Newly relocated military family to Hawaii, we had the task of finding piano lessons for our 4 children that could also be the right fit into our busy and ever-changing schedule. A friend recommended Mr. Robert Hartley. We contacted Mr. Hartley and expressed our need for in-home lessons, schedule flexibility and different skill levels for each of our children. Mr. Hartley was very tenacious in doing what he could to accommodate us and each of our needs. Mr. Hartley has been our piano teacher now for the past year and we are delighted that not only have our needs been met, but our expectations have been exceeded. The individual attention and care given to each or our children (ages 14, 13, 11 & 6) based on their varying personalities and skill level is amazing. Mr. Hartley's ability to guide ALL of our children individually and as a group is commendable. We have found Mr. Hartley to be reliable, timely and excellent to work with. Mr. Hartley is always careful to let us know well in advance if there needs to be a change in schedule and like wise, is extremely flexible when we need to cancel or change as well. We are fortunate to have found Mr. Hartley and recommend him highly.
William is warm, personable, and knowledgeable! I took piano and composition lessons with him, and his creativity is contagious and inspiring. Since I started lessons, my technique has improved so much (especially for my left hand). I also feel that I have found my voice for composing, and I am proud to show others what I have written. It is clear that William is always thinking of his students, and he has connected me to many wonderful opportunities. He makes lessons feel fun and productive, and I cannot imagine a more qualified and caring teacher. Thank you, Will!
I had never taken voice lessons prior to Craig's. When I first met Craig, I told him that I wanted to be a better singer, but I was not sure of which part of what I was supposed to be improving on to be a better singer. After the first session with him, I was sure that he could help me improve my singing because he let me understand and let me see what I was doing wrong while I was singing. Each lesson, I could sing better, and I could project my voice better. I also participated in his recital and it was fun and was a great experience for me. Now, I feel that I can control my voice waaaay better than before (although I still have to work on it). It is worth your time if you are thinking of taking a voice training lesson. I love the fact that it's fun and he lets you sing the songs you like :)
My daughter Hana has been Mrs Yamamoto's student since 2011: Kapalama Chorus for 2 years, Keiki Kani Children's Chorus for 2 years and now 2 years with Keiki Kani Teen Voice. She has learned so much about music, tone and pitch. Hana has also developed poise and self-confidence thru various performances within the community over the years. Thank you Mrs Yamamoto, Ms Desmarie and Ms Kuulei for being such AWESOME music teachers and instilling in Hana life attributes that will guide her as she matures.
Kip is certainly the most skillful, fun and helpful vocal instructor I have had. As a naturally gifted teacher with an impressive career in professional theatre and Opera, he is instantly able to pinpoint problems and provide applicable feedback and correction that will noticeably improve and enhance your vocal technique. He is a fun mentor who genuinely cares for his pupils. I recommend him to anyone serious about learning vocal and musical technique.
I have been taking lessons from Cat for the last three years. The first year or so was in person and we have done Skype lessons for the last two years. I have loved taking lessons with her! She is a very skilled teacher. It always amazes me how much she can hear happening in my voice - even over Skype. She's a true professional. I always look forward to our lessons. I highly recommend her!
So glad I had the opportunity to take two lessons with Laura before relocating towns. She is a great teacher who offers a fun and personalized learning experience. It was also easy and convenient to book through Reverb!
Great school. Great instructor. My son is an extremely talented player, but he was burning out on the classics; he needed something more; something to motivate him. I tried Puna*** School's music program but my son played better than the instructor assigned to him. She made him give up practicing Flight of the Bumblebee because she couldn't keep up; and he subsequently lost his ability and willingness to play it. Carolyn at Manoa, however, introduced him to rag, improvisation and rock -- yes, rock! Queen's classic, as well as classical, "We are the champions" and "Bohemian rhapsody" were just the ticket grab his interest again. And she's encouraged him to keep at the Bumblebee -- and now he wants to, once again. The school's marketplace location is deceiving; inside it's an oasis for musicians. You can learn to play anything, including ukulele. And for music lovers in general, there's a jazz club upstairs. I could go on and on ... simply put, this place is great.
I have over 20 years of experience. If you want to learn to play the keyboards, the basics of music theory, vocal technique, stage presentation, I can be your instructor.
I've been teaching private piano lessons for over the last 20 years, from beginners to advanced level, ages 5 and up. I also have a children's choir "Keiki Chorus" composed of ages 5-12. They learn to read music, sing and have fun. Lastly, I'm one of the directors of Singers Company, a girls' singing and dancing group for ages 5-12 that help build self-confidence through music.

I am a professional musician as well as a fully licensed school teacher. I have my master's degree in education and have played music professionally in Hawaii with many various organizations. Among said organizations are Nick's Fish Market in Waikiki, Make 'Em Smile, and the Mother's Milk Bank of Hawaii. I have been playing music and singing for 24 years, and I have been teaching for the last 15 years.
I don't have a website, but I have been playing guitar since I was 12, and the piano and vocals since I was 6. I have just graduated from UHM with a TIM degree and a minor in music, and am performing professionally. I used to coach middle-school basketball and loved teaching, and have taught a number of people informally for a number of years. I have just recently begun teaching students formally and on a regular basis. I am teaching to help support myself as I get my professional career going. I love music and I love teaching, and I'm good at and know a lot about both.
I offer photography and guitar/vocal teachings. I have been a photographer for 22 years, professional photography for 12 years, and I have been playing guitar collectively for around 12 years.
