About

Rita is wonderful! We are already on our second 90 minute lesson and in two sessions we've learned MORE than eight hour lessons in a typical dance studio that we initially tried.

About

Paul came to us for a one time lesson in preparation for our son's upcoming wedding. We are not dancers and just wanted to learn some steps so we could join in the fun. He is a very kind and patient teacher who made us feel comfortable. We enjoyed the lesson and feel more confident.

About

North Georgia School of Ballet is a beautiful, much-needed addition to the Sandy Springs arts and education scene! The dance teachers are true professionals who provide challenging as well as creative instruction to students of a wide age range. The cheerful studio is clean, light, welcoming and convenient. Founder Jennifer McDonnell is a passionate instructor who takes a real interest in all of her students, making sure they are reaching their potential while learning about the art of dance. My two teenage daughters look forward to their classes each week and wouldn't go anywhere else!

About

My approach to a new work is more exploratory than methodical. I enjoy the process of painting because it is one of improvisation and exchange between the materials and the subsequent ideas which arise from my interacting with the media on the surface. I collect subject ideas from my surrounding environment, using found objects and materials to inspire and sometimes to physically bring into the pieces (in mixed media work). I enjoy exploring and experimenting with abstraction and playing with the textural surface tension between the background and foreground spaces; however, I consider myself foremost, a figurative and portrait artist. Since I can remember, I have drawn portraits. I am fascinated by life drawing not only because it is an exceptional skill, but because when drawing (or painting) from life, the subject is rediscovered in the transference between life and two dimensionality, and something intimate and inimitable is left. So in treating even my more abstracted works, I often include rendered imagery from life, ensuring each piece, whether large scale mural work, or intimate portraiture, is a unique and subtle rendering of the subjects that it portrays. If you are looking to have a portrait done, want a contemporary imagining of a traditional subject, or would like to commission a stylized mural or other piece professionally painted, my work may be what you are looking for. Art Instruction: I have seven years experience teaching all age ranges and skill-levels in the fine arts. I truly enjoy teaching and helping kids and adults hone their craft, weather they are beginners learning the basics in drawing techniques, or continuing artists seeking to push themselves in a more advanced direction. I will help you find the right approach in daily lessons and tailor them to your specific goals and interests. Anything is possible! A few examples are shown on my page, so if you are interested in seeing more or have a particular piece you would like me to create for you, please let me know. About

Kyle, is a world class instructor, and one of the most incredible dance instructors you could ever hope to meet. Her knowledge and love of her craft is truly astounding! Her teaching is not the flash in the pan, here is a nifty pattern that you hope to execute. Her teaching begins by giving you a solid foundation on which you can build a strong and sustainable dance house upon. She teaches you the fundamentals and techniques of understanding the dance, the music, and how they relate. She shows you that dancing is not just about the steps, but what happens between the steps, what happens with the rest of your body. Because dance goes beyond just moving your feet. Every thing she teaches you flows back into making you a better dancer. From the warm up to the last pattern. I have had the opportunity to take from a number of instructors, and very few have ever been able to impart their knowledge to me the way she does. And on top of that she is a fantastic and funny person, who keeps dance instruction what it is supposed to be...FUN!

About

I teach group tango classes and private lessons in the Buckhead area and travel primarily through the SE. I am also certified to teach specialized "Adapted Tango" classes for those with Parkinson's and the senior populations. I do this as part of a group, with a partner, and on my own. I have worked with couples and choreographed their wedding dances as well. I have danced most if my life and am classically trained. My background runs the gamut from classical ballet to jazz, tap, modern, African and international folk dance. I have studied kinesiology, have taught specialized exercise classes, and have worked hands-on in the fitness industry and physical therapy for many years. I believe that what I bring to my craft is the prior technique and understanding of body movement. I am very hands-on and believe that often, that "speaks" louder than words. So, whether it be private lessons, group classes, or a combination of both, this is where to start your journey with the passionate dance that improves your balance, strengthens your core, and teaches you to communicate in a very new way!
