Washing machine repair. Verdie called me within 10 minutes after I called. He was there the next day and time that he said. Very reasonable prices. I will definitely call Verdie for any repair needs I may have in the future.

Right on time and definitely right on target. A team of 3 completed the job on time in 2 hrs. Completed all work, plus "little" things that got noticed - including the surprise to us to clean the outside of the windows. Took all the trash with them, and even put away washed dishes. Fresh, clean smell to complement the very clean result. This was a "move in" cleaning for a 3BR 2BA 1450 sq ft single family home in Dunedin, FL. Very competitive rate, and offered a great rate for follow up cleanings once we have completed our move. Recommend you consider this vendor.

I had a clogged kitchen sink. I have had this issue, ongoing for several years. One person guaranteed that it was going to be fixed. He was one before Paul. Needless to say, they did not. Before that three others. One said it was because my septic tank needed to be cleaned. Did that. Then they said $350 to "blow" out my pipes. $350 an hour! NO!!!! Called in another plumber. He snaked it . 10 minutes later, he says he can't do it and to call someone with electric tools. SMH So in desperation, I finally after days of trying to baby it, and nothing working, I finally decided to try yet again to find, hopefully, what in my mind was a fair, reasonable and honest plumber, I happened onto Thumbtack. Thank you. I filled out the request, and not really expecting much to be honest. Within an hour I received a bid. A very very reasonable price from only one and it was Paul. He offered to come the next morning, which happened to be Labor Day. I did not answer for two days, and after receiving a reminder, I finally agreed, I am so happy that I did. Paul is exactly whaI had a clogged kitchen sink. I have had this issue, ongoing for several years. One person guaranteed that it was going to be fixed. He was one before Paul. He offered to come the next morning, which happened to be Labor Day. I did not answer for two days, and after receiving a reminder, I finally agreed, I am so happy that I did. Paul is exactly who I had hoped for...pleasant, professional, fair, reasonable and honest. He came in and started right away with the electric snake. He said he could feel it. He worked with it a while. Then he used the industrial water ram (I had to look it up...lol). All this time he is visually monitoring the flow of water. Waiting for it to whirlpool down the drain. Then, finally, he brought out the handy dandy old-fashioned plumbers' tool...yep, a plunger. He then worked with his body weight to plunge through the rest of the clog he'd broken with his other tools. Finally, THE WHIRLPOOL!! He ran the water several minutes. It has been great to wash dishes all at once. Not having to wash in intervals, waiting for the water to drain. If that wasn't enough, he offered to clean up the mess AND TO put everything back under the sink. I appreciated the offer, but told him that I would do it...happily. I will definitely recommend him to my family and friends. I RECOMMEND HIM TO ANY AND ALL THAT READ THIS REVIEW. THANK YOU PAUL!! THANK YOU THUMBTACK!

I posted a request for repair of my under counter Scotsman icemaker and contacted Ralph to set up an appointment. Gavin arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem. A few days later, the ordered part arrived and was installed. Although it was now making ice, it was making very, very little-like only 10 cubes a day. Gavin and John came to my home again and figured out the additional problem of a faulty filter (not part of the icemaker). I now have ice and lots of it! Yup, it was expensive, but no where near as expensive as buying a new icemaker. What a bunch of respectful gentlemen Ralph, Gavin, John, and their helpers are! Personable, yet very professional and very COMPETENT, my favorite traits. I highly recommend Ralph's Appliance Repair for what else? Appliance repair. They're very good at it. From a very happy customer in south Tampa.

First I want to say what an awesome personality Larry has! He came over right away when we called for estimate on a bunch of work we needed and wanted done. Within one day, he had all the work in detail including price and labor professionally printed to go over with my husband and I. We started with a small budget and worked on what was most important first. All of our windows needed replaced due to energy costs. Because our house was built so poorly, most of the work done was custom fit. Larry is a perfectionist and hardworking! He gutted our whole bathroom, plastered the walls and put drywall. He installed new bathroom fixtures and tub frame. Insulated walls. He offers amazing quality job for a low price. He enclosed a whole vertical window and got matching wood siding to make it look perfect and also fixed our awning that was rotting outside. Did electrical work for us. Was always on time and was here when he said he'd be. Very dedicated and can tell he loves what he does! Work shows! Have already referred him to many friends and family that are excited to hire him! Always has great ideas to improve the job and is very honest and very reasonable!! :-) very pleased!

I had a few miscellaneous projects that I needed help with around my rental house that I just didn't have time to complete on my own. Nelson responded to my request on Thumbtack and came out the next day so we could walked through the items I needed completed… installing a backsplash in my kitchen, repairing some broken tiles in a shower, installing a sink in the bathroom, and installing a few plumbing fixtures. He provided me with a very fair quote on the spot. He completed everything to my extremely picky standards AND within the time frame he set out. Needless to say, I will definitely be hiring him again for my next project!

I needed work done at my home in Lakeland. Since I have used John before I new that I would not be disappointed. He totally cleaned out my messy garage (and organized it ), washed windows inside and out. Everything was done to perfection and value. Since he has a wonderful work ethic I will continue to use his talents to help me out in the future. He is respectful, and responds in a timely fashion. This is a rare trait these days. I feel very lucky for his assistance and suggestions to ease my burden at home (I am extremely busy) in most all circumstances. Glory O'Malley

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
