I cannot say enough about these guys! David saved our wedding reception ! What was supposed to be a small wedding turned into a financial nightmare when we lost our free reception venue. It was days before the wedding and down to the wire- not only did they make amazing hors d'duervres they even helped decorate our space. We had a very "adult" crowd and the bartender made amazing Mohitos and put up with our shenanigans. Even decorated our food set up. I was beyond pressed for time and didn't have any help with set up and walked in from our beach ceremony to the reception spot and was blown away by how beautiful it was. They went out of their way to make sure that things were simple, easy, and fun! They were such a blast to work with and to talk to during the whole reception-if you need a catering company to make some amazing food look no further!!! They saved my wedding because quite frankly, at that point I was considering calling it off if I could not figure out a catering company for the reception. I cannot thank y'all enough !

We found Stella's Flowers via Thumbtack and cannot be thankful enough for everything they did for us. Our wedding was at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami. Throughout the process they were amazing, it almost felt like my two favorite aunts were helping me decorate the wedding of my dreams. Things I loved about them and why I'd recommend them and hire them again: 1) Reliability: 100% reliable and responsive. I live in San Francisco and reliability was one of my concerns. After speaking with them on the phone a few times, I felt confident they were the right ladies to help me with the wedding of my dreams. 2) Flexibility: Being on the West Coast and 3 time zones away was a big challenge; however, they helped and guided me throughout the process. We exchanged several pictures, created a Pinterest board and the week before the wedding they took me to the warehouse where they get the flowers to pick the ones I liked. At all times they catered to my needs. 3) Friendly: As I mentioned before, it felt like my two favorite aunts were guiding me through the process. I arrived in Miami a week before the weeding and we met at their office. There, they showed me the centerpieces, pictures of the altar, samples of roses and the best part, they spoiled me by giving me some vitamin C and hot tea :) After a 6 hour red-eye flight, I needed some vitamins to keep going. Overall, I can tell you that Stella and Stella were amazing and made the wedding experience incredibly pleasant. They are insured, so if you ever need them for Vizcaya, they are ready and experienced with the venue. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did! Silvia

Carolina is sweet and easy to work with; you will like her. If you want props for children you must specify you'd like actual props rather than props on a stick to be hand held. She will do either! AllTypesOfEvents was on time, the decor was adorable and the kids got pictures they loved - which was the goal!

So glad to have found Evelin. I had submitted a last minute request for balloon decor. Evelin replied promotly. She was so responsive and gave options to figure out what would be the best for the event. I was the event planner for the event co-oridnating from Dallas, so it required constant calls but she patiently answered all my questions and worked with me effortlessly. She is absolutely perfect! Thanks Evelin!

I highly recommend Yoli - Calepa USA LLC. She is outstanding. Electrician, painter, tile installer and carpenter are excellent craftsmen. I could not be happier with the process and the results!! I obtained several quotes before I decided on hiring Yoli at Calepa USA LLC. She is amazing. She arranged for estimates and was there by my side for the painter, electrician, carpenter and flooring tile installer's visit for giving the estimate's. I was impressed with her vendors and their knowledge. The estimates she obtained were less than the ones I had secured on my own AND I liked her vendors better. Insurance and Licenses were obtained on each vendor as well. Yoli was a huge help during the repair and renovation process post IRMA - She was on the site every morning and at the end of each day! I could go to work and take care of my children without negotiating the daily needs of the vendors. Progress was SWIFT! Quality is amazing and the whole renovation went smoothly. I highly recommend Yoli for any renovation, new construction, repair, large or small job! She is amazing in her design advice, communication skills and is so energetic!

I hired crystal for my baby shower and it came out absolutely amazing . All I told her were the colors I wanted along with a princess theme & she delivered. The price was reasonable and the decor was beyond my expectations. She and her team were professional and super quick at set up and take down . I’m so happy I hired them & will definitely use in the future! Many of my guests asked who I used so I definitely passed along her info !

