When I came to Dave Lockwood for guitar lessons, I was struggling in kind of a self-taught rut. I could play chords for a lot of songs, but I didn't know the theory or anything you would call "advanced". Dave's methods show you how to understand the fretboard and why certain notes and chords go together. He is really helping me become a complete player. Mostly though, Dave is a very patient teacher. He doesn't mind going over the same material with you until you understand it and he'll take different approaches until you get it. I really appreciate this about his teaching methods.

Benjamin is a great teacher and a well-rounded musician. Starting out as a complete beginner with the guitar, he gave me lots of good tips and was great at explaining things in a way I could digest. I'm looking forward to taking more lessons with him as we continue to progress my playing skills.

Excellent first lesson. As an adult learning guitar, Eric's was a more holistic approach that got right into a meaningful lesson activity directly applied to the genre of music of interest to me.

It is a privilege and an honor to be a Tara Simon Studios student. Tara's obvious performance talent is matched by her gift as a teacher. I started with Tara 3 years ago as an absolute beginner piano student, with nary a note of music capability explored, much less an iota of music theory knowledge. Tara was as eager and willing to take my humble starting place, delighting in my baby steps of progress, which were likely even slower for an adult student! Tara's insistence on accuracy/ tempo/attitude/professionalism prevailed, regardless of my level of piano skill. The studio policies and processes are as impeccable as the music training; Tara and her staff are on time and devoted to their students. The performance showcases are an outstanding aspect of TSS teaching, where the student learns from the stage as well as at lesson time. I am happy to say that there are numerous songs from several favorite composers that I can play, thanks to Tara and TSS. For anyone considering lessons from TSS, hurry! It is a gift for you.

Chris is a one of a kind guitar instructor. He is personable and dedicated to teaching music. I have learned more from him in a short amount of time than I have from previous instructors. He understands that each individual learns differently and he creates a program for every student. Working/Playing music with him has given me more motivation to play more at home (I work 50+ hours a week) than any other instructor has ever given me. I would highly recommend Mr.Silver and I am looking forward to continuing my lessons with him.

Russell is amazingly talented! He made our wedding so much more special by sharing his talent and singing and playing acoustic guitar. Russell is wonderful to work with. He was so accommodating. I would rate him above 5 starts if I could!

Jimmy was one of my friends who play guitar, When I started learning Jimmy was an outstanding friend who always encouraged me. Once he saw I was kinda serious he used to give me scales and exercises to get better. I have nothing but great things to say about Jimmy. He has a great style of teaching and encourages you to be better than you thought you could be. He is smart punctual and very flexible. He can teach you to play anything he is truly the most versatile musician I know. Jazz, rock, acoustic, classical , he can do it all and teach you effortlessly.

I have enjoyed banjo lessons with Max for over a year and highly recommend him as a teacher. As much muse as instructor, his enthusiasm and love for music are infectious. Max is a tremendously talented musician with a joyful, humble demeanour and is unfailingly generous in sharing his musical knowledge. I find his approach very practical in that it is based on learning songs and tunes, incorporating singing when appropriate, and on learning both by ear and using tablature. He always offers a helpful variety of personal study tools - videos, sound recordings, and tab (which he will personally arrange as needed) - enabling me to continue learning and improving on my own time. Never daunted by even the sourest note in my repertoire, Max has helped me to grow organically according to my own inclinations and abilities. He is always ready with the perfect new tune, a relevant bit of theory when it's practical to the topic at hand, a kind word of encouragement, and a fresh idea for perfecting even the trickiest of new licks. All of that, plus we just have a darn good time.

What can I say other than Mr. Dylan is an awesome guitar instructor!! He was blessed with a gift to teach...especially younger students. My son was almost 6 years old when he began taking lessons, and as any parent knows, the attention span of most 5 year olds isn't that long. Mr. Dylan began incorporating "game" time to break up the different segments of the lesson. This was a brilliant move on many levels because it kept the instruction time in managable chunks, and it incentivized my son to pay attention so he could get extra attemps at basketball. It's been an amazing journey thus far watching my almost 6 year old learn to play "Happy Birthday" and "Mary Had a Little Lamb", to now only 10 months later, playing "Let Her Go" by Passenger utilizing some semi-advanced techniques. If your child has an interest in guitar, either electric or acoustic, do your child a favor and allow Mr. Dylan to lead them down this exciting path. I promise you will be amazed by where the journey takes you!

Siddharth was a good instructor. He did a good job of teaching me the basics of the acoustic guitar as a beginner. He does not charge a lot either. Will recommend him to anyone interested in learning how to play the guitar.

I took 4 lessons with Kris before moving out of town, and I wish I could have taken him with me! I like that now I can pick up a guitar and feel comfortable enough to strum a little song, bc before I started I didn't even know how to hold the guitar right. Definitely a great teacher for beginners... i'd take more lessons if I lived closer!

    About

Hi! I am currently a college senior offering private guitar lessons. I have been playing and studying guitar consistently for 10 years. Also, I have an abundance experience in recording and performing. I am flexible with lesson times throughout the week. The length of each lesson is negotiable, but I would prefer each lesson to last from 30 minutes to an hour. Also, prices are negotiable, but the standard rate is $25 for 30 minutes. My lesson style is interactive; meaning that in the first lesson, I will present the student with some basic fundamental exercises and then I find out what the student wants to learn. The student will choose a song that they enjoy and would be reasonable for them to learn within roughly 1-5 sessions. On the second lesson, we will begin by reviewing the student's progress with their basic exercises and then move on to learning the song of their choice. Once the student has learned the song of their choice, they will once again be presented with a new set of exercises to practice and get to chose a new song to learn. Requirements: 1. That the student has their own instrument 2. That the student purchases a blank tablature booklet (this can typically be found at any music store that sells guitars for a reasonable price) 3. Following the first session, payment needs to be made upon arrival. 4. I only teach beginners who are 20 years of age and under.
