Here's the thank you note, which explains more of the details of why.. Dj Yves, We wanted to express our gratitude to you. You did an absolutely amazing job at our wedding. From the initial planning of our wedding to the very end, you were fabulous! You sure pulled it off, considering we had a slightly older crowd for you to work with. The guest raved about you and the music, everyone had so much fun. For us Newbie's, we really like your helpful ideas and suggestions on music. All your wording was professional in announcing, the opening of the reception, bride and groom entrance and the activities..all of it, throughout the whole night was magnificent. What we loved the most was the interaction with our guest, your timing of the music, keeping the flow going..everything was perfect!! Besides being the best at what you do, you are truly a very delightful person with a great sense of humor. Heather mention that she will definitely be using you in the future at her wedding. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts♥ Tolleson Wedding

Charlie and Wendy photographed our wedding in Cortlandt Manor, NY in 2011. From the first contact via phone, they were incredible. They were literally willing to do whatever it took to make sure we were happy with our pictures on our big day. The quality of pictures that they put out is second to none. I have referred many friends, family and co-workers since 2011 due to their utmost professionalism and personal touch. Their work speaks for itself!! Thank you again guys!!! --Dawn and Ellis

Couldn't have asked for a better ceremony/ cocktail hour musician for our wedding in Winter Park, FL. Neal was extremely accommodating and flexible with our music selection and the time frame we had to work with. Not to mention it was somewhat short notice, which was extremely appreciated as well. I would recommend Neal for your next event if you're looking for a talented and professional musician!

This was the second event that I have booked Orlando Wedding and Events DJ. Juno and Mimi were outstanding and made both occasions very memorable. The lighting and set up was top notch and the interaction they had with our guests really got our parties going. They handled the set up and take down effortlessly and were on time and reliable. I will be using them for all our future events. Thank you so much Juno and Mimi for two wonderful and fun evenings.

My husband, Bruce, and I researched DJ's for several months prior to our 1.7.17 wedding. When we met with Edwin, we knew our search was over! Edwin made us feel at ease instantly and sat down with us for as long as it took to go over our song options until we were completely confident in our choices. Edwin even added several songs to his repertoire to accommodate our requests. During our reception, many of our guests commented on what a wonderful DJ we had and made remarks about how down to earth and friendly he was to everyone. Between the lighting effects and phenomenal music, Edwin had everyone up on the dance floor! By the end of our reception, it felt like Edwin was a part of our family. Edwin was definitely the right choice for us and if you are looking for an exceptional, beyond amazing DJ, Edwin is right for you too!

Eric was a pure joy to have play our ceremony and cocktail hour! His playing is just beautiful. I could hear it all the way from my bridal suite while I was waiting for the ceremony to start and I was already in tears because of how beautiful the music was! And all of our guests were so pleased with his selection of music played during cocktail hour! We just couldn’t be happier and certainly recommend him to anyone wanting live music at their wedding!

Great Experience! Brian contributed excellent entertainment for our 50th wedding anniversary. He arrived early to make sure he was set up and ready when the party kicked off. Since we had a small family gathering, Brian made an effort to personally introduce himself to each guest. I was impressed by his cordiallity. He was happy to interact with us, answering any questions we had. He made this a great interactive experience for us. Our guests were thrilled by his technical expertise and his selection of music. It was a great night, especially for my wife who is experiencing serious medical issues. Thanks, Brian, for helping to make this a memorable anniversary. Bill Memmoli

Dana is an incredible colleague, performer, musician, human being, and pedagogue. I have seen students improve exponentially under her guidance. They improved technically, and also musically, becoming strong, informed performers. Dana is always thinking outside the box, constantly adding new ideas and concepts into her teaching. She stays up-to-date with all the modern pedagogical writings, and never stops searching for excellence. Her pedagogical approach is a great blend of her strong Eastern European conservatory training with the contemporary American strings school. I strongly recommend her to everyone who is looking for a versatile, empathic, and dedicated pedagogue.

Chris, Kirby, Mike & Marc I can’t say enough about these 4! They arrived super early, w/the rain they were super flexible. Their music list was the best ever. We had a band that usually plays at our party but w/one being sick we needed a new band. I was a little nervous finding someone w/out listening to them perform first. From the moment that Chris the Drummer contacted me I was at ease. He kept in contact w/me, understood my request, etc. Throughout the night we had so many of our guests coming up and asking where we found the band and how amazing they were. I can’t thank them enough for the great performance. People are still asking one week later where we found them. I can’t wait to have another party just so I can book them. You wouldBe crazy not to book them for your next event.

Everyone in our Civic Club of approx. 40 people had an excellent time being entertained by Jim. Considering that he traveled from Leesburg to Winter Park, his arrival time was perfect and work very well into our programmed event of dinner, entertainment, and bingo. Best Entertainment for the Buck. Can't beat it !

Absolutely amazing! I had so much going on planning my wedding and I never once had to worry about Frank, which was such a sense of relief. He was such a professional, so easy to work with and they performed beautifully throughout our entire catholic ceremony. They gave everyone in that church goosebumps and I received so many compliments afterwards. They were exceptional!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

  • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
  • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
  • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.

Need an MC or a Host

Orlando, FL

  • Event type
    Corporate / Office
  • Age of guests
    31-50
  • Details
Experienced Producer and/or Host Wanted We need an experienced independent TV producer to work with a local crew to produce multiple HGTV style, roughly two-minute segments on an ongoing basis for a weekly building industry TV show. A resume that includes TV and/or large corporate clients is a must. If you have on-camera/hosting experience, we also want to hear from you. To clarify, we want to hear from both producers and on-camera talent. If you can do both that’s even better, but we will consider resumes for each independently as well. As a producer/director, we require the following experience: • Working with large clients on TV and/or video productions from concept to completion. • Writing narration scripts from bullet points • Working successfully as a producer/director with up to a six-person crew. • Working closely with client doing the necessary handholding, etc., to ensure they are completely happy with the process and the shoot. • Remaining calm or at least good natured, in stressful situations. • Directing talent as needed to meet the objectives of the project. • Working closely with Talent and client to rewrite bullets/copy as needed on the spot to meet the objectives of the production. • Successfully handing off production notes and footage to an editor to finish. (You will work on preproduction and the shoot. Our editors will handle the rest.) As on-camera talent, we require the following experience: • On-Camera hosting of TV or corporate productions. (We will also accept on-camera “acting†experience rather than “hosting,†if you are willing to create a short sample of hosting, we’d send you some bullets to work with.) • Working from bullet points using your own words, rather than memorizing a script. • Working with the producer/director and the client to change bullets as needed to meet the objectives of the spot. • Delivering real, natural, conversational presentations in your own words. (We often have trouble with newscasters that can’t bring down the “professional wall.†We want real, believable, likable people. No formality, and no acting please! Just be you!) • Handling management of your own wardrobe, make-up and hair as needed. • Remaining calm or at least good natured, in stressful situations. • Construction, Real Estate or building industry experience a plus! What we need from you: • Producer: Resume and any links to your work that we can view online. Plus a brief description of how you meet the criteria outlined above and why you want this gig! • Host: Resume, headshot and any links to on-camera work we can view online. Plus a brief description of how you meet the criteria outlined above and why you want this gig! (If you’d like to create a host audition tape, send the items listed and request a list of bullets to use for your audition.) This is a part-time, contractor position with pay commensurate to experience.
