They arrived when promised, and the duct cleaning was done quickly. Mold was found in the system, and an ultra-violet light was recommended and installed. The $750 upcharge turned out to be grossly overpriced when I afterwards checked the internet and found the light on Amazon for $100. It took no more than 5 minutes to install.

I got some duct cleaning done last November and my air conditioning has become very loud since then almost like an airplane is passing by every time the system turns on to cool on our first floor. It was so worth it! We just moved into a home where the previous owner did not keep their vents cleaned or maintained for years. Cooper Massey services responded quickly and came out the next day to service our new home! BEWARE, ALMOST GOT HOODWINKED INTO $3.5K EXTRA. We had 2 technicians come to the door of our newly bought home: they were very safe & friendly, kept their masks on and stayed at a safe distance. Within 15 minutes they took me outside and, in a grave and contrite tone, informed me that I had black mold in every single vent in the house, showing me a blackened vent. Black mold, he said, could cause respiratory illness and even cancer. I had family visiting about about 5 kids over- he referenced concern for their health and safety"I see you have kids in the house and everything." They would be unable to complete the cleaning without a mold remediation treatment with UV filtration system installation in addition to the cleaning fee totaling about $4400. But they could get it all done today, should only take about 2-3 hours, and then the house would be safe! I must confess, they really got me. I was thinking of my young daughter falling ill and was ready to sign my life away. The move had been so stressful and it made sense that of course, another disaster had struck. And they were so kind, concerned for our health. I called my husband and that's when we began to ask questions- didn't we have a mold test done before buying the house? (Yes- no black mold) Shouldn't this be covered by a home warranty? (Per the technician "you can ask, but this usually isn't covered") Don't you have to send a sample to confirm black mold vs grime buildup? (No test was done). After realizing that I wasn't going to make an on the spot decision, the technician kindly told us to take our time, that they would want us to feel totally comfortable and after all mold is a "slow killer" anyway (strange after all that windup & urgency about the children before) and left. After calling around to our real estate agent, the home warranty company, and other duct cleaning vendors, we finally realized that we were almost conned into a ridiculously expensive upgrade. If there really was black mold in our ducts and vents, the entire duct system would have had to be ripped out and replaced. A test should have been done confirming the problem. I am grateful that my husband and real estate agent pulled me back from the ledge. Please be careful!
