Karen is excellent, energetic, and extremely knowledgeable. She works hard with her student but makes it fun and inspiring! Learned more in the first four lessons with her than months of other instruction. Highly recommend!

I have been trying to learn piano for 4 years now and have had 5 different teachers. I learned a little from each but still could not play a song. Until two weeks ago when Joseph was able to teach me a song in just two lessons! The learning environment is a great positive easy going place and Joseph presents the material in a way that makes sense. Don't go to anyone else Joseph has a lot of talent and is more than willing to share it with his students. He is by far the best teacher I have had!!

Kevin is a wonderful and knowledgeable teacher who is able to teach anyone from beginner to advanced. I needed Kevin's assistance to prepare for a college audition and I stayed on as his student because he is one of the few teachers out there that truly cares about helping me grow to be a better musician. I would highly recommend anyone to take lessons with Kevin!

Debbie has a very simple approach to teaching. My daughter who is 10 and has not formal piano training was able to come home after her very first lesson and play parts of 4 different songs. As you might imagine this has kept her very motivated, and the rest of the family entertained. My son who is 16 has now asked for lessons as well. Super exciting for a kid who was not interested in music at this time. I would highly recommend Debbie to anyone looking for a piano instructor.

Mr. Rodriguez has been teaching my son for six years. His piano playing has made a remarkable improvement since then. The fact that Mr. Rodriguez is willing to make house calls is very convenient, and allows pupils to take the class in his own piano. If such a piano happens to be electronic (as it is in our case), having the class at home allows the selection of alternate instruments and metronome selections, as well, as supplementing lessons with built-in songs. I highly recommend Mr. Rodriguez's Keyboard for Kids for anyone looking for excellent, yet convenient piano education for his children.

I have had Chris as a guitar instructor for about 6 months now. I wasn't sure what to expect when I hired Chris through Thumbtack but it has worked out really well. He knows just about everything there is to know about guitars. He will write out lessons for you, tailored to what your interests are and current skill level as a guitarist are. He is able to see where you are making mistakes and give advice on what to do to avoid repeating them. He has also done several amazing guitar setups for myself and my dad now which have been worth their weight in gold. In addition to being a guitar instructor, I have found that Chris knows a great deal about music production, mixing and mastering. He has been able to offer good advice recently as I setup my home studio and move toward posting some of my arrangements on YouTube. I highly recommend Chris for all serious guitar students out there. Get practicing!

I'm an adult student and began piano lessons two years ago. I felt I wasn't progressing so I went looking for another teacher. I've been with Priscilla for three months and can't believe how much she has taught me. Priscilla's patient and positive personality has helped me become more confident and her technique of teaching not only the piano but music theory has helped me immensely. At any age or even skill level, Priscilla is definitely a wonderful choice for a piano teacher.

The best school in the Orlando area. I was having a very hard time finding a music teacher to come and give lessons to my children for both piano and guitar. I live way out in Windermere and no one would come out this way. Elite Music Instruction had one teacher that teachers both guitar and piano, so it made this whole thing even easier. I recommend Elite Music Instruction to all my fiends and to you too.

Kristen is THE BEST. She has made me feel confident and comfortable every step of the way. She has a unique way of explaining concepts and ideas that makes learning very easy. She makes each practice practical. You can tell she really knows her craft and also that she cares, and wants you to learn and understand. I've had lessons from others in the past, and never learned anything. But with only three lessons so far, I've learned more with Kristen than 3 years in music lessons. I think that she has a true calling and passion in teaching. She listens and personalized her lessons to your specific goals. I am truly finding my own unique voice with each lesson. I'm excited each time we meet and I get better each time! I highly recommend anyone, of any age to work with Kristen.

Wendy taught my daughter for 6 years, as well as my son. She is cheerful, patient, very personable, creative in her approach with children, and always provided them loads of positive feedback. Now, I am taking lessons myself, and have a new creative outlet. I was concerned that as an adult I would not be very "teachable" and that my fingers would not find and reach the notes, but Wendy allayed my fears, finds pieces that suit me and engage me, and keeps our sessions very collaborative, all while challenging me. Wendy is an excellent instructor, and I would highly recommend her, no matter your age.

Addison is a fantastic teacher who quickly established rapport with our son. He made lessons fun and engaging, and motivated Ben to work harder through the use of creative activities. He also inspired a love of music making through the opportunity for teacher and student to co-create an original composition that was performed at the recital. We loved working with Mr. Addison!

Brian was a fantastic piano and guitar instructor for my daughter. He truly makes learning fun for a teenager. He was always on time, patient during lessons, and his amazing talent was inspirational. Plus he has a great personality and gets along well with parents. His fees are very fair, too. (My daughter stopped lessons because she went off to college.).....Additionally, Brian is a wonderful entertainer for parties. He recently played at my mother's 85th birthday bash. EVERYONE loved his beautiful classical guitar music.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is CPR training?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (better known as CPR) is a lifesaving manual technique that pumps oxygenated blood back into the body’s organs if someone’s heart or breathing has stopped. A variety of CPR training is available to community members, employees and healthcare providers. CPR training may last two to five hours or more, depending on the content and the target audience. During the training, students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation. There are different CPR techniques for adults and children, but with both you will learn how to determine whether the person is conscious before administering chest compression. During the training you’ll learn chest compression techniques for adults and different techniques for children between the ages of 1 and 8. Students learn how to properly administer chest compressions, when the technique is appropriate and when it is not, and how long you must perform rescue measures. Students also learn what an automatic external defibrillator (AED) is and how to use it if necessary to shock a patient before administering CPR chest compressions.

How do I become CPR and first aid certified?

You can earn CPR training and receive first aid certification in a number of ways. Choose an online course to learn the materials remotely and then find a testing location to complete the certification process with an in-person demonstration of your knowledge and skills. Encourage your workplace to host a first aid and CPR training so employees can learn what to do in case of a workplace emergency and how to respond with lifesaving techniques. You may also be able to take a CPR or first aid class in your community. A basic CPR training may run four to five hours. After receiving CPR training, you’ll know how to respond if an adult or a child goes into cardiac arrest or stops breathing. You’ll learn how to use chest compressions to keep blood pumping to a person’s organs, which can keep them alive until an emergency responder can arrive. First aid and CPR training can also include education about how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

What is first aid training?

With first aid training, you may be able to help save a life. First aid training can teach people who are not medical professionals how to help a sick or injured person in crisis before an ambulance arrives on the scene. Most commonly, first aid training helps teach you how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

First aid training can teach you how to respond in a variety of emergency situations, including:

  • Asthma attack
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Heart attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head or back injury
  • Stroke
  • Seizure

First aid training classes may be offered by professionals who are affiliated with the Red Cross, which offers online, in-person, and blended training classes. First aid classes are also often offered through local recreation centers, city services, schools, hospitals and private companies.

What do you learn in a first aid course?

First aid training gives you a variety of lifesaving skills for responding to many different emergency situations. In a first aid course you’ll learn about how to examine someone who’s been hurt, how to use a defibrillator, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and how to control bleeding and trauma. Some courses include pediatric first aid as well as adult first aid; helping a choking infant, for example, is different from helping a choking adult. Although you can take CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) courses separately, most first aid training includes both.

In a first aid course you’ll also learn how to respond to:

  • Wounds, including punctures, cuts and hemorrhages
  • Heart attacks, chest pain and respiratory arrest
  • Bone fractures, sprains and torn muscles
  • First-, second- and third-degree burns
  • Poisoning
  • Choking
  • Bites and stings
  • Hypothermia or frostbite
  • Shock and seizures
