I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Bryan Purefoy of Happy Wife AC. I hired him to fix a failed condenser, replace all the ductwork, and add a mini-split in a converted garage. It turns out he outsources most of the work--thankfully because the work he did handle himself (the condenser repair) still didn't work until I hired someone else. They detailed everything he did wrong and the damage he caused to the copper pipe and valve on the condenser. I have another professional on video describing the damage he caused and the damage he caused was extensive. His welding damaged the copper pipe and valve, and he refuses to take responsibility for it or pay for damages. Or even refund the amount paid for a service he didn't provide. The condenser kept failing even after he said he fixed it on multiple occasions. He came out several times to fix the condenser. During the last visit, he was here until 1 AM because he ran out of oxygen for his welding. Despite all that, the repair was a disaster. Less than a week later, the condenser started blowing warm air again. This has happened twice since I paid him after he assured me it was fixed. I finally had a new provider come out and paid another $2360 for them to repair the damage he caused that resulted in all of the oil from the compressor draining and all of the coolant. He refuses to refund the money paid to fix the issue that he didn't fix or pay for the damage he caused to the condenser. It gets worse. When he first 'fixed' the condenser, he didn't even reconnect the brackets to the hurricane pad. I had to follow up with him, and only then did he admit he needed to buy new ones. He was planning on leaving it unsecured like that. He did the same thing with the surge protector he was supposed to install. He didn;t the first couple of times he came out and only finally did when I asked him about it, without acknowledging anything. Why wasn't this addressed when the job was supposedly finished? He also left a hole in my ceiling that he made without authorization and didn't fix it. This level of incompetence is unacceptable. With so many HVAC providers available in the area, do yourself a favor and choose someone else. Stay far away from this guy..he's got a history of not paying the people he hires to do the work and the work he does do himself is abysmal. There is at least one review where someone had a mechanical lien placed on their property by the contractors he hired to do work because he didn't pay them. He has an F rating on BBB. My next intention is to file suit against him for the amount I paid him to fix a condenser he didn't fix, to repair the holes he left in my ceiling, and to cover the cost of the damage he caused to the condenser that I had to pay someone else to fix. On top of everything else, when I reached out to him through Thumbtack to address these concerns and refund what I paid, he stated that I should file a warranty claim, even though HIS actions led to the additional damage. I'll post pictures of the horrible work he did shortly.
