I hired Carpet Clnic to clean the tiles and grout in my kitchen, bathrooms and entryway. The owner didn't tell me, nor is it in the info provided when ordering this service, that he can't do the job when it's raining heavily. He had scheduled with me to arrive at 9:00AM. When I called at about 9:20, he informed me that because it was raining so hard he would not be able to come because he couldn't keep the back doors of his truck, which house the motor for the cleaning equipment, open. He eventually was able to come that afternoon and complete the work. I was very pleased with the results as my tiles and grout looked great!

Absolutely terrific!! Quick response time, very thorough, prompt start time - simply the best and we will decimate let use again!! Already scheduled appointment for tile/grout cleaning! Beware of others Just because of Low pricing - they use "bait and switch" tactics, end up paying high fees and getting not quality work! Call Jeff at certified carpet cleaning - he's the best!

Quality carpet cleaning job. Very professional. Customer service over the phone at payment time was a little iffy, but everybody's gotta be the new guy once.

Dave & Paul did work in our master bedroom, removing the ceiling tiles that were there and redoing the drywall. They added a coffered ceiling which is beautiful. We love our new ceiling! Only thing keeping them from a 5-star rating is the amount of dust cleanup we had to do after the job.

We contracted Manny to clean our tile and grout. He was extremely easy to work with, responsive, and very professional. He provided a free estimate after measuring and examining the area. He was very accommodating with scheduling. Manny arrived on time, took great care to do no damage to walls or furniture, and the results were fantastic. Highly recommend.

My service of a three-room carpet cleaning was fantastic. The price is fair and the job was done well and fast - three rooms and the hallway in about twenty minutes. We just purchased the home and the whole house smelled fresh and clean! Great job on seriously old green carpet.

Gabor did a FABULOUS job with our carpet! He arrived on time and used the time wisely. I couldn't believe the amount of work he got done in the amount of time he was in our home without 'rushing' the job. We will definitely use Precious Carpet and Tile Cleaning services again!

We hired John to remove a tile floor on our house that had been improperly installed. John worked us into his schedule and came on time, ready to work. He and his helper worked tirelessly to remove old tiles and thinset in order to bring our concrete floor back to smooth. It wasn't an easy job. John has been very accommodating in working to a mutually convenient schedule as we have a house full of furniture to work around and the entire existing floor must come up. When they left, they cleaned everything up and hauled all the old tile and thinset away. Nice job!!

Gator Clean cleaned my rugs, steam cleaned my tile and grout, and cleaned a chair. I did add the chair and a couple of smaller rugs, which they agreed to clean. They did a good job and I was pleased with their service. They did arrive late, but they got tied up with a previous job. I had no problem with that. They were very respectful of my possessions and they had a courteous and helpful attitude. My only problem is that the corners of the tile in some rooms did not get clean. It may be that the machine they use does not go into the cracks/crevices/corners. Other than that, I will use them again.

David steam cleaned the carpet and tile in our new home in Port Orange, FL last week before we moved our furniture in. The team arrived on time and provided me with an exact quote for the tile cleaning based on the actual square footage that we had. They also gave me the $99 5-room special for the carpet. They did a great job and even switched up the work in progress to get the laundry room floor steam cleaned prior to the appliance delivery that was also scheduled during the same time slot. The team was professional and the work was a great value for the cost.

We hired Jason & his team to remodel our bathroom completely, including the floor & wall tiles. They did an awesome job & we were able to use our bathroom & the shower & tub within one week end. Will hire them again soon for other repairs needed. Jay's prices were also very reasonable & affordable.

About

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
