Introduction: Katie started practicing yoga in 2002. Although she felt the serenity and peace within yoga, she did not fully dedicate herself to the asana until 2008. She found Bikram yoga after a life-changing experience. She finished her first 350 RYT in 2010. After only instructing the series for a little over a year, she was called to learn more. She was unfolding not only on a physical level but also on a deep spiritual level and wanted to continue this sparkling transformation. She started to practice various styles of hatha yoga. She left the Bikram series to complete another 200 RYT in 2012. This training had deep roots in Iyengar, the philosophy of yoga, ayurvedic diet, sequencing, alignment, meditation and pranayama. It absolutely shifted something deep inside of her, and she knew there was no going back. In July of 2013, she participated in her 3rd teacher training immersion under the guidance of Lee Bear Tobin and Lara Perry of Lila Yoga in Spokane, WA. This training was an indescribable spiritual experience. It contained a focus on vinyasa, sequencing, anatomy, ayurvedic diet, and yoga philosophy. More than anything, this immersion was a journey inward. Bear and Lara emphasized the opening of sacred space, meditation, various styles of pranayama, mudras and our energetic system. The experience was sacred and enchanting to say the least. It touched her core, her heart, and her innermost self and was beyond anything Katie could have ever imagined. She is in absolute awe of the knowledge and life experience Bear and Lara shared. Lila is her home and one of the most sacred places on earth. Her eclectic journey within yoga allows her to guide solely from the heart center. It’s all about the love, the one universal law that connects us all. She encourages practitioners to seek their own truth, to trust themselves completely, and to surrender to the breath and allow the vulnerability to guide them. Although the physical benefits continue to heal her, it is the spiritual awakening that humbles her daily. Katie is constantly reminded of her own samskaras and the importance of ritual, meditation, asana practice and pranayama to quite the ego. It will be a lifelong journey, and the more she thinks, she knows the little she actually does. She is a student first and foremost and is honored to guide others on their individual journey within yoga. Currently, Katie is drawn to guide vinyasa, yin and meditation. You can also find her leading SUP yoga in CDA, ID and surrounding lakes during the summer. Yoga is our most natural state of being. You’re already enough.
