Gary has done an outstanding job providing piano lessons for my daughter. He's a great teacher. Highly recommended! -- Bri Swatek
I would highly recommend Dave Robles for guitar lessons. He taught two of my daughters, from age 6 to age 12. He is both a professional educator and musician. He builds a rapport with the kids, and keeps them interested by letting them have input into the kind of music they're learning. He is reliable and organized, and provided a tabbed binder with sections for notes, theory and music. I recommended Dave to the after school enrichment program at our elementary school because he did such a good job teaching my girls, and I would highly recommend him for all ages.
I have been taking guitar lessons from Pete for about 5 years now. The 5 years that I have been getting lessons have been a really good and I have learned so much about the guitar. Firstly, when I first started I was starting from scratch and had absolutely no idea on how to play. But now im able to play with pretty good speed and keep up with the fast songs. His teaching style I believe is very good and easy to understand, helping you excell in whatever you are doing. And it' not boring at all. Each lesson I have had, I have at least laughed a couple of times. So overall he is a great teacher who I would recommend to anyone if they were looking to learn the guitar or any other instrument he teaches.
Guitar lessons can be boring, but not with Steve. Steve's guitar playing its Eddie Van Halen's level and best of all is that he is very humble and a funny teacher. He will take his time to explain you note by note on the entire fretboard. I always have fun learning new scales, arpeggios, triads etc. with Steve. You will actually get exited every time a guitar lesson with him is coming up. A guitar instructor that actually knows how to play pretty much anything on guitar, but if you are into Rock, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Jazz and Jazz Fusion, you should definitely take guitar lessons with Steve. - Winston Beast Master (Khiazma band)
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.
Thoroughly enjoying my lessons with Tom! Sometimes, they are free-flow; sometimes, they are focused. He has a good idea of how much to give me to work on each week, and the structure of the lessons works well.
Over the coarse of 6 or so years Chris Schreiner has given me countless one on one bass lessons. Not only is he a personable guy, he always finds inventive ways to help a student succeed; Professionalism (on time, proper equipment, and real life experience), clear articulation (Terminology and Explanations), and positive attitude will not only encourage you but motivate you to do well. His versatility is also a plus. He has no problem catering to peoples musical needs no matter how far out it may be. All in all, great guy, great teacher!
I found the search for classical guitar instruction rather daunting until I discovered the website of James Lorusso (jameslorusso.com). My initial contact from several other entities and individuals proved far too commercially driven for my taste. I was interested in taking formal lessons and learning how to read music not just learning from tablature or playing by ear which I had done for over fifty years. A few hours following my e-mail inquiry I was surprised and gratified to receive a personal call from Mr. Lorusso and was in his studio the very next day. I was immediately impressed with this gentleman. His warmth and finely honed pedagogic approach were so apparent it was only a matter of minutes into that introductory lesson I became convinced I had found the quintessential teacher a true pedagogue and a man of such talent and encyclopedic musical knowledge I was drawn to him like a magnet. Seldom in life does one come across a resource as substantial and charismatic as this gentleman look no further, you have just found a genius who's also as warm as the day is long! My name is Tom I'm 67 years of age and feel like a kid when I'm in Jims studio. In three months he has given me gifts of learning and brought me to places I thought were unachievable. He will do the same for you!
Luke is an outstanding teacher! I've been wanting to play acoustic guitar for over 15 years now. I hinted this to my wife, and she bought me a guitar and some lessons with Luke. My wife is incredible at doing research. She interviewed a bunch of people. Met with some, texted some, read tons of reviews, etc. She is great that way, and doesn't settle for anything less than the best! And believe me, Luke is the best! Luke seemed to be a few bucks more than some other people, but believe me, he's worth it! You get what you pay for! And when I say a few bucks more, I only mean a few bucks more. He's still relatively inexpensive compared to some other agencies or people. There were many people that cost more than him that didn't interview well at all! (according to my wife) I have been a High School teacher for 10 years now, and can truly recognize when someone is a good teacher or not. For those who are good teachers.... some of them are just naturally good at it innately, and some have to work at it. Luke is both! Meaning, I can tell that he's naturally good at it, plus he truly works at improving himself, combine this together and you get a phenomenal teacher, such as Luke! Strengths: He has the patience of a saint. He is incredible at explaining things. If something isn't understood right away, he'll use a multifaceted approach of re-explaining it differently by truly differentiating his instruction based on how you understand it best. He knows how and when to review. He'll determine your strengths and weaknesses at any moment, celebrate your strengths, and hone in on improving your weaknesses using different approaches. Luke truly caters to your needs! Meaning, if there's something you didn't get, he'll focus more time on improving it. If there's something you understood well, he'll realize this immediately and know to move on to something new, as to not waste your time and money. He's real efficient that way! And you can tell he's real deep with his explanations. He doesn't just focus on the, "how to do something," but in my opinion, his philosophy seems to focus in on the, "why." Meaning, he gives you a micro perspective of what your doing, and at the same time a global perspective in order to understand the big picture. Weaknesses: none! Honestly, none! Now I'm very critical of people's teaching ability, so if there were any, I'd list them. I don't know the guy, meaning, I never met him prior to this, so I'm being totally honest. I have no bias in this. I honestly can't think of one thing he needs to work on as a teacher. If you're looking to learn how to play the guitar, look no further!
