I am very passionate about playing and teaching the drums. I enjoy helping those who want to learn how to play to reach their goals. I am patient and am able to use different approaches to help my students understand what I am teaching them. My enthusiasm for music is contagious and the teaching program I use is fun and exciting. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my love of playing the drums with others. It is very rewarding to see the excitement of someone who really wants to learn a new skill and see them accomplish that goal. That is why I teach.

Trained: Accredited Instructor with over 20 years of experience in teaching all ages, and trained in opera, Broadway, pop, and choral, Skilled: I use multiple methods to teach, depending on the needs of the student. Effective: I won't waste your time with one-size-fits-all vocal exercises. My experience as a singer, songwriter, actor, and director enables me to tailor a program specifically for your fastest progress. Reliable: I teach proper vocal techniques for a lifetime of healthy singing. I specialize in teaching the art of singing to actors, coaching to address a particular need, and helping new singers of any age to find their singing voice. Experienced: I have taught over 800 students and directed such notable musicals as The Sound of Music, Les Miserables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Little Shop of Horrors. I love when people say, "I had no idea you could get me to sing this well this fast! I can feel the difference when I sing and I know I'm doing it correctly." Building solid vocal technique takes time, but I enjoy the process because of the consistent improvement I see in the students. With my varied background, I know that what I have to offer is unique. It pleases me to be able to change people in a positive way and help them fulfill their dreams.

  • Private Violin & Viola Studio

I am Dana, an East European trained violinist. I am a member of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Disney World, FL and 'Tango Rendezvous International' who offers violin and viola lessons for beginner and intermediate levels. I prefer having students come to my home in Apopka, FL, but I can also accommodate any other requests by driving to the students' home for an additional fee, which is about half of what I am charging for my lesson. Music is my long-term passion and I feel that sharing my knowledge is an important part of making a difference in the world.

    (8 reviews)

I am a music teacher with 15 years of experience teaching beginner to intermediate level violin, piano, and voice lessons to students of all ages. Lessons are once a week at my in-home music studio in Winter Garden. I have half hour and full hour lesson times available. I charge $25 per half-hour lesson. I enjoy teaching people of all musical backgrounds, whether it is the young grade school student just beginning their musical journey, middle and high school students who want to become stronger musicians for their own enjoyment or to audition for school musicals and other performances, or the adult who is learning for the first time or is picking it up again after many years away from it. I simply enjoy sharing the gift of music and helping others to discover it and express themselves through their music. As Hans Christian Andersen said, "Where words fail, music speaks."

  • Love Notes Piano Lessons - Dr. Love

    (6 reviews)

If you want to play the piano and even possibly make it your career, you have come to the right teacher! Several of my former students are currently playing and singing as a career. I have taught piano for over 30 years, and the exciting part about my teaching is that I offer both note and rote lessons. Reading music on the staff (sight reading) is familiar to a lot of people, but the ability to learn by rote (by ear) is exciting as well. I use music theory to teach how to build chords and use different voicings, as well as how to improvise within a given piece. Please listen to the video of Bridge Over Troubled Water and you will get an idea of how that method of teaching works. I have taught church choirs for 35 years, so I have a strong vocal background there. I've worked with small group acts and soloists as well. I love to teach harmonies and train the ear to be spot on with the pitch. I absolutely believe that you will not be disappointed, and will enjoy the learning process. I have a great sense of humor and contend that one must have fun while learning to get the best results!

Thumbtack Spotlight

Sandra Lacey Voice Studio

(23 reviews)

What do you love about your job?

I love the independence, the ability to schedule my own hours, and the flexibility for my clients. Because of Thumbtack, I meet people from all walks of life who I might otherwise never meet. I teach singing, which is a very personal service. I believe that I make a difference in my students' attitude towards self-discipline and confidence, not only in singing but in other areas of life as well. They are such an encouragement to me! My overhead is life, because I need no other advertising. Thumbtack does it all! With Thumbtack's help, I can concentrate on my students and their needs.

What or who inspired you to start your own business?

For years, I had been teaching in schools and theaters. Having the pressure of administrators and department heads who had their own agendas can be quite stressful. As an actor or director of several musical plays, I was often called upon to give private singing lessons to a number of actors who were struggling with auditions or current musical performances. Having been trained in opera and also immersed in theater, I found myself able to help in ways other teachers were not prepared to do.

Thumbtack gave me the tools and the courage to strike out on my own. I'm so glad I did! My business grew exponentially the first year and continued to capacity. I am now able to be more selective; choosing leads that are closer to my studio and in the best age range for excellent, long-term results. This is all because of Thumbtack!

Just had my first drum lesson with John, what a great instructor! He is full of humor and patience, everything you would want when learning a new instrument. We covered a lot, got a book to use during my practices, and has a wealth of information. Very excited to start learning the drums.
