My son (currently age 8) took ukulele lessons with Kevin for one year before switching over to guitar. We've now been doing weekly lessons with Kevin for 2 years. We do our lessons over video chat, because we don't live in Des Moines. I was a bit concerned that the video experience wouldn't really work, but it as been fantastic! Kevin is a phenomenal teacher. He is incredibly patient, positive and encouraging, which I think is important for young children. He expertly balances teaching the fundamentals of music (including reading music and playing technique) with having fun playing. When my son switched over to guitar, I started taking lessons too so that my son could practice playing with another person (this is a limitation of the video lesson format, as my son can't play duet with Kevin). We're having a blast! I've been impressed with how quickly my son is learning and that he continues to look forward to playing. Kevin is also really great about bringing in extra songs to supplement the book we're using. When my son expressed an interest in Beatles music, the next week Kevin had sent the music for "Yellow Submarine." The verses are still challenging (but my son is progressing - frankly he can play it better than I can), but you should hear us wail on the chorus! I highly recommend Kevin as a teacher for anyone, but I've been particularly impressed with his ability to teach my young (and sometimes squirrelly) son.
I didn't know the first thing about playing a guitar before I walked into Craig's studio. After 1 lesson, I am confident that Mr. Sinclair is the best teacher I could've found. I was extremely impressed by his knowledge, professionalism and teaching technique. Craig ensures his students first master the very basics of guitar playing before advancing to more complex fundamentals. He has precise attention-to-detail and prides himself in teaching students the right way. Craig is easy to talk to and takes great interest in providing his students the best lesson(s) they can find anywhere. I highly recommend Craig to anyone looking for guitar lessons and I'm looking very forward to my personal future lessons with Craig.

The best instructor I have ever worked with. Andy is both a very talented player and an excellent teacher. He is indeed very patient and is able to work with multiple ages and skill levels. Highly Recommended.

I am a 20-year-old male student going to Hawkeye Community College for my liberal arts degree with an emphasis on Philosophy and Religious Studies. I am a very patient and nurturing being. Every day is special just like each and everyone of us, and I find it a privilege to help and get to know each and everyone of my students. I enjoy working with kids. I believe we all learn differently and have our own style, so some people need to be taught in ways that cater to them. I enjoy working with kids and adults of all ages. I am very open-minded.
I provide beginner to intermediate guitar lessons for students of all ages. I work with students to develop a unique plan to achieve their goals, whether that be playing in a rock band with friends, playing in the school jazz band, or just having fun learning a new instrument.
I've played guitar for many years and love teaching and inspiring others. I am willing to meet any of my students' needs with learning the material wanted and where they want to go in music.
Starting with zero experience, I taught myself guitar, that's why I am now comfortable playing, leading and singing more than once a week, once playing in front of over 800 people. I play with Vineyard Church Des Moines, Drake InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and International House of Prayer Iowa. I am also beginning to write and record my own music. Over the years, I have learned many tricks, lessons and habits to make learning guitar quick and fun. I feel very comfortable teaching beginners and moderate level guitar learners how to take their skills to the next level. This could include everything from basic chords for beginner, how to play live with others, and the basics of soloing. If you are looking for lessons for your child, I have three years of experience working with children at Boy's and Girls Club. If you are looking for lessons for yourself, I have also spent the last four years working with and mentoring college students. I am looking for students of any age and beginner to moderate skill level who are motivated and dedicated to learn guitar. Don't be discouraged if you've tried before, with a little of my help to point you in the right direction, you too can play! Lessons for the Des Moines area are available as frequent as preferred with no contract or commitment. I charge $25 per hour and I can drive to anywhere in the Des Moines area. No experience or equipment needed except a guitar and a good attitude! Call today if you would like to set up a time or meet me first.