I took guitar lessons for three years with Lou at U Music and the quality of instruction was incredible. Lou clearly knows what he's talking about when it comes to understanding the guitar. He provides a holistic and fun approach to learning the instrument, backed up by many years of experience as a musician and teacher. I would recommend him as a teacher to anyone from the earliest beginners to the most veteran guitar players. I'm also pleased to say that every one of the instructors at U Music is friendly and easy to talk to. I took voice lessons with Ann (which were also fun and helpful), and I've had numerous chats about music and other things with both Greg the bass teacher and Nick the drum instructor. Great people, great instruction in my experience, and altogether a great place to learn about the wonderful world of music.
I have had the honor of taking guitar lessons with Larry Meyer for about 3 years. Larry introduced me to the world of JAZZ and the concept of musical freedom through improvisation. Larry has truly inspired me to be a musician, and to think beyond my original guitar mind set. If you ask him a question, you will get an answer backed by a lifetime of musical exploration and experience, not to mention the serious undeniable pure talent. It is impossible to get a lesson from Larry and not be infected by his excitement of the music and the joy of revealing that infinite world to an aspiring player. I thank you Larry for your friendship and patience as you helped direct me through each musical stepping stone.
Piano lessons, just two lessons occurred so far, but so far, so good.
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Mike for the past eight years. The valuable lessons she has learned from Mike while learning to play guitar were applicable to playing violin for her school. Learning how to practice, reading and writing music, playing a song by ear, understanding difficult rhythms, and being exposed to a variety of genres are just a few examples of the valuable lessons she learned over the years. Mike also recorded her playing her grandfather's favorite song so she could give it to him as a gift. My daughter has learned to love music and we have Mike to thank for that. I have also had the pleasure of learning how to play guitar through Mike. We both feel our time with Mike is always well spent.
I had always wanted to learn how to play guitar ever since I could remember. I was a late starter- 23- before I finally decided to really give it an honest try. Andy convinced me at the very beginning that it's never too late to start and his students were of all ages- children to adult, so I had nothing to worry about. His continuous encouragement was one of the reasons I stuck through the harder beginning lessons when I was struggling. He was extremely patient and would make sure to keep the classes entertaining and upbeat, so that even learning the basics was fun. It's easy to get the "beginner's blues" and quit early if you don't catch on right away, but he pushed me through it until I got the hang of it- and had me laughing the whole way. As I began to improve and could start to experiment more, Andy was great about changing the curriculum to meet my wants and needs. He always made sure to make me practice the basics of course, but we made sure to balance it with songs and music that I personally loved and wanted to play. I would choose the 'extra' books to bring in and often even brought in sheet music of popular songs. If the song was too complicated for my musical level, he would find a way to make it work and break it down for me to learn. Overall, Andy was the best music teacher I've ever had and I've played a variety of instruments over the years. His positive attitude and genuine love of music makes the experience that much better. I would highly recommend him for anyone in any range because he's very good at what he does. If you want to learn how to play guitar, he'll make it happen.
My daughter has been taking violin lessons with David since she was 9 years old; and more recently, she has started classical, acoustic guitar lessons the summer before entering college. He is a dedicated professional and diligent in making sure his students learn correct technique and become more musical in their own personal way. More importantly, David has the ability to keep his lessons fun and varied! Her lessons have always been highlights of my daughter's week! I recommend David without hesitation.
Dennis is a wonderful guitar instructor for my son! He is fun and encouraging, and let's my son choose the songs he would like to learn. We have had a great experience with Dennis!
George Lesiw has been my son's music teacher for the last 5 years. He amazingly talented and very patient with beginner students. He has helped my son explore a large variety of musical genres.
Rob is an excellent instructor and takes a personal interest in honing both your technical skills and your understanding and appreciation of what transforms a sequence of notes and chords into music. In addition to lessons, Rob is extremely generous with his time and goes out of his way to organize jams that allow students to learn to play in a band setting.
Brian Duggan has been teaching my son guitar for over 4 years. He is a talented guitar player and teacher. Brian is patient and passionate about music. He is able to grade his teaching to the needs of any type of student. He is consistently on time for lessons and has included my son in gigs to help him continue to develop his skills.
Ace comes to our lessons on time, and with a plan. She remembers what I've been practicing, and knows how to get me to the next level. She gives me her full attention for the whole time we're in the lesson, and when it's time to wrap it up, she leaves me with clear assignments for how to practice and what to practice - and it's always something fun, challenging and yet attainable that makes me want to come back to my instrument. Ace makes it fun to work hard at getting better.
