I was a Division I Athlete -- Boston College track and field as well as rugby. In 2006, my world was turned upside down when I was struck by a light truck while mountain biking home from the gym. I was left immobilized and in severe agonizing chronic pain (hip, lower back and knees). After spending a year in traditional physical therapy, chiropractors, pain pills, muscle relaxants, back braces, shock therapy, massages, and acupuncture, I decided to explore another approach that would give my body a chance to heal and strengthen itself. I spent the next three years working with the top coaches/trainers and specialists to learn exercise protocols to free my body of pain, to reestablish my ability to move in ranges that my body simply said it could no longer do. Due to the accident, I suffered severely compressed and herniated discs resulting in painful sciatica; my hips and knees felt as if it were bone on bone. After 3 years of intensive training, I moved better and have more core and structural strength than I did when I was 20 years old. Today , I am pain-free and again lead an active lifestyle which includes competing in triathlons, mountain hiking, and wakeboarding. My style of training incorporates all the methodologies that I found successful in restoring my health -- not just "show", but "go" training. These methodologies go well beyond traditional training that is taught in most trainer certification courses. I have and continue to educate myself and invest in the best tools and methods for my clients to achieve their desired goals. As an avid fan and amateur in boxing, MMA, football, track-and-field, I incorporate all the conditioning and movements into many of my clients' programs. Even some of my most passive clients seem to enjoy boxing. I have yet to work with any clients (even professional athletes) who were not challenged by my exercise and conditioning programs. My goal with every client is to teach them how to move with ease (effortlessly) to develop strength, speed and endurance. My aim is to make working out simple but effective and challenging. I will educate you as to the right way to build strength, improve balance, prevent injuries, and the best to keep your body strong, lean, agile, and always pain-free. Richard has been a great "life" and fitness trainer. He is very knowledgeable and truly cares about your health and progress. He conducted a personal assessment, evaluated my weight loss needs/goals and developed a workout/eating plan that works for me. Trey is an amazing trainer!! I needed his help in getting my head back into working out. I was an athlete in my younger years and because of work and kids I didn't take time for myself and stopped working out for years. Getting out of the habit is easy and trying to get back into the habit of working out all the time is very tough! Trey helped get me back into shape with a routine that was tailored to just me. I'm extremely picky and won't be bothered by the trainers at LA Fitness or any gym for that matter. Most of them have no clue and don't have all the proper credentials, well Trey does!! I swam competitively for years and swam in college and have had the luxury of having the best trainers around so my bar of what I expect is set pretty high. Trey exceeded my expectations not only did he help get me excited to workout again but also got me back on track with my diet. Diet is key and if you don't know what to eat all your hard work won't pay off. Trey isn't your typical trainer he will help you with what your needs are and tailor a program for just you!! Trey was worth every single cent I paid him... As I can't put a price tag on my health!!! It's more expensive to be unhealthy and you don't enjoy life as much... I signed up and pre-paid for 36 sessions with V last summer and plan to do even more. V was very flexible in his schedule and always had a well-planned out and organized routine for each of my visits. The 30 minute workouts were rigorous and thorough. I felt great, looked better and most importantly, improved my overall health thanks to V. I would highly recommend V as a private fitness instructor and plan to enroll with him again in the near future.
AAP was a great experience! I joined AAP to get in shape for my beach wedding. In 4 months they were able to help me change my whole body! I went from 147 pounds to 135! I went from having 24% body fat to 13%! I am 5'8" and was wearing size 10 jeans and now I wear a 4! They not only help you exercise in the gym they teach you about nutrition and diet. Ashley takes you on healthy shopping trips that teach you about the healthy, clean foods you should be eating! She is continuously motivating you through emails, videos, and Facebook messages. Getting in shape is hard work but You will not get bored of your diet or routine with AAP, they make fitness exciting! They have a fantastic new gym and great trainers. They offer Fit Camps so you can exercise with them almost every day, no excuses! If you are looking for a place that really cares about you getting healthy and not just making money call AAP! I was able to completely change my body in 4 months! I am happier and have so much more energy! I finally feel like I have the body that I want and deserve. They helped me feel my best on my wedding day and I am so grateful!
Back in September of 2013 I hit my all time high of 210 pounds! Depressed, stressed, and feeling defeated, I did a quick google search for female trainers (I have tried male trainers and never felt comfortable). I.L.M.B was actually the first site I click on and I must say it has been one of the best decisions I have made. Not only has LaMonica help me reach my short term goals, she continues to push me to reach my long term goal also. When I moved back home from college in 2008, I was on a mission to lose the "freshman 15" that never went away. I joined the local YMCA and began taking any and all fitness classes they offered. By the time 2009 came around, I still hadn't shed those pounds like I'd planned to. I lacked the motivation and drive to get it done. I was ready to call it quits and accept my weight gain as just another part of life. It was around that time that Joanie asked me and a few others to try a new class she was testing out that was jam packed with high intensity cardio. There is no way I would've made it through that class without Joanie's motivation. I realized that she was the motivation and drive I needed to get in shape. From then on, I made it a point to attend as many of her classes as I could and within 2 months I was down 20 pounds and in the best shape I've ever been. With her encouragement and guidance, I was able to maintain my weight loss and fitness level. Fast forward to 2012 - I found out I was pregnant in March 2012. I took full advantage of pregnancy and gained a total of 75 pounds. Lucky for me, Joanie started a bootcamp clinic soon after I delivered. I knew that if she was capable of helping me back in 2009, she was my only hope of getting back in shape after such a large weight gain. Boy, did she have her work cut out for her! Bootcamp began and eight 6-week sessions later, the 75 pounds was gone! Joanie spent numerous hours each week preparing our workouts to suit our fitness goals while tailoring them to fit each person's fitness level. I've never met anyone so dedicated to others' health. Joanie is an honest person who will get you the results you're looking for. I'm convinced that if it were not for Joanie, my weight loss and fitness goals would've taken much longer and not near as enjoyable. Her motivation, kind heart send sense of humor are just what is needed after a long day at work. She has a seemingly endless menu of exercise routines and caring style that makes you look forward to exercising.
