After having my initial event date change, I was worried about hiring a caterer on this site. :/ Actually, our original caterer canceled on us at the last minute, so we gave thumbtack a shot anyway. Chef Jose was quick to reply, and gave us the lowest quote out of the 4 we received. I told him about the bind we were in, and he ultimately told me that that they could make it happen. Chef Jose was easy to talk to and created a list of all of our preferred menu options. Surprisingly enough, he even took note of our favorite restaurants in the area, which I personally think was quite a touch of class. The following morning, Chef Brian called me to inform he had produced 3 menus based on Jose's notes, which appeared in my inbox to discuss. I was beyond amazed as Chef Brian scheduled a tasting at my request the following evening. My son and 2 of his friends, along with my wife and I, arrived to Chef Jose's office and were so impressed as soon as we walked in. The kitchen was all stainless steel, immaculately sanitized, and the tasting area was all set. Chef Brian arranged dish after dish, while Chef Jose described each and gave us a run down of how they would be executed at our event. They even offered us wine and champagne, as well as plenty of treats and items they had been working on earlier in the day. We literally felt like we were recording for a cooking show as both chefs featured some amazing French cheeses and their eclectic collection of different preserves! Oh, and the maple bacon popcorn!!! Oh, em gee...We were totally blown away, and felt so lucky to have our original caterer cancel on us for a more lucrative event. These guys rock!!! Totally seems like this team treats their work like fun as they are so passionate with their menu ideas, personable with their manners, and affable with their warmth for their clients. After how they took care of us, I couldn't help but to write such a thorough review. I highly recommend Chefs Jose & Brian from Dade County Food Group, and will insist that my friends have their functions catered by them, too.

This is my first experience taking cooking classes and it has been fantastic. I am finally enjoying cooking healthy without having to sacrifice flavor. Sue has walked me through the process with graceful patience and has made this experience so much fun. I'm glad I finally decided to do this, also very grateful Thumbtack helped me make this search process an easy one. I just relocated and it was scary not having relatives or friends to guide me.

My family has Lou cooking meals several days a week. As both myself and my wife work full time this really takes the pressure off us and gives us more family time. We are very focused on healthy food and Lou does a great job providing that.

We purchased 2 hours of cooking lessons with Stacey as a Father's Day gift. She was so easy to work with and this turned out to be such a creative gift. My dad truly enjoyed his lesson and the amazing food that they prepared.

I hired Chef Robyn Almodovar at first to cater my daughter's 1st birthday. Her staff was very prompt and organized. They had total control of the party which was great for me. We had passed appetizers as well as mini stations set up around my house and the food was to die for. Fresh, vibrant, fun, and most of all delicious! Since than we have hired Chef Robyn for a personal cooking lesson party...let me tell you how much fun that was, and small dinner parties. My family and I consider Chef Robyn as our personal chef....she just doesn't know it yet.

Their food was amazing. I don't usually eat some ingredients in some of the dishes but I wanted to taste the food the way they made it. I'm glad I did!

An exceptional class taught by an exceptional Chef! I am working on my culinary certification and had asked Chef Maury's help to polish my skills up. It took a couple of months until I could finally schedule my class (my schedule won't permit) but Chef Maury replied promptly whenever I send him a message. The class itself lasted for about 4 hours, concentrating on knife skills, stock making and basic cooking techniques. He was very keen in making sure I make the right cuts and correcting me right away. His kitchen is a standard home kitchen so you don't have to worry about being intimidated by big equipment. Whether you have a culinary background like I do or just a home cook who wants to learn more, Chef Maury is the right guy to show you the ropes. I am already looking forward to my next class!

I used chef Tracy of summer rain cafe for a brunch I had the day after my daughters wedding. From the menu she created to fit my budget, to the presentation of the food everything was outstanding. Everything she made was homemade. I will definetly use chef Tracy at my next event and I highly recommend Tracy and summer rain cafe.

Best cook ever best setup best personaity ever all the guests will love him he will go above and beyond everyone’s needs and wants....only downside is he makes too much food so be prepared to eat leftovers for a week like it’s thanksgiving. —Love Sammy we still think about him in NY everyday at lunch and every holiday!!! I am a personal chef who is well experienced and loves to cook. I'm a very ambitious and honest person. My cooking experience teaches me a lot. I cook in the hotel industry (JW Marriott, Ocean House, Wequassett, and Lost Tree Club). Now, I want to cook for a family.

I began baking when I was six years old, and it blossomed from there. I have helped many with changes in their diets and lifestyles and teach how to cook accordingly. I also do healthy cooking. I am a vegetable master. Most people prefer when I cook simply, and they say it's delicious as they can fully taste and savor the flavors of the food.

A healthy, home-made, bistro real food will be made, thinking about the person who loves to eat grown and healthy food. If they don't have time here is Real Food.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
