Christine is a former colleague of mine. We taught primary school together for two years, and during that time I was able to get to know her as a teacher and friend. Honestly, she is one of the best teachers I have ever worked with. She always puts the needs and interests of the student above her own and is dedicated to see each student reach their full potential. She expects a lot from her students because she knows they will succeed with diligence and hard work. She takes time to prepare specialized lessons for each individual learner and always seems to know how to build upon that person's particular strengths and weaknesses. I highly recommend her as a tutor and teacher.

Kasen is an excellent tutor. She has worked with my daughter for the past three years in all subjects. My daughter has some unique challenges with school. Kasen keeps her engaged in the lesson while holding her to a high standard in her work. She has a wonderful rapport with my daughter and is a great role model for my 15 year old. She is a joy to work with. Lisa W.

We offer Spanish lessons for the workplace and travel. Learn the Spanish you need to know by speaking it the same way that you learned to speak English via webcam classes. We offer low cost. All classes are customized and are available for over 45 occupational groups, general workplace, community, mission teams, and travelers taught by nationally certified teachers. In 10-12 hours, you will be able to communicate in Spanish! Small group classes are available locally as well as on-site classes and workshops that can be held at your location. You will learn not only to pronounce and speak basic words and phrases, but how to ask questions in Spanish so that you understand the answers and be sure that you are understood as well.

I enthusiastically dedicate my knowledge of the Spanish language to students of all ages who are interested in learning Spanish and enjoying the process.

I am from Puerto Rico. I have a bachelor's degree in social work and a master's degree in bilingual education. I love my native language, and I feel very happy when people said that they want or wish to learn Spanish.

I love sharing what I know and helping others. I help students build their knowledge and guide them through their language acquisition process. I enjoy this.

We offer Baby Signing Time classes. Infants, toddlers, parents and caregivers will have fun playing and learning, while using American Sign Language (ASL), books, nursery rhymes, and music. Each weekly lesson covers new vocabulary and signing tips to avoid the communication frustration that infants and toddlers exhibit before they can verbally communicate. Each level runs for 8 weeks. Workshops are also available for parents, teachers and preschool environments.

I am certified in ESE, reading, core academics, speech language, and ESOL. I am offering one-on-one instruction and learning strategies at $40.00/hour.

I am a compassionate and committed professional with a B.A. in English from Villanova University. I use an "integrated" approach to teach English/Language Arts. This allows the student to progress more quickly and gives greater depth of understanding. I can help you master the test taking skills and verbal skills for the Catholic High School Entrance Examinations. If desired, I also suggest nutritional concepts which support learning. My tutoring is done through an online desktop sharing site. Multi-session discounts are available. Free half-hour session to get acquainted and to discuss your goals.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
