This is my first time working with a personal trainer. I have been working out for a long time at different gyms and I was always surprised to see how little attention the "personal trainers" paid to their customers. After my first class with David, I was completely convinced that this guy knows what he is doing and cares for his customers. He is flexible with scheduling, which is really important to accommodate my busy schedule. Second, he is looking at your form constantly. He does not care about how much you are doing but how you are doing it instead. He explains to you why is important to correct posture, control your balance, your movements, etc. He is patient and gives you reinforcement when you are doing things right. He praises your progress, no matter how little it is. He gives you tips on nutrition and additional exercises you can do at home on your own. I never look at the clock or watch while I am working out because I truly enjoy my routines with him. I wish I could do it more times a week! Thank you David! You are a "real" personal trainer!

I was impressed with Vaughn Slaughter before even talking to him. When I submitted my quote request for a personal trainer via thumbtack I stated some medical concerns including having bad knees. He was the only one who acknowledged my medical situation in his email. We talked twice on the phone before meeting. I can tell during our initial face-to-face meeting he was a good listener. When I met Vaughn at the gym, he took me through an actual workout incorporating weight training and cardio woven together. He explained which muscles were being worked directly and indirectly. He made me feel comfortable and was clear about letting me know what he was doing. During this assessment, Vaughn said he was studying my range of motion, flexibility and how well I was able to follow instructions to get the most out of my workouts. Vaughn took everything we talked about over the phone as well as what we did during the free consultation session and told me what we could do if I decided to choose him as my trainer. I HIRED HIM ON THE SPOT. I know I play a major role in my transformation (living a healthier lifestyle, weight loss and toning), but I truly believe having Vaughn on my side as a trainer, a coach and a person around to cheer me on, I know I will get there. I highly recommend V to anyone seeking a personal trainer. My 17 year old daughter and I train with V twice a week. I appreciate how V starts the workouts on time and develops a different workout plan each and every time. For my daughter and I this adds excitement and a new challenge each time. I have been training at AAP since July 2011, no not that long but long enough to learn that Ashley and Alex are AMAZING! About 3 weeks ago I fell of my eating plan, I started eating bad, I stopped working out I was headed to a very bad place. She has early morning hours and WebFit 1:1 sessions (Yes, you can work out from the comfort of your own home with just an internet connection and a web browser). I had reached a plateau with other fitness programs. I had also tried several trainers in the past and they worked for some time, but I reached plateaus with them again. About 5 months ago, I started personal training with Sean Hayes at Crossfit Croton. From the first couple of sessions, I started to see a difference in my fitness level, endurance and ability to perform in sports. We started with fundamentals and moved on from there. I am now able to do a wide variety of exercises one after another at a higher intensity level, with little breaks in-between. Sean adjusts his training to your changing needs and requirements, so it is very customized. For example, if he sees you can do more, he will gladly oblige! He is also extremely knowledgeable about the body, foods and nutrition and offers unlimited advise on all aspects of keeping fit. His sessions are also very fun and motivating! It has done wonders for my confidence level. I liked it so much, I recommended Sean's personal training to my brother, who has also started seeing a difference from the first couple of sessions. Sean also provides free nutritional guidance AND workout plans for my days off. Keep in mind, I have been training with Sean for over 5 months now, so this review is not simply based on a few days' or weeks' worth of training. If you are serious about being fit, whether it is to gain muscle mass or overall conditioning,or both, I highly recommend Crossfit Croton, just like I did to my brother. You won't look back!
