When I think about why Phil is successful with his clients and his client find success with him it's because he is INVESTED. Phil is invested in his clients - understanding their needs, from the ones just starting off and the ones who are athletes and need to be pushed. He is invested in his craft - keeping up with the new techniques, exercises thus giving him the ability to tailor his sessions to his clients. Invested in nutrition - vast understanding on what will fuel your body and shares this with his clients. I have been an athlete my entire life, sometimes in better shape then others - the single thing that made the difference in my success with my coaches/trainers is their ability to connect and invest in me. When you have someone that believes in you it gives you the motivation to invest in yourself. I highly recommend Phil as a personal trainer or taking part in one of his boot camps. It's a fun, motivating, non-intimidating environment where you can take yourself to the next level!

I have a couple of degrees and a decent job, but I didn’t feel like I was having the success in my career that I thought I should. I felt like I kept doing things that got in the way of doing better. I am a fairly stubborn person, so of course I thought I could solve my problems myself. The problem with that thinking is that unless you understand why you are having issues, you will continue to keep going down the same road. I had heard about life coaches and thought I would give it a try. The first couple of coaches I tried weren’t a good fit for me. I didn’t really feel comfortable working with them because they didn’t actually get to know me to understand what was going on with me. Then I met Dancer for Life. I knew right away I had met the right coach! She had a way of making me feel comfortable and helped me begin to recognize some of issues I was facing. I am a little defensive at times (well, maybe a lot defensive), but Beth was able to talk with me in a way that I could be really honest with her and myself. That was a very important beginning! From there we worked together to develop a plan that would help me with my problems in my career. I think the collaborative approach was the key, because if she had given me a “one-size-fits-all” plan, it wouldn’t have worked for me. I came to grips with the fact that I was really bad with procrastination. I also had difficulty taking constructive criticism, which was incredibly important to resolve if I was ever going to advance in my career. There were some setbacks here and there, but Beth worked with me through it all and equipped me with the tools and skills to get back on track and make big improvements in my life. Today, I am in a much better spot and am having great success in my career. I’ve even gotten two promotions! More importantly, the skills that Beth helped me developed have even assisted me in other areas of my life. I am so glad I reached out to Dancer for Life and am proud to feel like I am one of her successes. If you want to make some changes in your life, I highly encourage you to reach out to Beth, the Dancer for Life. You will be very happy you did. When you do, be ready to take a positive step in your life!

Dina was extremely helpful and knowledgable in our career coaching and mock-interview session. She had gathered proper intel and research before our session to customize the coaching to match my needs. I was very pleased with her help and felt much more confident after our session. She is very easy to talk to, is so professional, honest and forthcoming, and I highly recommend her for professional coaching. I will certainly use her services again and continue to apply our learnings to my career today. Thank you!

Katrina is a fantastic life coach! She has a very inviting and genuine personality. I felt comfortable talking to her almost immediately in our first session. Big or small, I feel like I can talk about anything that's going on in my life with Katrina. She always has time to "go into the weeds" with me and help understand what I am thinking. Not too long ago Katrina guided me through a major career change. I felt stuck where I was, and Katrina helped me to breakdown what I was going through and figure out what my true passions are. She got me to focus on what was important and we set goals that were both measurable and achievable. I am so much happier now, and I don't think I could have gotten here without Katrina's guidance. I would highly recommend Katrina as a life coach to anyone looking!

My husband and I had our first skype communication with Jen this morning. We explained that we are hoping to improve our communication skills and desire better conflict resolution skills. She was already very helpful in getting both of us to open up more and identify how differently we view various issues that arise within our marriage. I am very excited to work with Jen and love the option of in-home visits, which is ideal for our schedules. She emphasized her role as a coach rather than a therapist, which made my husband feel a lot more at ease. I am optimistic about having Jen assist us in strengthening our bond and being a happier couple over all.

Kathie was my Health Coach in the summer and fall of 2017. Early on, she asked questions about what was going great in my life and what I wanted to improve. Kathie then worked with me to set realistic goals for myself. Each week during our coaching session, she had a well thought out approach to discussing my progress and coaching me to learn the importance of positive self talk and personal encouragement. In just 90 days time, I achieved a significant amount of progress towards my goals and I loved Kathie’s coaching style! Caryn

I have known Shawntel for many years and for the past few years she's been very helpful in assisting me with making major decisions in my life. Her mission to help her clients "Step Into Your Life" is evident in the approach she uses. As a counselor/coach, she helps you to realize that it is in fact YOUR life and that you are responsible for it. While many times we may look to others for advice, guidance and/or validation, Shawntel asks the thought provoking questions that make you look into your inner self and answer these questions on your own. Her greatest quality is being a great listener. She never imposes on your thoughts or ideas or suggests you make any particular decision, but instead uses her training and techniques to help you assess the situation as a whole and make the decisions that are appropriate for you. Since she's been counseling me, I've gained greater confidence in my decision making abilities. I've begun pursuing an entrepreneurship opportunity that I've wanted to do for a while and am having great success. In addition, I've gained better control over my emotions and have been experiencing greater joy and fulfillment in my relationship than I have before. Prior to counseling with Shawntel, I used to tell my problems to several different people asking what they thought and based my decision on their responses, which did not always turn out in my favor. Now, I am more patient, I think more for myself and don't rush to take action. I do things unapologetically, stand behind my decisions and ONLY talk to Shawntel!!!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
