William is warm, personable, and knowledgeable! I took piano and composition lessons with him, and his creativity is contagious and inspiring. Since I started lessons, my technique has improved so much (especially for my left hand). I also feel that I have found my voice for composing, and I am proud to show others what I have written. It is clear that William is always thinking of his students, and he has connected me to many wonderful opportunities. He makes lessons feel fun and productive, and I cannot imagine a more qualified and caring teacher. Thank you, Will!

Rob not only teaches me to play the piano and sing, he teaches me to make music! His ability as teacher and musician is surpassed only by his love of sharing his gifts. Rob seems to be able to meet each of his students exactly where they are and helps them to find the best in themselves to continue to grow and to reach their musical goals. Rob is very professional and takes his job seriously, but manages to make the lessons fun and instructs with no intimidation or judgement. I am thankful to learn from Rob and highly recommend him as a music teacher for all ages and levels.

Daniel is hands down the best guitar teacher I could have asked for. I'm a completely new player, and I went through 3 other instructors before Daniel. None of them could get me to understand the basic concepts and techniques in any way that worked for me, until I started working with Daniel from Mountain Side Guitar. He had the patience and teaching experience to get me to understand the things I'd been trying to learn for years in a straight forward and clear way that no one before him had. Now I'm confidently playing a lot of my favorite songs with no problem and improving after each lesson! I would highly recommend Daniel to anyone wanting to take lessons. After he's shown me some of his own songs, I'm sure he'd have no problem teaching even the most advanced players a thing or two.

Kip has been my voice instructor for almost two years. He focuses on the core basics of breathing, shaping the tone and really communicating through my singing. My range has increased several notes above where I started because of this. My choir director notices and appreciates the difference, and frankly, I enjoy singing more. I am the proverbial "old dog" being taught new tricks! As a bonus: Kip individualizes his training to me as a real person... not just another student. As a very busy professional and CEO of a local company, I make time in my week for my lessons.

I have really enjoyed working with Marlene on learning the guitar over the last year and a half. The lessons have been a combination of notes, chords, and tab, and I like the stylistic diversity of offerings from classical pieces like "Malaguena" to "You and Me" by Lifehouse. The lessons are informative, enjoyable, and affordable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a general introduction to playing the guitar.

I had never taken voice lessons prior to Craig's. When I first met Craig, I told him that I wanted to be a better singer, but I was not sure of which part of what I was supposed to be improving on to be a better singer. After the first session with him, I was sure that he could help me improve my singing because he let me understand and let me see what I was doing wrong while I was singing. Each lesson, I could sing better, and I could project my voice better. I also participated in his recital and it was fun and was a great experience for me. Now, I feel that I can control my voice waaaay better than before (although I still have to work on it). It is worth your time if you are thinking of taking a voice training lesson. I love the fact that it's fun and he lets you sing the songs you like :)

I have been taking lessons from Cat for the last three years. The first year or so was in person and we have done Skype lessons for the last two years. I have loved taking lessons with her! She is a very skilled teacher. It always amazes me how much she can hear happening in my voice - even over Skype. She's a true professional. I always look forward to our lessons. I highly recommend her!

    About

My name is Alexander Conley Whetstone and I have been teaching piano (as a trade) ever since I graduated from Mililani High School in 2011. Since then, I have jumped from being a piano major at the University of Hawaii to the more stable academic pursuit of professional aeronautics (I am an aspiring military pilot). Despite changing my career goals, I will never abandon music for it is a detrimental aspect within my life. I have been playing piano since the age of 5 and I am confident in my ability to teach and pass on all the knowledge that I have, and will continue to garner from musical theory. I believe that my methods and philosophies are superior to my competitors for the following reasons: 1. My beginner to intermediate courses range from $20-30 (depending on if I travel to you or you travel to me), which proves to be a bargain in comparison to the average music instructor's rate of $40-50 an hour. 2. Although a higher price would suggest a higher-quality learning environment, my case is quite the contrary. My novice to level 5 lesson plans are guaranteed to provide the same (if not better) experience offered by my more established rivals. If you are not satisfied with your first lesson, then it is completely free. 3. The final advantage of learning piano and musical theory from me is the comfortable and relaxed environment that I can provide. This is my most important approach towards potential and existing clients because many people dread their progress and begin to doubt themselves, especially when they are paying up to $50 an hour only to learn the basics. This can obviously take away the fun in mastering music and can become extremely stressful for both the student and the person(s) paying such a large amount of money, which I will not stand for. I will admit that I have much to learn, but I am confident that my basic understanding of musical theory will prevail in the end. You can think of my course as a "two-way" learning environment; while you attempt to understand and apply the fundamentals of music, I will be learning from you, which will help me strengthen my individual lesson plans, as well as strengthen my teaching methods for future students. I hope you can give me a chance to prove my value, you will not regret it.