In a city full of self-proclaimed "party planners," it's refreshing to find a company (or should I say "person") like Just2Party. She's a one woman "experience" planner. Kary holds you by the hand as you watch your creative vision come to life! Not only is she the best in the business, it's because she knows EVERYONE in the business. Her list of relationships with vendors goes on and on, making her party planning skills seamless, effortless, nearly...perfect. If you want overpriced, unnecessary, and exaggerated - then Just2Party is not for you. If you're looking for a talented person who serves her community at reasonable prices then look no further. Just2Party never disappoints.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do interior designers do?

Interior designers do much more than pick complementary paint colors and choose matching furniture — although those tasks are important parts of the job. Unlike decorators, interior designers usually have an associate of science degree or certificate of achievement in interior design from an accredited program. They’re trained in drafting, lighting and computer aided design (CAD), and are experts in room-specific design and residential space planning. Interior designers use these skills to plan and design safe, highly functional and beautiful interior spaces, from kitchens and bathrooms to family rooms and bedrooms. They determine space requirements, work within building codes and inspection regulations, and meet accessibility standards. An interior designer’s day-to-day job includes creative and technical tasks, both of which often require great communication skills:

  • Creating model rooms and visuals using design software.
  • Researching different textiles, materials, finishes, lighting and furniture.
  • Hiring suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Estimating costs and making bids on potential jobs.

How do you find a good interior designer?

For many homeowners, the difference between a good interior designer and a bad one is simply a matter of taste — but all good designers have similar skill sets. Interior designers usually have a degree or certificate in interior design, with training in design principles and lighting, drafting, and computer aided design (CAD) software. Good interior designers have strong color balancing skills and understand how different colors influence spatial perception and moods. They know the building and electrical codes in the areas where they practice, and they make sure that any contractors they hire also work to those codes. They are knowledgeable about different upholstery fabrics and draperies, stay ahead of residential design trends, and maintain their own individual creativity. Also, good interior designers have excellent space designing skills, so they can arrange a space efficiently and with ideal traffic flow. Ultimately, hiring a good interior designer means pinpointing one whose signature style is complementary to your personal style — so checking out many designers’ portfolios is a must — and whose communication methods match yours.

How do you choose an interior designer?

Choosing an interior designer is all about finding one whose signature style fits well with your tastes and who can work within your budget. To choose the right professional for your interior design project, ask yourself these five questions:

  • What is your signature style? Good interior designers can both describe their personal aesthetic and demonstrate their signature style through their portfolios. Make sure it appeals to you.
  • How will you make sure the design fits my lifestyle? Good designers understand that the interior design must improve a homeowner’s experience in their home and fit into their lifestyle; for example, a white suede sofa is a poor choice for a family with large dogs and small children.
  • How much do you charge? Depending on the project, an interior designer may charge an hourly rate, a flat fee or a percentage of the project’s total cost.
  • How will you stick to my budget? An interior designer should have a plan for staying within your budget, which includes full transparency of costs and flexibility when choosing materials and furnishings.

Because an interior design project is highly collaborative and based on hard-to-define personal preferences, it’s most important to choose a designer who communicates clearly and listens closely to you.

How much do interior designers charge?

You can hire an interior design for a job as basic as a one-room consultation or as complex as supervising the design of an entire new home, helping with space planning, choosing color palettes, and shopping for furniture, flooring and artwork. The size and scope of the job will determine how much an interior designer charges; the average national cost for an interior designer ranges from $75 to $100 or more per hour. Other cost factors include the person’s reputation — interior designers to the stars are usually more expensive — and region. Most interior designers charge an average of $100-$225 for an initial consultation, but some will charge an hourly rate, usually starting at an average of $50, for larger projects that require extensive consultations. Hourly rates may be available for smaller projects, such as redecorating a living room or staging a home for sale; for instance, shopping and consulting can cost an average of $75 to $100 per hour, while staging costs and average $95 per hour. For many homeowners, a percentage of an interior designer’s cost is recouped through the professional discounts they receive from their vendors.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
