They came and did exactly what I wanted done. Cleared out my old grass / weeds. Sodded my front yard and put new mulch in the areas around my palm trees & bushes after trimming / clearing those areas too. A few other landscaping companies didn't even return my calls since the temps were in the 100+ range. But Lou's was on top of it. He met me on a Monday afternoon & the job was done that Friday before I even got home from work. No complaints.

I wish I could rate Omar and his team higher than 5 stars! He kept me up to date on the progress of the job (palm/tree trimming and mulch) and worked into the evenings to ensure that it would be complete in time. I can not recommend Omar enough. If you want someone that is reliable and does suburb work then Turf Pros is your answer.

Tyler Dyal is both personable and professional. He responds to phone calls and texts promptly, and he does what he says he's going to do when he says he's going to do it. Translation: He's an honest man. When Tyler shows up on the job site he has a smile on his face and a hand extended in greeting to shake. He and his crew work expertly and efficiently, and they clean up after themselves, leaving the job site (our property) just as they found it. Specifically, Precision Cuts Tree Specialists trimmed 3 palm trees in our yard and 5 palm trees in our neighbors yard. We are all happy with the work they did. We will hire them again ourselves and we will recommend them to yet other neighbors and friends. WS, Jax Beach

I hired Landscape Arkhitechz to plant 5 Palm Trees in my front yard and they did an excellent job. Not only did they plant my Palms, they also suggested that I dig up and rearrange some existing Saga Palms I already had in my yard. They did and the result was more than I had even imagined. To say that I am well pleased is an understatement. I am having them to come back and do a couple of other things they suggested. A very professional organization that I have already told friends and neighbors about.

I had Rambo's do a complete yard make over this past weekend. This included the yard mowed, the bushes trimmed, my palm trees pruned, and had them redesign the front yard landscape. I'll have them come back and pressure wash the driveway when the weather clears. I couldn't have asked for a more affordable price for the quality of service. If you're looking for an exceptional lawn care service in the Jacksonville area, give them a call.

Andre was excellent. The palm tree was probably overdue for a trim, but he handled everything like a true professional. It looks beautiful now and we will definitely have him back to keep it looking that way. Great job.

Quick and great work (even on a rainy day). We only had two of the "Tree" wise men, but they were plenty for the job at hand. The job was to trim 8 palms and 4 trees along with various side work. They came in the morning and spent about 6 hours on the job. They cleared the debris and waited for my inspection. Great job.

He was fast at responding to my post with a quote. Came out same day and took a look at the property and stood by his original quote. I live in Fernandina Beach so it's not easy finding a company to come out to this area same day and he did! Stated he doesn't do the area until Thursday but made a special trip back the next day to do my lawn. Was very professional and I like that he took time out of his schedule to make sure my needs were met! Went above and beyond what I asked for. He took off some of dead foliage on a palm and tree. Put down a green boost at no charge. Knows what he is talking about and understands my yards needs. We will have my yard up to par I'm sure! I would gladly recommend this company to my neighbors. Thanks again and will see you next time Anthony! I'm a happy customer.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

    • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
    • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
