Mardey was a true professional in every facet. He fixed my refrigerator at a fair price, was very informative throughout the process, and even installed my refrigerator toekick (which wasn't part of the job). I had a bad experience with 2 other companies prior to hiring Mardey, so it was a relief to get someone that did a great job. He followed up same day to make sure the refrigerator was working. I hope I never need him again, but if I have an appliance repair issue again, I will not bother with getting bids and just call Mardey!

Just spoke to Tony and he said buy a new one and save the money and time it would take to repair the old one. And he didnt try to sell me one. He told me to go to Lowes. In other words, this is a guy who is COMPLETELY honest, fair and good. There are few people like Tony left. THANK YOU TONY. I will be calling you again for all my appliance repair needs.

I am a property manager. I could not get thru to my appliance repair company on the New Years weekend and our coin operated washer broke. I was getting calls from tenants, so I went on Thumbtack and Ohad responded and came right out. He repaired the washing machine below the cost of my previous repair company, was on time courteous and gave me a number of tips to keep it running longer. Needless to say he is now my go to repair company. He even cleaned up after the job. I was impressed. I would definetly recommend his company and I've gone thru many appliance repair services for our buildings.

Ultimate Appliance repaired my dishwasher in a very professional manner. When the first repair did not work they returned the following day with a different part. They installed the new part without any extra charge. This impressed me. Will use them again if any other appliance breaks.

Phil was extremely professional and very knowledgable. We opted out of the repair due to the cost vs. just purchasing a newer unit. However, I will use their services again if ever needed in the future.

I have not used Thumbtack before and the whole experience was great! Came home from vacation to find our Kitchenaid built-in refrigerator was not cooling. It’s 18 yrs old so knew we could potentially have bad news=meaning time to buy a new refrigerator for $8-10k. David quickly responded to my request on a Sat morning and then my call. Gave him the refrigerator model number and he stopped at the parts store before he arrived so that he would have all that he might need to repair the refrig. Thankfully what he thought the problem was right and within 20 mins he had the new part installed all for under $200.00. I was thrilled! Overall the experience was great! Prompt, professional service for a fair price. Will definitely call Beach Breeze Appliance Repair again.

Cristian was very conscientious when in my house -- laid out a blanket for his tools and the parts. He left everything completely clean when he left. The repair was done very competently. He kept me posted by text regarding his arrival time. He arrived within the window he had set for the repair appointment. He is a very thoughtful and friendly person to deal with.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
