with a Master's in Education.
He is awesome and personable!
He provided private alto sax lessons to my daughter for 7 years. She is an exceptional musician, and he played a very significant role.
As her private student for 11 years, she has "saved my life"from the mundane by leading me into the magical and romantic world of classical music. Her impeccable training in Ukraine since the age of 6 has made her an outstanding pedagogue in music. You can feel her passion and enjoyment as she plays and teaches. I have made much progress from her tutelage and look forward to our lessons every week. Her personality is modest, confident and kind. She is beloved by her students, young and old. I met Tatyana just after she arrived in the US with minimum English skills. She took English lessons at the International House of Rhode Island where I was Executive Director, and quickly advanced to high levels of proficiency. She is extremely intelligent and creative in her teaching methods. She is a treasure, and students wishing to learn piano from her are the luckiest, including myself. I invite anyone interested in studying with her to email me with further questions or recommendations. from: Marilyn vonKriegenbergh Cranston, Rhode Island email@example.com
My 7 year old enjoys his violin lessons with her. She is very good with kids. He loves the little surprises she gives him when he does a good job.
I've only just begun working with Martin, but I think we're off to a great start. I have very little by way of formal instruction, so I have a lot to learn, and I'm glad I've decided to take lessons, even though I'm in my 30s. Martin is very knowledgeable and patient, and his piano is just so lovely.
Mr. Blackwell is an awesome teacher, and very gifted. My daughter looks forward to her weekly lessons. In a short few months of lessons you can hear the difference (control) in her voice. You will not be disappointed in the services of Blackwell's School of Music and Film.
I had an overall amazing experience learning piano from Nikita. I recommend having him to teach your kid or if you personally want to learn piano. He takes his time and doesn't rush like other teachers I've been to. I had some music background before coming to his lessons, but I wasn't confident. Now I'm excelling in various musical pieces. Thank you Nikita!
I started to love music at a very young age. I got involved in chorus and guitar, piano, acting, and singing.
I teach saxophone students of all ages and skill levels as well as beginning and intermediate clarinet students. I work closely with parents and students to customize instruction to meet your individual goals, while making the process fun and engaging. As a performer, I specialize in classical repertoire for the saxophone and transcriptions of work originally for other instruments.
