We love E'Leep's Catering! We hired them for our 10th Anniversary Party/Vow Renewal. Cristi and Yashanti went above and beyond our expectations. They are definitely more than your average caterer! We asked for a low country boil...and Chef did an amazing job...he even made his own andouille sausage! Cristi helped set everything up...even my own personal decorations! She had a vision, and she brought it to life. She turned our event into a beautiful winter wonderland. Cristi also took charge and coordinated with our D.J and set up the cake! E'Leep's Catering helped make our event a success. We will recommend them to anyone in need of a catering company.

Yesterday, I enjoyed an appetizer tasting presented by Chef Kathy Paradise of Event Elements and all that I can say is WOW! After working in the event and fine dining industries for well over a decade, I am very accustomed to wedding/party foods being bland, easily mass produced, and a relatively factory-like catering process. You will NOT find those factors with Event Elements. In fact, you will find something so far from the norm in modern catering and you will learn to appreciate the craft of gourmet food with a beating heart. My guest and I were overwhelmed by the beautiful fall arugula salad, complete with roasted figs, pears and goat cheese. Normally bitter arugula was beautifully balanced by the light sweetness of the beautiful fruits and flavorful cheese. We also enjoyed stunning Ahi tuna crisps that beat out all of the other Asian flared Ahi tuna appetizers I have had in the area; definitely a major highlight. Lovely, fresh caprese appetizers were done to perfection, as were the array of flat breads and a lovely roast beef crostini finished beautifully capers and fresh herbs. Chef Kathy treats her clients like family, and cooks for them like they are family- not sparing even the most minute details to create perfection in taste, quality and presentation. Event Elements is perfect for any event, especially those in which you truly want to make a huge impression on guests. I will be recommending Event Elements to to my future clients and continuing to use them personally in the future, and I highly recommend that you do too.

Couldn't be happier with my choice of Creative Catering. Their food was delicious and original. Many "where'd you find that caterer?" comments from our guests. Wait staff service was very professional and Chef Bob so easy to work with. They really made our party memorable.

Southern Accents is amazing. Their customer service, professionalism, and attention to detail is incredible. They were an absolute joy to work with AND the food was awesome. We had so many comments and everyone agreed that it was the best catered food they had ever had - I agree too. Heidi, Beau and Chef Jessie went above and beyond. I highly recommend this catering company - you won't go wrong hiring them. We had the beef tenderloin, chicken piccata, roasted potatoes, veggies, salad and Strawberry Shortcake - so delicious!

Brian and the entire team at Crave Culinaire helped make my event one my family will never forget. We hired Crave to cook a private meal for our family at home, followed by a catered party on New Year's Eve. The food quality and presentation greatly exceeded our expectations, as did the professionalism of the staff. My family is difficult to please when it comes to food, and we all agreed, the meal prepared by Crave Culinare was one of the best we have had in Naples, Florida.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

How much should catering cost per person?

Catering prices can range from about $10 per guest on the low end to $150 or more per person on the high end. Catering costs represent the quality of food, presentation, variety, ingredients and service. But catering prices are more than the cost to cook the food that will be at your party; they also include the cost for the company to do business. Here is a simple breakdown of catering prices:

    • Menu: The food you serve your guests will directly affect the price per person. Organic ingredients, complex recipes, elaborate presentations, or high-ticket items like lobster or filet mignon all add to the cost.
    • Service: Buffet, family style, plated dinners — how you serve the food affects the cost per person. For example, a true plated meal can cost about twice the price of a staff-assisted buffet because of staffing costs. Hiring waiters, bartenders and cleanup crew will all be calculated into the per-person catering price.
    • Drinks: Providing beverages and alcoholic drinks for guests greatly increases your catering budget. Hosting an open bar can cost as much per person as the meal.
    • Rentals: Seating, plates, glassware, etc., will all have an effect on the cost per person for catering. For example, a plastic conference table that seats 10 costs about $6 to rent on average, while a wooden farmhouse table is about $80 to rent on average.
    • Business costs: Any catering cost will also include the cost for the company to do business such as insurance, employee wages, commercial kitchen space and more.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
