Newly relocated military family to Hawaii, we had the task of finding piano lessons for our 4 children that could also be the right fit into our busy and ever-changing schedule. A friend recommended Mr. Robert Hartley. We contacted Mr. Hartley and expressed our need for in-home lessons, schedule flexibility and different skill levels for each of our children. Mr. Hartley was very tenacious in doing what he could to accommodate us and each of our needs. Mr. Hartley has been our piano teacher now for the past year and we are delighted that not only have our needs been met, but our expectations have been exceeded. The individual attention and care given to each or our children (ages 14, 13, 11 & 6) based on their varying personalities and skill level is amazing. Mr. Hartley's ability to guide ALL of our children individually and as a group is commendable. We have found Mr. Hartley to be reliable, timely and excellent to work with. Mr. Hartley is always careful to let us know well in advance if there needs to be a change in schedule and like wise, is extremely flexible when we need to cancel or change as well. We are fortunate to have found Mr. Hartley and recommend him highly.
William is warm, personable, and knowledgeable! I took piano and composition lessons with him, and his creativity is contagious and inspiring. Since I started lessons, my technique has improved so much (especially for my left hand). I also feel that I have found my voice for composing, and I am proud to show others what I have written. It is clear that William is always thinking of his students, and he has connected me to many wonderful opportunities. He makes lessons feel fun and productive, and I cannot imagine a more qualified and caring teacher. Thank you, Will!
My experience with Ms Asami was very enjoyable and rewarding. She is a very knowledgeable teacher and her approach seemed so simple and fun. I will be recommending her to all my friends interested in learning to play the piano!!!! Thank you Ms Asami for guiding me. I will forever be grateful for what you have bestowed upon me!!!
I have really enjoyed working with Marlene on learning the guitar over the last year and a half. The lessons have been a combination of notes, chords, and tab, and I like the stylistic diversity of offerings from classical pieces like "Malaguena" to "You and Me" by Lifehouse. The lessons are informative, enjoyable, and affordable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a general introduction to playing the guitar.
Our three children have been attending Keiki Kani since 2007, progressing from the early children's music classes through to group classes and private piano tuition. Ms Camilla and Ms Desmarie have instilled a joy and love of music in the children that will take them forward in years to come. Because they can all read music now they are able to pick up any instrument and have a head start in learning something new. We look forward to more years of continuing at Keiki Kani!
Kainoa Fukumoto is a fine teacher. He is very approachable and provides a very comfortable environment in his lessons, yet pays close attention to fine detail of playing and offers keen insight to in his teaching! I would recommend his piano tuteledge to anyone serious about learning to play piano and/or wishing to improve.
Great school. Great instructor. My son is an extremely talented player, but he was burning out on the classics; he needed something more; something to motivate him. I tried Puna*** School's music program but my son played better than the instructor assigned to him. She made him give up practicing Flight of the Bumblebee because she couldn't keep up; and he subsequently lost his ability and willingness to play it. Carolyn at Manoa, however, introduced him to rag, improvisation and rock -- yes, rock! Queen's classic, as well as classical, "We are the champions" and "Bohemian rhapsody" were just the ticket grab his interest again. And she's encouraged him to keep at the Bumblebee -- and now he wants to, once again. The school's marketplace location is deceiving; inside it's an oasis for musicians. You can learn to play anything, including ukulele. And for music lovers in general, there's a jazz club upstairs. I could go on and on ... simply put, this place is great.
My name is Joseph Bayer a piano teacher/artist residing in Vancouver, Canada. I have known Ralph Hedges for some twenty years. I have always found him to be the consumate musician, whether it be in conducting, performing, adjudicating or teaching. He has a great personality that subscribes to his work and is able to pass along musical ideas in a manner understandable to every student. As an piano adjudicator he has been invited to Vancouver on several occasions and each time has render thoroughly outstanding critiques. I would not for one second, hesitate to recommend him for any student's musical endeavours. They most certainly would be assured of a complete and sound grounding in their musical studies.
