So far I have had two lessons, and they have both been fun and educational! I had taken lessons years ago, and it was the most boring thing ever. After my first lesson, Wolfgang had already taught me a simple song, and a bunch of the open chords. I am definitely happy in my choice to use Wolfgang to teach me guitar!
Jake is a great teacher! He is a talented musician and is able to connect with even very young children and engage them in the learning of an instrument. He was my son's guitar teacher starting at age 8. My son is now 15 and stills refers to Jake as "my best teacher"!!
I have really enjoyed my guitar lessons with Matt. I love that Matt allows students to start learning by focusing on their areas of interest. Matt is always flexible with my very busy schedule. Thanks for great lessons, Matt!
Lessons in Your Home was quick to tailor guitar lessons for my daughter. The instructor has been personable and has built wonderful rapport with her. She is gaining strong foundational skills each week. I highly recommend them!
I have known Chris for over Thirty years, and have benefited greatly from his knowledge of and passion for music. He has been a mentor on my chosen instrument (which is the bass guitar), and taught me many concepts that opened doors of perception as I pursued my personal quest to master my instrument. He has recorded, mixed, and mastered many of my personal song projects with great results. His knowledge of studio equipment and techniques is impressive. He is a master of his instrument (the guitar) and all the associated gear, hardware, effects, amps, etc. My personal home studio would have been impossible for me to get up and running without his advice and direction. On a personal note I consider him one of my lifelong friends. He is both humble, and humorous. You canât go wrong choosing his services and wisdom in any area involving music performance, theory, and production. Sincerely, Robert Rice
Gabriel is a great instructor. I have only been taking lessons for about a month and I'm amazed at how I've progressed. He makes it all very easy to grasp. I definitely recommend.
Marco is an inspiration and great music teacher. My sons ages 12 and 13 take piano and guitar lessons from him. His faith shines brightly as he encourages and motives my sons to share their gift of music. They began lessons in February 2013 and continue to take lessons. They love playing music for others and creating their own songs with the basic chords and ear for music that Marco has taught them.
Two years of guitar lessons now for our son. He really enjoys it and has gone from a complete beginner to playing along with his favorite songs (and quite well) on his ipod or the radio.
I had the opportunity to play with Alfredo professionally for over twenty years. He is an excellent musician and guitarist. His knowledge of musical forms and the technical aspects of the guitar makes him a valuable resource. I recommend Alfredo without reservation as guitar teacher for beginners who want to learn the basics and for those professional and advanced students more interested in learning advanced and sophisticated aspects of the guitar including complex styles as bossa nova, samba, tango and other Latin American rhythms on which Alfredo is a true scholar . It will be a privilege for any student to have Alfredo as a teacher and guide in learning the guitar.
There are just so many good things I can say about the Downtown Guitar School. My three years of lessons with Roger were truly a delight. A hectic and demanding work schedule forced me to put the lessons aside for a while, but I hope to return one day soon. For starters, Roger is a wonderful musician, singer and songwriter, with a superb understanding of music theory. For me, among the many things that make him special is his ability to translate those skills and that knowledge into a language that the student can understand and benefit from. His enthusiasm, calm demeanor and wonderful sense of humor help to make the lessons a delight. I had the great fortune to be one of the Downtown Guitar School’s first students. I started my lessons much later in life than many – I was in my late 50s – and I had a bit of experience with the guitar. That really means that I knew three or four of the basic chords. Roger did an excellent job of evaluating just what I did know about the guitar and music, and he was able to create a lesson plan that would work best for me. And one of the wonderful things about the lesson plan was that it was flexible. In our lessons, in learning new songs, as I would bring in questions, or examples of guitar playing that struck my fancy, Roger was willing to divert a bit from our planned course to answer the questions and to explore and explain various riffs or chord progressions that caught my ear. Roger’s patience was remarkable, and I did more than my share of testing it. He is willing to move along as fast as you like – as long as progress is being made – or to take all the time necessary. Some of the great memories that will always stay with me were the public performances – recitals – that we did. I had little interest in, in fact had a great deal of fear about, performing in front of a room filled with people. The performances were an absolute delight. Roger worked hard to make sure we were all prepared for the performances and he was right there on stage with us, putting us completely at ease. By the end of the first performance I absolutely understood the lure of the stage for a performer. My time with the Downtown Guitar School has truly been a life changer. I find some time, even if it is just a few minutes, to play the guitar every day now. It is one my great joys in life. At times I wish I had run across something like the Downtown Guitar School 40 years ago, but I am so grateful it was there when I truly was ready to embrace the guitar.

New To Thumbtack
I am not a professional teacher by any means, but I have played guitar for over six years and would have no issues teaching beginner lessons. I can play any style you or your child would like to learn at a low rate. This is more for fun than for money.
