Yonier and his brother have helped me with multiple projects. He is usually able to come out the same day! He repaired my outdoor basketball court lighting, rewired and replaced all my outdoor lighting, about 30 fixtures around the house. He has also repaired my dryer and my A/C and was able to repair my pool pump heater! He is hard working, honest and trustworthy. I will definitely hire him in the future. Thank you!!

Job was - Installation of two appliances in my house (washer/dryer), removal of old appliances and install the removed appliances in a different house, then removal of those old appliances. Very reasonable quote, great communication prior to installation, arrived on time, explained everything during the installation, gave a lot of good tips on maintenance. In one word - OUTSTANDING! This guy is VERY professional! I REALLY RECOMMEND HIM!

The washer and dryer stopped working for my tenants. Smart Tech Appliances was the first to respond to my request for assistance on Thumbtack and they remained responsive throughout the process of having the units looked at for repair and even came to install when I decided to replace the units. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!! I will reach out to them for any future appliance needs.

My fridge wasn't cooling properly; I gave ABA a call, and Marlene answered the phone. She was very polite, patient, and helpful. She took very detailed notes of my problem and spoke to 2 technicians for me to determine whether it was worth it for me to pay to have them come down and check things out or if I should just buy a new refrigerator. She explained everything to me very carefully and even gave me advice on what brands are more reliable. In the end, they advised me to look for a new refrigerator as the cost of repair would not be worth it. ABA has definitely earned my trust. They are an honest company and will not sell you anything that you don't need.

I had a problem with my microwave and washing machine and they were here within hours of my contacting them. Both technicians were knowledgeable, pleasant to work with, and trustworthy. I couldn't recommend them more, especially after having had some bad experiences with other repair companies since moving here to Florida last summer. They were wonderful!

Timely, thorough and professional. This company fixed my broken clothes dryer at a very reasonable price and was available next-day. I paid another technician $50.00 to come out and fix my dryer and was told that it could not be fixed. The other company took my money and recommended I buy a new dryer so when I found out it COULD be fixed at a good price, I was extremely happy.

I have been using Masco for about ten years or so. They are absolutely top notch. On one of their visits they were out to repair my stovetop. Before the technician left, he looked at my new side by side and told me he wanted to check something. He checked the manufacturer's label and then informed me that there was a recall on the freezer side door. Even though I hadn't been having any trouble with it, he told me he could replace it while the recall was still in effect just to avoid having to pay for any future problems that might arise. He did this at no cost to me. And when the new door came, complete with a new ice dispenser, he told me to keep the old ice dispenser in the event I would ever need to replace it as they are fairly expensive. I have always been very impressed with this company, they're reliable, timely and fair.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