Allison has been wonderful in helping my daughter with the basics. She is excellent with keeping a 6 year old focused and still having fun while learning piano. My daughter looks forward to her lessons and homework and we credit Allison for continuing to show her how much fun learning piano is.
Looking for a reliable piano teacher? Choose Lynn. She offers professional piano lessons for adults and piano lessons for children. She has been teaching for 13 years now.
I have 10 years of experience with the piano, but have been teaching for 4 years. I am willing to teach students from any age range. My piano lessons help you not only to learn the proper techniques on the piano; but also to help you learn and apply music theory, sight reading, composition, and ear training. Annual recitals are also a part of my program to show the students and parents the progress made. It's important to be comfortable and have fun while you are learning. I try to make this my main goal in my lessons to keep the interest in the student alive.
My name is Alexander Conley Whetstone and I have been teaching piano (as a trade) ever since I graduated from Mililani High School in 2011. Since then, I have jumped from being a piano major at the University of Hawaii to the more stable academic pursuit of professional aeronautics (I am an aspiring military pilot). Despite changing my career goals, I will never abandon music for it is a detrimental aspect within my life. I have been playing piano since the age of 5 and I am confident in my ability to teach and pass on all the knowledge that I have, and will continue to garner from musical theory. I believe that my methods and philosophies are superior to my competitors for the following reasons: 1. My beginner to intermediate courses range from $20-30 (depending on if I travel to you or you travel to me), which proves to be a bargain in comparison to the average music instructor's rate of $40-50 an hour. 2. Although a higher price would suggest a higher-quality learning environment, my case is quite the contrary. My novice to level 5 lesson plans are guaranteed to provide the same (if not better) experience offered by my more established rivals. If you are not satisfied with your first lesson, then it is completely free. 3. The final advantage of learning piano and musical theory from me is the comfortable and relaxed environment that I can provide. This is my most important approach towards potential and existing clients because many people dread their progress and begin to doubt themselves, especially when they are paying up to $50 an hour only to learn the basics. This can obviously take away the fun in mastering music and can become extremely stressful for both the student and the person(s) paying such a large amount of money, which I will not stand for. I will admit that I have much to learn, but I am confident that my basic understanding of musical theory will prevail in the end. You can think of my course as a "two-way" learning environment; while you attempt to understand and apply the fundamentals of music, I will be learning from you, which will help me strengthen my individual lesson plans, as well as strengthen my teaching methods for future students. I hope you can give me a chance to prove my value, you will not regret it.

I've been teaching private piano lessons for over the last 20 years, from beginners to advanced level, ages 5 and up. I also have a children's choir "Keiki Chorus" composed of ages 5-12. They learn to read music, sing and have fun. Lastly, I'm one of the directors of Singers Company, a girls' singing and dancing group for ages 5-12 that help build self-confidence through music.
I've got a strong background in classical piano from majoring in music to studying with strong proponents of living classical music tradition. I will teach strong practice habits with an emphasis on independent thought built upon correct fundamental thinking. You won't need me after our first introductory free lesson, but you'll probably want someone good enough to have offered all the mental tools I'll be presenting to help guide your journey ;)
I don't have a website, but I have been playing guitar since I was 12, and the piano and vocals since I was 6. I have just graduated from UHM with a TIM degree and a minor in music, and am performing professionally. I used to coach middle-school basketball and loved teaching, and have taught a number of people informally for a number of years. I have just recently begun teaching students formally and on a regular basis. I am teaching to help support myself as I get my professional career going. I love music and I love teaching, and I'm good at and know a lot about both.
If you're looking for an easy-going, fun teacher for yourself or your child--then I can help you out! I love meeting people and I love teaching. I hope to spread my talent to those around me to help them develop theirs. I believe that anyone can play music with enough practice!
