Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.

Omg these two were amazing!!!! They saved the wedding in more ways than one. Our hotel was beyond useless AND rude, so Michael and Keerthi stepped up. They went all the way from assembling our chairs, to decorating our arch, to actually taking orders and serving the food due to lack of competence from The Marriott Current Hotel staff. I cannot thank them enough. If you think you don’t need day of coordinators, you’re wrong. They do so much you don’t even notice. I was told the amount they did the day after and gave them another tip for appreciation. Hire them! You’ll love them and you won’t regret it, they are worth it.

Misunderstanding! 1st let me say this Pro was very polite and kind, the couple times we had spoken. This is why I'm updating from 1⭐ to 2⭐⭐ I'm still not 100% clear on how we didn't have a clear understanding of my expectations and Pro's job?? Example: Before payment we spoke on ceremony and reception will be at two different venues. Also, stated there were a few items (my dad's picture, candles etc) very important to me & would like placed in certain areas at both venues. Pro advised me that we would start working together 30days (4/20) from wedding 5/20. 4/25 I wrote pro about appt times for walkthrough and vendors etc. Pro wasn't available until 5/1 that evening. We spoke about timeline from ceremony to reception (Dinner, songs, cake cutting etc) during this call spoke on chairs being delivered. Pro stated " I only have 2 hands" do you have someone handling chairs. Now (the issue) After call speaking with my better half and a family friend. We felt best to cancel. I'm not confrontational. She was so nice! I NEVER felt Pro should've setup chairs, but was lead to believe as a coordinator she would delegate my vision like placement of the chairs and other special items I spoke on. I honestly feel we just had a misunderstanding of the expectations before ceremony.My fiance and I sent an emailed on 5/6 that morning due to unforeseen circumstances we will be canceling services. Pro said NO REFUND within 14days. We strongly felt a refund was fair 3/6, 3/7,3/8, 3/9, 3/10, 3/11, 3/12, 3/13, 3/14, 3/15, 3/16, 3/17, 3/18, 3/19, 3/20 (15 calendar days)Plus, NO WORK had been done! One call 5/1 spoke on timeline not worth $750. After 2days of requesting refund and Pro stated should've cancelled sooner. Put did advise where I could save money on cake etc. Honestly haven't worked in few weeks (medical) But the money wasn't an issue. Again, I'm not a confrontational person! We filed dispute and I was advised to submit 1st review. Pro said willing to complete job. I asked for $500 refund. But after so much back n forth (stressful needing to focus on wedding) we wrote Pro offering $400 refund or complete job with a clear understanding on what to except. Pro wrote 5/15 doesn't feel comfortable completing job and no on refund because pro is loosing money (leads) because of the dispute. I replied "Respectfully understand" *Let's note Pro wouldn't have missed leads had she refund us 5/6 before dispute. Pro asked for review to be removed. I did say I'll update it. So wedding in 4days. Very disappointing on how this played out. I'm not confrontational and believe in fairness to all! We are waiting on case manager to help resolve this issue. Snapshots below shows 2 calls before money 3/15 We went over my needs and pro stating how they'll delegate and handle everything so I am not feeling any stress and can enjoy my day. She made me feel very comfortable (EXACTLY) why we picked Pro) 3/18 call- needing Pro's cash app. Pro has been paid in full 4/7. *Note Pro emailed 5/8 after dispute being filed a timeline that we discussed on 5/1. This pro us probably amazing we didn't experience it do to lack of understanding or communication. I believe if we would have started speaking earlier 30 days prior we could have work The Kinks out and I would not have felt so stressed. *We wish this Pro well and may we resolve this sooner than later! Working with 3 other vendors on here for wedding it's going well!!!
